  1. I have both the Fuel Hammer drill and Impact.
  2. It's crazy how much market share Dewalt had at one time it really was a sea of yellow at one time. I guess the didn't innovate when other companies were improving their products. Milwaukee wasn't in very good shape till the TTI buyout in 2005 a few years later and they are just putting out really innovative tools now for a bunch of different trades. I think that merger between Stanley and Black and Decker messed a lot of things up. When corporate restructuring goes on things can go sideways quick you can lose talent, and product release dates can slip. I think the move to the 20v/slide packs should have happened a few years sooner than they did doing it in 2011 was a little late it should have been more around say 2008.
  3. It more than likely it won't be till the next Dewalt media event during the spring of next year to see any reveals from Dewalt, but you never know you can see the quiet launch of a tool also like the M12 fuel sds drill they just announced it on facebook. But if you do get a 4.0 ah drill impact kit you can get the bare tool or single battery version of the Saws. It's nice having 2-3 4.0 and 4 2.0 ah batteries. It prevents the need of swapping packs all the time while using tools and give you the ability to have a tool charging all the time.
  4. Well right now is a really good time to buy with the free battery deal going on, but I know money is allways an issue for a lot of people a free battery is a nice extra though. Well if you wait for a little while I bet they will have a Fuel combo kit soon with the Drill, Sawzall, Circular saw, and impact soon.
  5. My M12 fuel has a nice all metal ratcheting chuck love the upgrade too the 1/2 inch chuck also just makes the tool more practical for every day use.
  6. I only ever had to Warranty a battery, but it came from a refurb kit I bought anyhow one of the plastic clips broke on one of the M12 packs. It was easy I walked in with the old battery and out with a new one. Also I believe they offer the ability to have your tool sent in to be fixed also it can be easier to deal with the company than a repair shop sometimes. Yea Dewalt just seems so slow at releasing new tools, or even filling in holes in the line up of tools. I still can't believe they don't have a multi tool out yet, and the radio was just released 3 months ago. Dewalt 20v are not bad tools I liked mine, but Milwaukee is just way faster at getting products on the market faster. The only thing the Milwaukee lineup is missing is a trim nailer
  7. Metabo has a quick change system. Plus they really make great metal working tools.
  8. Never had any problems with my M18 fuel and it put in tons of 5/8 inch anchors in during my basement install. The guy in the first video was trying to hole saw in second gear and Milwaukee contacted him about the issue. The only thing I'm pissed at Milwaukee was I sold my old fuel drill to upgrade to 4.0ah batteries and I can't find a kit that has them.
  9. Yea I dunno why Dewalt is still asking so much money for these old 18v kit's. Plus I would figure stores would like to have shelf space for the new stuff
  10. I like Milwaukee products I have both M12 and M18 tools, but you can't go wrong with any of those tools really. BTW Milwaukee is still offering the free 3rd battery. The Ridgid with the free radio is nice though if you dad likes to listen to sports on the radio its pretty handy. Stay away from the Dewalt kit for 169 they are phasing out the 18v platform for the 30 dollar savings its not worth it at all. Find a HD coupon somewhere
  11. I'm excited for the circular saw, sawzall, and multitool. The grinder and big impact would be nice but they would never be used that often to justify buying them right now I have a ryobi grinder and 1/2 inch impact wrench it's fine for what I'm doing.
  12. We are getting a brushless sawzall, circular saw, grinder, heavy duty impact wrench, and multi tool with tool less blade changing.
  13. Yea, most of the recon tools are returns of tools people didn't want I would imagine. I used Ryobi tools for years the the drill and impact driver were nice thereciprocating saw and circular saw are kind of weak, but I am still using the the garden tool's with my 18v lithium batteries.
  14. The new Ryobi kit's are pretty nice also plus there are a lot of handy tools he could add on like a tire inflator.
  15. If his old tools are in decent shape you can have the batteries from the old tools rebuilt by various companies online. The other thing is you might want to look at 12 volt drills and impact drivers. If he is just doing light punch work that will work great for him if he can't handle things that are too heavy for long periods of time plus they are really really small so you can get in cramped spaces. Lowes has a bosh kit with 2 L-boxes plus a drill and impact driver for 179. http://www.lowes.com/pd_484543-353-CLPK22-120AL_0__?productId=4753480&Ntt=bosch+12v&pl=1&currentURL=%3FNtt%3Dbosch%2B12v&facetInfo=
  16. Yea the new gas string trimmers are pain to use now the epa rules make them run so lean that they are just impossible to start unless you have perfect conditions. I may eventually move over to the ryobi 40v line the have a lawnmower and everything on that platform.
  17. Sorry conductor when I was looking to see what a John Deere weed eater looked liked this is what google came up with.
  18. I need too cut the grass but we have a cotton wood tree behind my house and its just puking white fluff everywhere, and I can't do it till it rains so the crap gets wet and stops floating around everywhere. What pisses me off the peoples property that the tree is on don't have to deal with this crap, and the city can't do crap because the tree is on private property. The other thing is the people that own the property don't want to pay to have it done there is garages everywhere so you might need a crane to remove it so its going to expensive as hell to cut down 5 to 6 thousand dollars.
  19. I used to use gas powered string trimmers for years they are junk for the most part the I'm talking about the 100 dollar ones at lowes and home depot. My little ryobi 18v sting trimmer is good enough for the trimming I do around my yard. My only complaint is while I have better luck with spooling the line it still is a pain in the ass to do.
  20. Yea you can tell around here which homes are rentals the city makes you put a railing to grab onto at the front entrance. If I remember correctly you and Dan live around the Chicago area? Yea it's crazy how much work I have done for free just so I don't have to look at a turd of a house I cut and edged the grass once for free and put down some weed and feed out on the front lawn just so weeds won't seed on my lawn. Plus they had garbage all over the back yard it just pisses me off. One positive thing is my city is finally patching my street.
  21. Luckily if you call the city here they send out some one right away to issue tickets for tall weeds and grass. My neighborhood is getting over run with rentals I don't want to paint that all people that rent are bad, but they are not invested in the house like homeowners would. The only other problem is landlords only care about the bottom line. If I leased homes I would have a lawn service build into the cost of the rent.
  22. Why can't people manage to do basic yard work anymore? I just spend a good 4-6 hours cleaning the yard of a house next door to me I don't even own. They asked me to just cut the grass, but I ended up hacking down some sucker trees cleaning up some old weeds and spraying a crap load of weed killer. The kicker is they are trying to rent the house out looking like that I mean come on people you have to put in some sweat equity in. They got hammered by the city on the rental inspection they have to put in a new electrical service in now also. If you make things look nice they will be more forgiving on issues with the house It's what I have all ways said if you make things look bad for inspectors they will be ruthless. Sorry for what was mostly a rant post, but people are just slobs now.
  23. Man seeing how the L-box works really makes me wish milwaukee offered something similar instead of the old blow molded cases they are space wasters. I'm not a huge fan of the tool bags either I don't like how everything bounces around.
  24. Just to add to the Milwaukee tool deals they are currently offering free M18 2.0 or 4.0 ah batteries with the purchase of certain kits online.
