    New nailer

President's day sale at CPO. Arrived today. This thing is heavy, but I expected that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Came on here to post about CPO. Darn sale caused me to order a 20v framing nailer.
  3. I've probably had most brands. No Hilti or Festool. The reason is because there is no place near me that carries them. That is my reason to not buy them. I like to get my hands on tools before I buy them. One time I bought a Rigid circular saw. I wanted to give it a try and it wasn't going in my truck. I never liked that saw. My hand barely fit in the handle. Just an example of why I like to handle the tools before I buy them. I say buy whatever brand you feel will give you the best service after the sale. We have almost all DeWalt now. We bought them from Fastenal. We have had excellent luck with service after the sale. We had one impact go bad and one sawzall. In both cases we took them to Fastenal, dropped them off, they called when they were fixed/replaced. Didn't cost us a dime. It was only about a 8 block drive out of our way. That is worth a ton to me. Sounds like you have a local tool store. It may cost a little more to buy from them, but they will probably be there to service your tools after the sale. Online buys won't. Yea, its possible. You can mail them in to a repair shop, but that's a pain. All brands have some issues. Someone may say, go with "X" brand, "I've never had a problem." The next guy will be the opposite. I say, go with the brand that has the tools you want and buy them from a store that will back up their sales.
  4. I suppose being able to adjust the rpm would be helpful, occasionally. The other day a kid was helping screw off drywall. He kept complaining that the screws would strip out of the steel stud. If we could slow the screwgun down, it might have made it easier on him. Experience would solve the issue, but he didn't have that.
  5. I've never seen one in person. I want dewalt to come out with some practical lights. I use fluorescent lights, similar in size to the old halogen lights. If I could get the same size, similar lumens in cordless, I would probably buy 4 or 5 of them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Maybe there is something to Bluetooth that I don't get. Maybe it is a bigger deal in different job applications. I know I won't pay extra for something I won't use. Have 3 impacts. One has 3 speeds. We leave it on #2 all the time. The rest I control with my finger. That's a tool that comes out everyday, so I'm pretty used to it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. They all used to have screws. Always use a nail to open them up. Went with Irwin a long time ago. Not a box knife, but the Milwaukee folding, easy open, knife, is the best pocket knife I've ever had. These days I use it more than a box knife Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Vaughn, 20oz, 16" handle, fiberglass. Same thing for the last 26 years. Of course I'm probably on the 10th one. The claws wear out. I use the same hammer for everything. Never really liked switching weights and handle lengths for trim. I have been considering one of the titanium ones. The elbow gets sore a lot quicker , these days Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Been wanting one for a while. Impulse buy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I can't imagine not using a laser. The Romans didn't have lasers, but if they were around at that time, they would have been using them. As far as brands, I've had quite a few. I can't remember the brand of the one we have now. I think it's Spectra Physics? It works good, but the batteries went bad so we have to charge it for every job. Have a few of the small Bosch, 5 way lasers. And a couple Bosch laser measures. I really like it. One of the best things on lasers is the self leveling. Had a DeWalt that took the 18v batteries. The batteries never fit right. It would keep shutting off. I ended up giving it away. I don't know if the guy ever sent it in to get it fixed. When I used it, I would stick a carpenter's pencil between the battery and the unit, so it would make contact.
  11. Can't go wrong with Rolair. I've never heard a complaint about them. They do make a few smaller ones with wheels. Alot of people don't think they need wheels. I'm at the point, I wouldn't even buy one that didn't have wheels. Unless it was a very small one, but I wouldn't buy one of those to begin with. Regarding the Porter Cable pancake compressors. I've never had one, but I've seen a few on job sites. They are extremely loud. I think there are a few other brands that all basically look the same and come bundles with about 3 nailers.
  12. I had a friend taking Ambien to help him sleep. Packages started showing up at his house. While he was on the Ambien, he was getting up and ordering stuff on Amazon, while he slept.
  13. I guess I should add, about an hour after I bought it, I sold a job that it will be perfect. Sent from my E6782 using Tapatalk
  14. Not today, but yesterday. Graco ProShot II. Cordless. Whole package, case, and 2 extra tips. $150. I was at the paint store talking about the new one taking DeWalt batteries. They said, "yea, we are clearing them out, for the new ones." I wanted the one for DeWalt batteries, but for that price I couldn't pass it up. Sent from my E6782 using Tapatalk
  15. I would definitely put one of these to use. I run into alot of small sanding jobs. Just knocking the edges off of something.
  16. I don't know when the release date was, but it's on the website. http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-GEN5X-Brushless-18-Volt-3-in-x-18-in-Cordless-Belt-Sander-R86065B/300716202
  17. Rigid has pushed me to the edge. They are releasing tools I want. I just don't want to start another battery collection. I probably wouldn't buy the compressor. I don't have a use for it. It's cool though. If I were going to buy another heater, I would buy the cordless over a corded model. I'm not really in the market for more heaters, at this time. They are something that last a long time. Now the new belt sander, palm sander, and router. That's not fair. Putting them right there in front of me. They are almost as bad as the girl scouts set up in front of the store. Who can resist cookies? Then you get in the store and they are tempting me again. Who can resist cordless tools? A little more on the serious side. I went to Home Depot Saturday. Thought I would look at what Rigid had. I've seen a few guys have stuff on the job. Radio, drills, circular saw. Now with these sanders out, I wanted to see what else was offered. Almost nothing there. Your standard drill and impact. Then drill/impact combo. What is going on there? I can order them online, but I wanted to get my hands on them. Oh well. Rant is over. I just want some cool tools.

