  1. Again, I appreciate the input. Regarding blade right vs. blade left. I really think it depends what you are used to. For over 20 years, I used blade right. The 6 1/2" is the first blade left I've ever had. Once you get used to it, it's fine. Once you get used to the blade right, it's fine. I would like to get my hands on a DeWalt worm drive style, just to feel the balance. It's really a personal preference thing and a getting used to it thing. At one point I worked with a guy that used a Skil 77. It was tough to get used to. One thing I'll never forget. When he got done cutting a board, he would let go of the saw. The saw would drop to the sub-floor as he walked away with the board. He was so rough on that saw. At that time, he probably had it for 40 years.
  2. I posted about these, a week or so ago. I was getting ready to give an update when I saw this thread. Originally I wasn't too impressed with the larger blower. We've had a chance to use it on the job and used them side by side. My opinion has changed. We've had the smaller ones for a while. They are great. Definitely worth buying and keeping in the truck. I think we use them everyday. Yesterday we had alot of saw dust covering a large area. We used 3 blowers. I had a small one and the other guy had a small one and the big one. Made short work of clean up. I noticed the air speed appears to be about the same. The difference is the air volume. The big blower puts out alot more air and, in turn, blows alot more sawdust. Side by side the large blower just moves more air. We probably won't be carrying the large ones very much. They take up too much room in the truck. But, they do a good job. They don't compare to a corded blower or a gas blower, but they also don't need a cord or gas. So you could also say a corded blower and gas blower don't compare to a cordless.
  3. I appreciate everyone's input. I have watched several reviews of the flexvolt wormdrive style. I have also read alot of reviews. It does seem like the best cordless saw. Probably the way I should go. We have been using the 6 1/2 for about 1 1/2 years, exclusively. I took out my corded 7 1/4" about 6 months ago. Then I found out I was the only one that still had a corded circular saw in my truck. For the most part we only do remodeling. The 6 1/2" has gotten by just fine. But then I pulled out the corded saw and there was such a difference. Made me realize what I was missing, as far as power goes. It also made me realize what a pain cords are. You don't think about it when you are used to them.
  4. Currently we have the 6 1/2" 20v circular saws. They are getting the job done, but not the fastest saw in the world. I am considering getting the 7 1/4" circular saws to replace them. I can't seem to find any head to head comparisons. I'm not looking for depth of cut or weight comparisons. More like, yes it's worth it, saw does much better. Or no, no significant difference in power. I can always upgrade to the Flexvolt. The reviews on it are great. Since we don't have any flexvolt, for now I would prefer to stick with the 20v, just because it is easier. Thanks.
  5. Bought the DeWalt fan. DEC511. Acme had them with a free 2.0 ah battery. It's a little bigger than I expected. Not a bad thing. Works great. I'm glad DeWalt finally came out with one. Of course they waited until winter, but at least they finally released it. Also got the DCBL720. The big 20v blower. I have the small one. Use it all the time. The big one is a little bit of a disappointment. It does ok, but not great. What can you expect for such a big blower on a small battery. A couple things it has over the small blower, the width of blowing air is bigger. Sometimes blowing stuff off with the small blower is comparable to using an air compressor. Whole lot of air in a very small spot. This does spread the air out and works fair. It also doesn't stick to my pants leg, because it suck air from the back. Had it to over again, I would probably pass on the blower. The small blower works great though. Use is almost everyday. As for the fan, I would have bought 4 if they would have let me. The special only allowed 1 purchase per person. The 2ah battery probably won't be the one I use in the fan, but I still like having a few of the small batteries around.
  6. At first I didn't realize what you were talking about. Being right handed I hadn't really noticed. You are right. The trigger lock button is on the left side of the handle, only. Unlike the circular saw.
  7. Bought the DeWalt 20v chain saw. Thought I would give my impressions. In my opinion, it is very comparable to an electric chain saw. I have an electric Remington pole saw (used last year) and have run and electric Remington chain saw in the past (20 years ago). We used a brand new, fully charged 6ah battery. It did everything we asked. Runs smooth. Ergonomics are good. Everything I expected. The only negative - it spits bar oil like crazy. Maybe not like crazy, but it throws out more oil than any gas powered saw I've ever used. Currently I have a Sthil and a Husquvarna gas powered chain saw. So, be aware of your surroundings. We cut several pieces while we were standing on concrete. It left at least a dozen quarter sized spots of oil on the concrete. Also, anywhere you sit it down, will have a puddle of oil. The foreman had left in in the back seat of the work truck, overnight. Left a puddle of oil on the seat and running down past the back of the seat. Besides throwing oil, it performed great. The oil issue is an annoyance, but overall it performed great. I will take an oil issue over having to have mixed gas and dealing with starting issues.
  8. Noticed they were on clearance at HD. Not sure if that means a new one is coming or they are just moving them out of the store. They seem to do that.
  9. The other day, I wish I had the flexvolt table saw. Pulled out the saw for a couple small cuts. I will probably get the 8" and not wait for the 10". As stated before, I've learned to not wait on DeWalt.
  10. I say, if you want it, get it. From past experience, if you wait for DeWalt to come out with the next best thing, it may be years. You may see it at a show, but it's still a long way from being available.
