  1. I thought the US all but quit producing gas (unless you're a foreign owned company on US soil). Anyways I like the idea of the decorative solar panels. If I had the money I might instal some on a shop if I had a shop to cause the shop utility costs to be basically nothing. I heard about a solar technology that will basically be a paintable product. Basically the next generation in solar. More efficient to produce more power per square foot/square meter and paintable meaning pretty much every exterior surface can photovoltaic. Think the entire paint job on a vehicle could produce electricity.
  2. Everyone seems to be wanting to get into the modular toolbox market. Mod Box looks to have some solid features. They specifically show a lid being opened that has a box attached to the lid being opened The cup holder has a rotating feature to keep your drink level. I hadn't noticed the wire reel holder before but it looks to be specifically designed to interface inside the box. This isn't the first offering with accessories that mount to the outside of the box. The box to box mounting system seems closer to Pack Out than Stack Pack's and Tough System 2.0's mounting system. The beefed up all composite corners should be more cost effective in theory than the beefed up metal corners of Stack Pack and Pack Out.
  3. Are the temperature numbers in Celsius? 80 C seems pretty good and -20 is to be expected I guess. I would be curious to know what something like this would cost.
  4. That charger is unfamiliar to me. I like the Black out edition tools though.
  5. Yeah kinda disappointed the racking systems are all but forgotten and the locking mechanism for the DS Carrier is gone too on 2.0 boxes. Dewalt could have figured out a way to make everything compatible with the racking and locking features of 1.0 but didn't. the cord reel if you use corded tools seems quite handy. I probably don't have a use for it since most of my tools are cordless now. Also my main corded tool is my Festool CT 48 dust extractor which has a pass through for any corded tool connected to it. In most cases I don't need an extension cord. I like that half width open top box. Sometimes the full width open top box is too much.
  6. Makita is finally doing it. They are the first to my knowledge to come out with a cordless microwave that isn't just April Fools or clickbait. The microwave will do 8 minutes with 2 of the BL4025 batteries on a 500 watt high mode then auto switches to a 350 watt low mode. It will do an hour 24 minutes on high with 2 PDC1200 batteries. It has a folding cary handle and optional shoulder strap. Does not look to be MakPac compatible but I could be wrong. Toolguyd has a nice article about it https://toolguyd.com/makita-cordless-microwave-xgt/
  7. I have wondered if I should pickup a 23 g nailer. The DeWALT sends like a well recorded option. I also have m12 batteries and might look into it too but not really a high priority tool purchase right now.
  8. Festool’s fast fix holds better than Velcro/hook and loop. I haven’t had the paper melt to the pad before on my Rotex. I wouldn’t be surprised if it could have melted on yours or mine but also wouldn’t be surprised if it was just the fast fix holding on so well. Festool offers a thin pad to put between the sander pad and sandpaper to help extend the life of the sander pad. Proper suction is very important. I have personally experienced extended sandpaper life and faster sanding performance just by using a vacuum with proper suction.
  9. 3d printing has come a long way but the strength isn't as good as injection molding yet. There is a product I saw within the last year or 2 that is an injection molder but more like an at home injection molder.
  10. I have done some finishing of doors in my previous job. Looks to me like if you remove the finish then go over with shellac specifically amber shellac you will get that aged look. just be careful not to remove the stain. After the shellac is dry put on your protective clear coat of choice and you should be good to go. To get a lower sheen go satin instead of gloss or semi gloss. There is also matte but I have never used matte and don't know how it would look. Satin is the most common finish appearance I used. We did a lot of water based poly by brush but a clear spray should work too. I prefer an oil based finish myself but water based is also fine.
  11. I prefer 1.0 for the racking. 1.0 has to my knowledge 100% compatibility with any of the 3 tough system racking systems and the locking mechanism of the carrier. I don't travel with tools much so racking makes more sense for my workflow. Also if I need to travel I can bring my carrier if needed. Now 2.0 is not to be forgotten about. I feel like the racking set aside 2.0 does better at almost everything else. Better organizing in some respects and more specialty boxes. I do prefer the modified lid bins of the TS 1.0 DS 130 for my recip blades but otherwise 2.0 all day long. I feel like I get more options with 2.0. I probably will not get into 2.0 much unless the 3 drawer unit comes out which I might pick one up to try out. I am big on the 1.0 gen 2 drawers and was kinda bummed when the 1.0 3 drawer unit didn't make it over to North America.
  12. The 3d printing community and modular storage for packout is huge right now. Kinda makes me want to ghet into Packout just to have custom modular bit storage and a nice insert for my installation driver. Maybe there are some who are making designs for Tough System items too.