    SCORE!

I checked it out. Never heard of it before. A whole lot of make up and shampoo. No batteries. Sent from my E6782 using Tapatalk
  19. I guess I also suspect some tools never make it to market. I'm not saying DeWalt, in particular, but I suspect there are some companies that do this. I have no proof at all. It would see possible that a company might develop tools as concepts. Then show off the tools at shows. If the tool doesn't get the response they think it needs, I suspect it never makes it to production. I can understand, if this was the case. If, for example, it costs 2 million dollars to get a tool into production, if the pay off doesn't meet their needs or goals, they just scrap it and look for the next tool that will meet a market demand. Since Milwaukee has several specialty tools that are geared toward a smaller market, this is probably just me thinking about it the wrong way. One thing I know for sure. They pay people big bucks to figure out these things. I'm just a plain old carpenter. I can still hope for all the new tools, the other companies are putting out there. Don't get me wrong. DeWalt has some benefits I don't see with the other companies. Otherwise I wouldn't stick with them.
  20. It's also possible, I want alot more information than they are willing to give out. Above my pay grade. Sent from my E6782 using Tapatalk
  21. I read it, but my point is more like, why didn't they announce it then. Maybe they did and I missed it. Sent from my E6782 using Tapatalk
  22. To kind of stick with the thread, "Anyone know of new tools out yet." No. I don't. I wish I did. They talked about some new tools last year. No release date. No clue. I've looked all over, trying to figure out how long I need to wait. I wish they would say, these are our new tools, this is when they will be available. It's almost like they show some tools, get reactions, and then decide what they are going to make. So, when is the 18ga brad nailer coming out? Do I need to buy another brand? I want to stay with DeWalt. That's the battery platform I'm invested in. I know I just need to buy another brand. More batteries for the other brand. More chargers for the other brand. Pack the truck full of different brand batteries. Then DeWalt will release the tool.
  23. I've got the 20v vac. I like. Has plenty of suction for what it is and it fits in my truck.
  24. I have a corded Milwaukee barrel grip. It's been fine. 26 years and still going strong, but it's also a tool that doesn't get daily use. All of the other Milwaukee tools, that I bought 26 years ago, have died long ago. The DeWalt jigsaw is just one of their better tools. Runs so smooth. I was cutting circles in 2x material and the blade stayed on track. I'm sure there are alot better ones out there, but I am happy with it. I would say it reminds me of a sewing machine running.
