Have any of you used any of the Schluter products like the Kerdi Board or Ditra? I am getting ready to remodel our last bathroom and for the other two just used cement board, but one of the guys at work was telling me about this Kerdi board. He spoke highly of it so I think I am going to give it a try. I guess if anyone has used it I'm just looking for any tips or pointers when installing it kind of a lessons learned or things you wish you would have done differently. Thanks fellas!

good stuff if you are building curves as it can be formed easily but if you are going with flat everything cement board works

This particular bathroom isn't going to have any curves so might not be worth it. I have everything priced to do it with cement board so I don't know how big of a price difference there will be either.

The kerdi board saves you the step of not having to apply the Kerdi waterproof membrane over the concrete board/denshield/drywall substrate.  The only thing you need is just the kerdi band for the seams and screw holes.

We just recently put a full bath in our basement, using schluter Kerdi. Used Kerdi board to do a shower bench then the membranes for wall an floor liners. It was absoley great to work with. We watched a lot of videos on YouTube that explained it well. It's not cheap thoe.

I think I may try it just to see how it works. Yeah the online videos help.

Kerdi is incredible. Worth every penny. Faster to install, easier to work with, less mess and completely water/vapor proof. I've built a cooler out of the stuff and it held water for over a week before I gave up on seeing if it would leak.

It's structural as well. Build walls, benches... Anything out of it.

I watched a video where they built a half wall in a bathroom. I would have never guessed you could use it for that. Pretty cool stuff really.

I've built floating benches out of it. Held 500lbs with no issues.

I think I've decided to go with it in our bathroom when I start.