  13. I would probably go with a 6-1/2 cordless unless you need capacity then go a 7-1/4 cordless. Corded to me is dead when it comes to these two sizes of circular saws. Ryobi probably make a one+ hp circular saw but the quality of cut and calibration might be questionable. I have heard some of the homeowner grade saws don't run true out of the box and some you can't even get true if you adjust the saw but I have heard many praises towards Ryobi and maybe the Ryobi circular saw offerings could work.
  14. Cat is the only power tool brand with a Graphene battery option.
  15. You are very correct. Get a bunch of tools I wouldn't normally have known about or purchased. What I like is the stuff you get is generally "quality"/"pro grade" items. You don't get any no name junk brands that some other tool subscription attempts have given in the past. One box I got a pair of Crecent scissors/shears. I wouldn't normally have boughten a pair of scissors but they turned out to be the best pair of scissors I have ever owned. There are a number of other brands or products that were the same. Either never heard of the brand or wouldn't have normally bought the tool but turned out to be really good tools that I wish I would have gotten sooner.
  16. I spy the Wireless tool control logo. I think I seen that there is a concrete shroud so the tool control should pair nicely. I wonder if that brace below the trigger will get in the way of grinding.
  17. Has anyone seen and/or joined the new Tool Talk Community and/or Tool Talk Inner Circle? The Tool Talk Community provided users with surveys regarding new product ideas and was revamped in 2023. There are also a few discussion topics too. Tool Talk Inner Circle is more or less the same just answer the discussion questions. I don't think inner circle has surveys about product ideas. Both of these services allow the user to earn points in exchange for buying gift cards. Its not much but I found the rewards to be legit. I have actually cashed in my points on the old system before the new system went live in 2023. got something like $14 worth of points which is not too bad for answering a few surveys for DeWALT. You can get giftcards from a few dozen places like Home Depot Amazon, restaurants, and more. I found the surveys regarding new ideas to be hit or miss. If the option you pick for your main occupation is not an option DeWALT deems fit for the tool idea they are trying to survey you on, the survey abruptly ends. When you actually get the full survey experience it is actually quite nice to see what ideas DeWALT is coming up with. Also I wish they pushed more ideas. Feels like you get hardly any surveys pushed to you and of the ones you get you might not get the full survey like I described earlier.
  18. My tool crate recently arrived. It came with the Unilite neck light and a small inspection light. It also had a MIlwaukee High Leverage 7-in-1 Pliers, and it had a Wera Zyklop Ratchet. The Inspection light is all metal but it is not rechargeable. The neck light is rechargeable with type c usb. The Pliers I have not used yet. Not sure what to do with them. The Wera Zyklop I unboxed. It is fine. The rotating head feature is kinda cool. Also it can fit 1/4 hex and 3/8 drive sockets. Only catch is there is no retaining ring or detent for the sockets. It also comes with storage for 12 bits in the handle. Wasn't as exciting as some previous Tool Crates but it's still not a bad lineup of tools. I like the crates because it surprises me with tools that I wouldn't otherwise buy. There are so many items that I regularly use that I might not have ever owned if it wasn't for Tool Crate.
  19. Have you seen those 10mm only 10 piece sets. I wonder if they make them for the 1/2 inch you need?
  20. One option would be to buy your material of choice then weather proof it. If it will take oil I might try throwing a coat of exterior oil on it. You could also put a coat of exterior paint if you want an actual layer of something on the table top. Oil will more or less soak in and paint will be a layer on top. Doing a coat of each might do the trick.
  21. I spot the wireless tool control logo. Looks to be able to communicate with the flexvolt vac.No lights though but I heard people have mixed feelings about the ones on the m18 belt sander.
  22. is this an updated model? a few years ago they had something like this in 20v max but I think it was quietly discontinued due to not performing as expected.
  23. I just noticed the big open box middle right has a green ligh on it and a regular color light shining into the box. Also looks like something on each side of the light. Maybe a battery? The yellow case on the right bottom has a different front handle that looks to not hinge.
  24. Nice to see DeWALT coming out with more Tough System 2.0 products. They were kinda slow at releasing stuff for OG Tough System. There was a 3 drawer unit in the OG system but it did not make it to the states. Maybe this one will actually make it here. I am kinda disappointed that the DS Carrier isn't fully compatible with 2.0 since 2.0 removed the locking bracket on the back of the boxes. I think the boxes can still be attached to the carrier but can't be locked to it. Also there are a few 2.0 boxes not including the half width boxes that do not fit on the brackets for the van/wall/carrier brackets. I might have to pickup one of the 3 drawer units if it comes here. I wonder if the box is the same height as the 2 drawer unit meaning shorter drawers or if the box is taller meaning the same height drawers but 3 of them.
  25. Should take me less time next time I do it.
