kruton
Okay so I like these hypothetical questions just to get the brain working when I'm thinking about tools. So you can only have one tool that requires electricity of any sort and the rest of your work has to be done with old school hand tools...what are you gonna pick? Just interesting to see what and why people choose certain tools.Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
DR99
I think it depends on you job. I think a framer would take a good circular saw over anything else. Banging nails in would suck but having to cut wood accurately with a hand saw would be brutal. The other trades like electrician/plumber would probably be a drill over anything else.
chewie17
great question and as for me, a home renovator I would say an 18v hammer drill/driver, or a corded version something I could set screws with but also throw some tapcons in on occasion. I think I could get away with a hand saw and coping saw.
Charles Harris
That would be a hard choice but it would probably have to be a drill/driver. I would probably pick a sawzall second.
Justin Hernandez
A drill is something you can't live without
ChrisK
Festool TS55REQ. The rest I'd do with hand planes and old school joinery (mortise and tenon). The other option is my OF1400 router. I could use bits for break down but the saw would be better!
ankur
drill/driver for sure! for the longest time that was the only powered tool i had. i can't imagine how mentally painful it would be to hand drill holes, not to mention the time involved! yikes! comp56
gonna have to say a good ol stiletto hammer, cause if ya can't do it swinging it I'm sure you can convince someone else to...
Chris
I am going with the Drill / Driver, I just can't imagine having to drill and set every screw by hand.
Bremon
Yeah, there's a reason drills are so popular. Definitely a hammer drill.

Charles Harris
I never really thought about this that much. After thinking about is some and seeing everyone else's replies it does really shine the light on how important a good drill is.I would also conclude from this that since the drill is most important a person should concentrate on getting a really good drill.LOL it sounds like I'm already using this to try to justify another purchase. Charles Harris
I actually think that I use my impact and screwdriver more, but I could do all of it with the drill. The hammer drill/driver can just do a wide array of jobs.
Justin Hernandez
I should have said hammer drill because that's really all I do is tapcons, a little bit of drilling metal and wood plus some screws. Yea impacts have only become popular in the last few years but hammer drills have been around forever.
