Tormund Posted July 24, 2016 Report Posted July 24, 2016 Just how much wobble is normal on a ridgid impact driver? I have the gen5x brushless and just recently took it out of the box. Here's some footage. Bit is around 2.5 in. Ridgid 18v brushless impact driver gen5x 2.5 in. drill bit Bosch 12v drill with the same bit side view Ridgid 18v brushless hammer drill gen5x same drill bit from the rear slo mo Bosch 12v drill rear view slo mo Ridgid impact driver rear view slo mo running at top speed Quote
AnonymousJoe Posted July 24, 2016 Report Posted July 24, 2016 That's normal on any impact. theres no chuck like on a drill to tighten the bits down. When I first bought an impact I actually had the same concern until I started using it. Once the bit starts drilling in wood it'll run true Quote
jeffmcmillan Posted July 24, 2016 Report Posted July 24, 2016 Check if there's still wobble once you start a hole. If there is then it's a problem. Quote
Logan Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 If it drills straight into wood then it should be fine Quote
Tormund Posted July 25, 2016 Author Report Posted July 25, 2016 It wobbles when I drive a fastener. I'll try to get footage of that. Thanks for the replies. Quote
Kencalise Posted September 7, 2020 Report Posted September 7, 2020 Hi. I just bought this kit(R96172), found out the impact driver shaft wobble. Then I used my old makita impact driver with the same bit. The makita doesn’t wobble. Is that mean I got a bad batch? Thank you. Quote
