  1. You couldn't pay me enough to live in Michigan. Oh, uh, in the winter. Just kidding. Sorta. I hear the steelheading and king salmon fishing IS pretty good...
  2. Honestly, fellas, I get bored when I'm not at work, at least when Nolan is with his mother. The bills seemed to have increased lately. So extra money for projects (and the new tools that I try to justify) is a little tight right now.
  3. The sad thing is that I have a Treager smoker new in the box sitting in a storage unit rather than all smoky and greasy on my deck....
  4. I'm a little conflicted about this... I really want to give some NWS pliers a try, but dies to their off shoring of production Irwin is dead to me. And warranty claims might be problematic....
  5. Oh the irony, I really don't like Burger King....
  6. You guys joke about them, but if somebody gave me $5k, I might pick up a Snap On KRL1056 or KRSC46, midnight blue or sapphire. As far as actual tools, it would depend on my mood. I'd probably go crazy with one brand... Makita: LXT 18, the badass new hammer drill, the shorty impact driver, hi torque and compact impact wrenches Hyphoid circular saw Sidewinder circular saw Milwaukie: M18 Fuel 2797-22 combo kit 2655B compact 1/2" impact wrench 2763 hi torque 1/2" impact wrench Fuel Sawzall Grease gun M12 Fuel 2402 screwdriver 2452 1/4" impact wrench 15 amp Super and 13 amp Sawzall Bosch: 12v brushless impact driver, pocket driver, and drill, if they all ever get released here 12" glide miter saw The 5"/6" ROS with the super duper vibration control 1/2 sheet sander 5" variable speed grinder Fein/Metabo 4.5" and 5" grinders, plus a Multimaster 350 from Fein Festool: a couple of dust extractors, a Kapex, a Tracksaw, and maybe a sander I'd like to fill out my socket selection with an assortment of Hazet, KoKen, Wright, and SK sockets
  7. Yeah, I worked Sunday, so I started my week +10 hours. I'll probably work all weekend next week, but this weekend I have my son, so no worky for me!
  8. When you are used to 3:45, 5:30 is heaven...
  9. I knew about the 220/240v already, but thanks for the heads up. I'm going to have to get an electrician in anyway, wiring is not something I'm comfortable with my skill set. I want to add a buttload of lighting and more outlets to the garage, so I should be able to bet it knocked out in one trip out. Might add another plug for a future welder and/or plasma cutter....
  10. Probably, though I imagine, just because of a more northerly range, moose has a little more fat content.
  11. Truck tools make me look at my decision making process closely. I couldn't name a Cornwell tool that I'd really like to own. The new Mac ratchets seem like they might be pretty decent, and the review that WoodstockVA did on the imported sockets with the teeth look cool, but not much else interests me. The only thing Matco has the I want are the pinless impact swivel sockets. But Snap On, boy oh boy. I would love to own a couple of KRL boxes and KRSC carts. Love to own the full compliment of Dual 80 ratchets, at least the ones without the comfort grips. I'd love to complete my collection of mid-length sockets (1/4" 12 point SAE, 6 point of everything, 1/2" chrome SAE, 1/2" impact metric). I'd love a ratcheting screwdriver or six. But now that I have a kid, I imagine my Snappy buying days are over. It's not like I make money with my tools....
  12. I have about a half dozen of HF's ratchets. I put some serious force on the 1/2" long flex when I removed the spare tire that the jack wagon who put it on must have run the lugs in with his impact wrench at full power... Picture a 330 pound guy bouncing on it to try and get them loose. Had to have been well over 500 ft/lbs. Nitrile gloves 3 ton floor jack (I freakin' LOVE this thing) I play with the red tool boxes every time I go in there. Maybe one day... I bought a set of the color coded 1/4" deep sockets. Can't say I've used them much, but they've been okay thus far... My son loves the free/cheap flashlights. But the batteries are terrible. I intend to get a couple of the dead blow hammers fairly soon. I'd like to get the 3" electric cut off tool, but four angle grinders make that kind of redundant... The 60 gallon compressor is supposed to be pretty decent. I want to get the 3 ton low profile jack, depending on whether my current jack will get under the GF's Volvo. If my current one fits, I'll probably just get a twin to my current one.
  13. Never had moose. I find it less gamey than deer. But lean! Very easy to make it tougher than boot leather if you over cook it!

I worked at a place with 40 or so employees, and there were three Kurts, two Curts, and a Kirk. For some reason, they started calling me Big Kurt, which was shortened to BK, and I like the number 13. Pretty boring, actually... Well, maybe the fact that I'm 6'6" tall might have something to do with it...
  15. If I could just get the GF to send me pics of her in a garter belt and stockings while leaning over my table saw...
  16. Four tens, so I get Fridays off. So I slept in ('till almost 5:30!) checked GJ, then hung out here. Cooked the GF and I breakfast, bacon to season the frying pan, bacon wrapped elk filets, scrambled eggs, and toast from bread from the local bakery. Yummy! Now, please excuse my food coma...
  17. Do you think that guy needed a cigarette after he filmed that?
  18. Most definitely, but (like with most toys/vehicles) I wonder if I could fold my 6'6" fat guy frame in it....
  19. I have the non-Fuel M12 Hackzall. I like it, but it ain't fast! Mostly used it for limbing holly trees at my sister's house, but it's done a bit of work cutting various tabs off of my Jeep. I'm kinda undecided about what I want to pick up in the future. I'm kinda digging the M18 Fuel Sawzall, but then I kinda also want a couple of the corded models... The 15amp Super looks like nothing would slow it down, and the 13 amp looks like it wouldn't wear ME down as fast, LOL. And somebody posted about their new Bosch recip saw a couple of months ago, maybe a model 427? 428? 429? I remember it being the same as a coveted Ford big block engine, LOL.
  20. I haven't really followed the nailer market. Are the cordless/horseless nailers basically just for framing or roofing? I would thing they'd be pretty bulky for finish nailers?
  21. http://chasdayco.com/ This is a happy place in Portlandia... They carry a bunch of Bosch stuff you won't find in HD/Lowes.... 10 and 12 inch miter saws, glide and not; sanders, including the convertible 5"/6" model; SDS rotary hammers; grinders; and more. A TON of Makita stuff, a fair amount of Milwaukee, some Skil, a little Fein stuff. Not very big, but full of cool stuff.
  22. Boy, they'd have to make a stellar product (or a niche that IR hasn't filled) the lure me away from Ingersol Rand....
  23. While I like that Makita is coming out with new stuff, if I'm going to go away from my M12 stuff, it's going to be for something smaller like Bosch's lineup, not for something with a bigger battery hanging off it's bottom...
