  1. I got an order in today myself, a couple of highly recommended cabinetry books, two Lie Nielsen card scrapers and a lie Nielsen file and a 9" cabinet rasp from Auriou. Beautiful hand made rasp. This is going to be instrumental in several project but most notably shaping the top neck of the saddle rack I am building to put in my wife's tack trunk.
  2. Well don't sell out the jigsaw yet! They are a really great tool to have and making those round cuts are slick as snot with a jigsaw! I've a cordless and corded one and they are invaluable for certain work!
  3. I'm with Not Carl ( ) in this. Great idea actually! I've also heard you could induce the opposite of this (I.e. Potato chipped wood) by laying it down on some wet ground, grass or something and let the sun go to work allowing the wood to settle back into its more natural state, basically inducing the wood to move as humidity does. Not sure if it would work but in the case of what @KnarlyCarlsaid, I totally agree. You can the refinish the top to get it closer to the hew board. Also give yourself some lee way with the new hole to allow for that expansion and contraction that you have seen!
  4. This is kind of ironic but I bought an RZ mask for ATV'ing and got my Wife one too. Then I read on the Woodwhisperer that these masks are used in the shop too. I'll tell you, though I don't have one, I am seriously thinking about getting one. They are very comfortable and I have a huge nogging. No problem at all wearing this for me.
  5. Heck Kruton, I've actually bought from our northern brothers and saved a boat load thanks to conversion!
  6. Where is this sale at Comp?
  7. Hahahaha I'll have to work on my Vacation Clark Griswold chin!
  8. Kind of a crazy week here at my home. One thing, really, really, REALLY crazy! That'll wait for now. The second thing? I actually got my first commission today! It's kind of a joke but I'll get a couple of bucks out of it and I will end up making some cut outs of animals for another Troopers wife. Kind of funny to me, I panicked when he called me this morning and asked and I was like....."gee, I'll try it out Joe but I'm not sure, I've never done anything like that before". He sent me the pics and I was like, "yup, I got it". I will give them a whirl this weekend on my scroll saw, which I have never even used in the almost five years I've owned it and I know she does a lot of community stuff and has worked in the ad industry so who knows, maybe some day care centers or something might want some of these? Ends up this request came none too soon as I just ordered an Auriou cabinet makers rasp to finish the saddle rack I am building my wife and this should come out with the final roughing of the cutouts https://www.lie-nielsen.com/product/cabinet-makers-rasps-9-inch-cabinet-left-hand-
  9. I've bought from that same store Regopit They really are great to deal with.
  10. Well Jack, with a lot of tools you get what you pay for in my opinion. And...in my opinion, a Bosch Router is a good investment and with the ability to do the full range of chucks, this is a win win for you! Maybe check out the OF1400 from Festool !!!!!! Hmmmmmmmmmmm??????????
  11. Wow! That is not available here! Is that the Colt Palm router with the base?
  12. You know for the life of me I cannot figure out which one is the 1600. I have the 1617 fitted in my Bosch router table and it is an awesome router though and truthfully, Bosch and Porter Cable are both fantastic lines for routers. The Milwaukee 1-3/4 looks like a sweet router and the Dewalt line offers great ones too but my 1617 is a great machine.
  13. Wow. That was an industrious 2 hours!
  14. Comp I am so sorry for your family. Thank God they got out safely.
  15. I didn't answer all of your other questions! 4) The track is designed (in the LR32 case) to do the drilling for the shelf pin system here is an interesting read for you.... http://www.festoolusa.com/media/pdf/lr32_tutorial.pdf and... http://www.festoolusa.com/media/pdf/routing_adjustable_shelf_pin_holes_with_the_of_1000_e_router.pdf to answer your question as far as cutting dados? Absolutely, you can make or modify and slide for the rail (any rail, not just the LR32) to cut dados but the LR32 base is set up with a spring and toggle assembly which would really inhibit the use of the router for dadoing purposes. Use of a rail and extension set is what you would need you could modify one or perhaps make your own. 5) I have the 118" rail but only the 55" LR32. I believe the longest LR32 rail is 95", not sure why they just didn't go up to 118" but to be honest with you having two or more rails is a good idea. You can join rails easily enough and having the shorter LR32 and the longer 118" makes life a lot easier. Try putting a 118" on a piece of plywood for a crosscut with a 24" span. Pain in the butt!
  16. Hehehehehehe yeah, after the drama I privated all of my videos in response to thinking I might get some grief
  17. Jack, my friend. My sweet forum member. Run. Hide. Never look at green again. If you do decide on the purchase of any blue and green tool, you undoubtably will never stop smiling. But.....you'll never have any money again. With that Surgeon General warning.....I don't have the Makita track saw. I do have the Festool TS55REQ and I know I can use my track saw on your rails. I have been told that the Makita Track Saw will work on the Festool rails but I have to caution you that this only comes from reading multiple posts, not actual knowledge in hand. Now, of this information is correct, your Makita TS will work on the LR32 rails regardless of length. The rails are identical minus the drills and consequently some weight. I do do own the LR32. I absolutely love it. The problem inherent with what your asking is the LR32 is designed to work only with Festool routers. It's part of their proprietary system of tools. The following is an excerpt from the FOG and there is some real hope that you could re drill the LR32 baseplate and therefore attach your router! Remember that you will want a SPIRAL UPCUT BIT. I have a Whiteside Router bit and the reason being is purchased the base LR32 which comes with everything you need but at a substantial cost difference.... https://www.festoolusa.com/power-tool-accessories/routers/hole-drilling-system/lr-32-hole-drilling-set-583290 Vs..... https://www.festoolusa.com/power-tool-accessories/routers/hole-drilling-system/lr-32-hole-drilling-set-in-systainer-584100 In my case I bought the base set, got the Whiteside bit and was all set to go and put it in an extra Systainer 1 I had in the shop. Saved some serious coin. What follows is the excerpt from the FOG.... http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tools-accessories/lr-32-guide-plate-494340/ I hope this helps and there are cheaper ways to do it undoubtably. Generally speaking I don't push Festool as it is expensive but there is a reason for the associated costs. Regopit and NER are also into the Festool lineup.
  18. Wow Comp, I hope your family and everyone there is okay.
  19. Hahahaha I haven't seen that movie literally since shortly after it came out. I was scouring YouTube last night laughing my butt off
  20. Nothing Milwaukee outside of my hole saw kit here. I've got some Dewalt black oxides. They're not bad. I've got the Makita contractor set which is okay. Comparable to the Ryobi basic set. The drill bits are nice though. Then I've got the Festool Centrotec contractors set. Nothing better but I believe all of the bits are actually made by Wiha and the Zobo forstners are made by Festool. The absolute bar none best Forster bits in the world. They have re sharpenable blades and replaceable drill bits in the shaft.
  21. I'm sure it ain't @iam76 it was using my 20v 5.0s that I have. Unfortunately I only have a few 20v tools and I want to make sure the batteries get regular use. Next up will be the 20v weed whacker, it'll get some use over me awesome Echo which deafens me!