  11. It is heavy. I was nailing bracing in trusses the other day. It's heavy, over your head. Of course I'm older now, than when I was going after it. I still choose the DeWalt over an air nailer. Who knows about the weight. It may be the same or close, but it feels heavier. The fact is, I can grab the DeWalt, walk from the truck to the work, and start nailing. Batteries last more than long enough. We used one battery for a day and a half. When it went dead, my son said exactly what I was thinking, "I was just wondering how long that battery was going to last." Day and a half. Switched batteries in less than 60 seconds. Back to work. Now, I'm not knocking Paslode. I like them. Sold all of them, but I still like them. I got tired of the fuel cells running out of propane. This was mostly due to operator error, but it was something I had to deal with. I still like the Paslode. Of course I sold all of them. Still recommend them, but battery only is better. Heavy. Feels heavy. Maybe I'm getting old, but I still have to shoot nails, even when I'm old. Still lighter than dragging a hose and compressor around. I wouldn't recommend a battery only nailer for production work. Really needs to be an air nailer. Will shoot all day without a hiccup. For remodeling or small framing, battery will work everyday. Personally I would stop at a garage. Anything bigger, air nailer. Personal preference.
  12. I was just looking at the Rigid. Not planning on buying it, but just checking it out. Planning on getting the Rigid lights and wondering what else I could get. I like seeing this. Even though it's flexvolt.
  13. 10,000 seems pretty low. Since we haven't had ours very long, I can't give you an answer. I'm just thinking, isn't there like 3,000 nails in a box? (varies from mfg to mfg) I'm thinking a house takes at least 2 to 3 boxes of 3 1/4" and 2 to 3 boxes of 2 3/8". As for finish nailers, again, there are alot in a box. I'll still guess about 3,000 per box and at least 2 boxes per house.
  14. The 12" is big and heavy. Played with it at the store. 7 1/4" is nice and light, but sacrifice some cut. Seems like a 10 would fit the bill nicely. Then maybe bump the table saw up to a 10? Either way, I'll be getting the table saw.
  15. I would definitely agree that overall, things have gotten better and are only getting better. For myself, we aren't that far away from having a cordless jobsite. Doesn't work for everyone, but it probably will for me. 10 years ago that wasn't even a possibility. I keep a corded skil saw in my truck, but I don't know why. Haven't used it in 1 1/2 years. Never occurred to me that a cordless would handle the load, but apparently it does and has been. It's just now that I've come to the realization that I need to expand my horizons and carry multiple brands. One day it will get there.
  16. Comp56: What you need and what you want, comes into play. I hear that. It's exactly where I'm at. Of course DeWalt isn't going to put out tools, just for me. Just because I want a great cordless flood light, doesn't mean it would be a seller. Since I've come to a conclusion, it's better all around. I've even figured out space for stuff. Now I just need to buy.
  17. You know, you wait and wait. New tools are coming. Don't worry, the brad nailer will be here in May. Then, don't worry, the brad nailer will be here in June. It will be at the show. This is just an example. For years I've tried to stay with one battery platform. Others would say, "No, don't do it. Buy other brands and have several." I didn't want it to work. I have limited space in my truck. If I switch brands, that's more batteries and chargers. So I patiently wait it out. I think this is it. I'm tired of waiting for DeWalt to play catch up. So slow to release new tools. Yea, they show the fan, but when will it be available? It was 92 degrees yesterday. I'll bet they wait til winter to get it out there. Makita has had a fan for years. Why didn't they say, "Hey, that's a good idea, lets copy them." I think the time has come for me to start seeing other tool companies. I like the Rigid lights. I like the Rigid fan. I think I'll start there. Now I just need to re-organize, buy a dual charger, buy some batteries, and make room for a few new tools. Don't get me wrong. I like the flexvolt tablesaw. Maybe even the flexvolt miter saw, although I like the idea of a 20v better, because I have the batteries. I just think it's time for us to see other brands. Lets just call it a break.
  18. I posted on page 1. Not being able to get my hands on the tools. While on a trip, I stopped at Quincy, Illinois. They had a good selection of Rigid. Also DeWalt, Milwaukee, and Ryobi. (of course they had Ryobi) I was impressed to see how much they carried, in each lineup. I had a couple observations. The Rigid batteries were heavy. Very heavy. A 5.0 ah Rigid felt the same as a Flexvolt battery. Didn't have the side by side, but by memory, they felt the same. The Rigid light were what I was interested in. Looks like the flood light with the tripod is almost the same price as the Milwaukee tripod and light. The tripod was the same size also. I had just assumed the Rigid would be smaller.
  19. The DeWalt blades are junk. Don't buy them. Sounds like you had a bad experience. I've used several brands and all different applications. Never a problem. We have one in each truck. I did have a guy tell me they weren't any good. Said they didn't have enough power. Of course he had never used one.
  20. I like the fan. I've been in the fence about buying a different brand. Even looked at them today. Decided to give Dewalt a couple weeks to see if they come out with one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. One key, tick, routers, all that sounds fine, if your into that. For me, I'm simple. I just want more lights, a fan, a small radio (smaller than the current smallest one), and maybe a couple sanders. Oh yea, that brad nailer that was supposed to come out in May.
  22. In my opinion, all dewalt reciprocating saws are lacking. Milwaukee sets the standard. Having said that, the 20v DeWalt reciprocating saw has a 4 way chuck. None of the others have this. Not even flexvolt. Which doesn't even make sense. For me, the 4 way chuck comes I very handy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Apparently I don't know how to post a video. Oh well. I don't know if I would agree that the Paslode shoots harder. My opinion. I like the Paslode. Great guns with a solid reputation. I just sold my last 2. At this point, I would still opt for the DeWalt. So far it's done everything we've asked.
  24. I really, really like the dewalt nailer. It doesn't compare to a pneumatic, but then again on some levels the pneumatic doesn't compare with the dewalt. I took a video of it yesterday. I'll try to post it soon. It was great. I was showing my competition. I said, " it would be my choice for new construction, but for remodeling ". He interrupted and said looks to me like it replaces pneumatic. I still have a few pneumatic, but I love the dewalt framer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I had some of those Milwaukee. The cords lasted longer than the tools. Not kidding. Just the other day we had to get out 3 cords on the job. By the end of the day, they were a tangled mess. Reminded me why I love cordless Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
