SC0UT
My wife asked me to make her "something that I can sit on when I bath a baby & it would be good if it can be used as a step stool as the baby gets older" So I went to the shop to find a distinct lack of materials but I was eager to start right away. Necessity is the mother of invention, so I saw a pile of fire wood that I could use. The timber was an old picket fence. All I used was a sander, saw, drill & hammerAdd a bit of stain, glue, some nails and your done I didn't have any long runs so I had to sandwich & glue offcuts to make the side rails. The decorative nails also add support (i have tested it while holding a big bag of cement - 135 KGs / 300 pounds no problems)
Harold Wray
Brilliant! Looks really good! You made the wood look like mahagony or cherry. Do you remember what stain you used? Really clean! I love seeing these projects! It inspires me to be inventive. If you got any more please post them.

Kato
That's an awesome bench, especially considering what you used to make it.

DR99
Wow that's amazing I would have tossed the would as being unusable. I guess I will have to look more closely at things before I toss them.
chadlanthier
Definitely would have tossed the wood. I have saved some wood that was headed for the scrap. Amazing bench.

Javier
Good work, in the second pic the unstained board looks like new wood. Would've never guessed they came from the first picture
