Yes Brien, I know this. I believe that I said that they will continue to make the XRP batteries long after the tools are discontinued, i.e; the future... But again, grammar and sentence structure are not my fine points. For all I know this is what I actually typed: Yeah, those XRP tools will never be sold again and DeWALT suggests that you discard them and buy 20v MAX immediately.

You have now entered..... The Twilight Zone..... I did a Google search and see that Makita still makes these batteries, that blows me away. I guess though, DeWALT will still make the 18v XRP NiCd long after the tools are discontinued.

You always hear "disruptive technology" from competitors, so DeWALT should up the ante and make a dual 36v battery powered tool. Screw Makita and their dual 18v tools, lets get a serious cordless tool in production! Also, when is Hilti going to get off of their lazy asses and release a 10 gauge shotshell nailgun? You know, I don't wanna dick around all afternoon driving telephone poles into concrete by hand! These tool companies are getting out of control by not listening to their customers needs!

You can also roll these into the living room when the power goes out and use them for emergency lighting.

The HUGE benefit that I see of these tools is the day when you break your last ratchet while working on the only car that you have at the time. You can use a wrench and the HEXtension to finish the job. This way, you'll have more time to bitch at the old lady for needing to take the only running car to buy shoes that she doesn't need!

You COULD have pulled the trigger but, it still wouldn't have worked! Lol

I know some will think this is trivial but, I think the clear plastic guard over the contact side of the battery is an awesome thought. I wish I had those for my DeWalts...

Yep! A woman that will do ANYTHING in bed! Anywho, I'd like to get a 4 AH battery to use in my DeWALT radio at the drive in theater this year. Also, I really want to budget for an M12 3/8 drive ratchet.

I use mostly DeWALT power tools. However, I am not bashful about buying the best tool for the job. If Bosch makes something better and I need it, I will buy the Bosch. If Milwaukee makes something that is unique and I need it, I will buy the Milwaukee. If I only have $100 to spend and I need a tool for a job or two, I will go to Harbor Freight. I am VERY lucky to have a father-in-law that has pretty much any power tool that was ever made and he will let me borrow stuff because I take good care of tools. Also, we have an understanding that if I break something while in my possession, I will fix it or replace it for him. I just don't understand the complete brand loyalty that some have. But, I do appreciate the argument of battery platforms. I must admit, I don't use my power tools a whole lot so I am okay with purchasing some corded tools that I will use lightly or hardly ever. Our locomotive shop pretty much uses DeWALT cordless 14.4v XRP tools. I let one of the newer machinists use my 20V XR drill and impact. He went out that evening and purchased a whole set for himself to use at work!

I've used Porter-Cable blades in the past for pruning trees. In fact, I would not hesitate to cut a small tree down with them. Granted, if I was using them day in and day out, I would go for the higher end blade.
