  1. Being a Mac guy with no idea what he is doing is iMovie pretty easy to use Jimbo?
  2. I know the first one from this is carpentry is relative to the smaller table saw but the reading on the Dewalt is pretty good, hope this helps, Chris

  4. Journal of Light Construction. Also try this link, http://www.thisiscarpentry.com/2012/01/20/portable-saws-bosch-or-dewalt/
  5. Dewalt. Rich the Bosch is a good saw, I like Bosch, but Dewalt is all over that Bosch. The fence is amazing. If you're in for a compact saw I was running the small Dewalt, sold it for the same price I paid for it when I got my Sawstop but that little machine was an awesome saw. I ALMOST when's with the Bosch but the JLC did a great comparison that swayed me.
  6. Thanks Fazzman, I appreciate that muchly. Watching my wife with the naseau right now. Poor girl is still smiling and looking squeamish!
  7. Can't speak on the 2nd gen fuel but I used to have the Dewalt DCD985 brushed hammer and it put tapcons in with no issue
  8. Thanks guys! I hung it last night before my in laws came over for dinner. I like this! My own design, plenty of mistakes but it looks pretty good and it's going to get a huge amount of use. Right across from this is the built I pantry which will getting some pretty large changes to match this one. I will rip off the old door, re build the shelves, add some pull out drawers and makes two new doors. It will look pretty custom!
  9. I've got the dual charger for my Makitas with two USBs but I've never timed it. I will say it's awfully quick with the 4.0s I have. Whereas my Dewalt charger is slow as snot. I want to get the dual one. My Festool charger gets the 4.0s charged quickly probably on par with the Makita.
  10. You guys are the best. I haven't even told the guys at work, that's where you all rate! Thanks for all of the kind words. After being married for almost 20 years when she left and no kids I thought I had an "issue" now my wife Samantha and I have been together for a year and a half and BAM! Thursday we are supposed to get a more in depth ultra sound and he or she should have the heart beat appear. Can't wait! This morning on the way into the office I had to help the patrol guys with a hot call and the whole time I'm like.....dude! Be careful! I NEVER say that! My wife called afterwards, scolded me me and asked me if I'm ready for three more! I'm retiring in 2.3, No way, if I have a girl I'll never survive the teen years! AND MY FRIGGIN ATV AINT FOR SALE!!!!!!!!
  11. Heck I'll be retired in 2 years and three months! I'll be a stay at home dad. I'll be 46 in July!!!!
  12. I don't know dude! I have a baby sack as my wife is calling it right now. All I ask for is healthy in mind and body, 10 fingers and 10 toes! And the complete knowledge that he or she will be a woodworker!
  13. Dude. 25 years emergency services. I've seen it, tasted it, walked it. I have never been this scared! Or this excited. Funny how the big guy plans things out for you.
  14. Ha. I'm going to have to get used to a lot of things! This pantry has been earmarked by my little lady for a certain type of food storage..... Namely lots of jars. And bottles. Time for Chris to do something good with his life!
  15. Well.....in my "New Shop Underway" blogosphere thingy I eluded to something really crazy going on. I found out something really crazy on Thursday. Well...... Im going to be a daddy.
  16. And here is the new unfinished pantry assembled and hung (temporarily) in the kitchen where she will rest! Legs....Lathe Turned Ash (got the original species wrong!) False Stretchers....3/4" Birch Plywood Shelves (4)....3/4" Birch Plywpod Carcass....3/4" Birch Plywood Face Frame....1" Poplar Rails and Stiles.....1" Poplar Door Inset.....1/4" Birch Plywood Edge Banding done in Birch. Tools Used....Sawstop CNS175TGP, Festool TS55REQ, Festool OF1400, Festool LR32, Festool DF500Q, Rikon Midi Lathe 70-220VSR, Rikon 14" 10-325 Bandsaw, Festool RO90DX, Bosch RO65VCL, Lie Nielsen low angle Block Plane, Makita XTP01Z, Japanese Saw, Glue. Lots and lots and lots of glue! The door insets will be trimmed out this week and I will add magnetic latches to the doors and the root cellar. The hardware will be removed and a Danish oil with Armor Seal will be applied outdoors this week and the cabinet will be mounted between two door jams which will require me ripping one down by about 1/4" (bad measuring on my part ).
  17. Doors assembled! And hung! Not finished but it's hung on the wall and tomorrow or sometime this week the finish goes up!
  18. Nice Jerry! Let us know how it works out. It looks pretty cool. Alas.....no garage so no opener for me!
  19. John, that is friggin awesome! Good for you dude now go and nail somebo.....some things!!!!
  20. Dano, what about using a Japanese saw and cut the rod off of both ends. Then you can hammer out the small piece while you have the offending board resting on some bricks with the shaft hanging between said bricks. You'll lose the pole but that might work and be a little quicker.
  21. Hahahahahahanahah!
  22. Dude.....subtlety is not exactly my strong point!
  23. Do it John!!!!!!! Dooooooooo iiiiiT!
  24. I wish I could weight in. They both have good features, it looks like the Makita has the extra capacity and power but the Dewalt has the more solid looking base and the XPS lighting feature and of the research I did prior to buying my Kapex, the Dewalt corded saw features kept it close in my final decision. The Dewalt saw has an incredibly stable well built base. I will say the Makita has the four pole slider which looks really solid and is featured on a couple of their saws already. It sounds like your a pro and the run time offered by both batteries might be something your looking into. Looks like a toss up to me. Dewalt = Win. Makita = Win.
