  1. It’s 30+ pounds. Definitely not getting hung anywhere.
  2. I’ve been anxiously waiting on the DCL079 tripod light and now that we’re past Christmas I was going to order it. But then I spotted the large area cordless light on AcmeTools for $199. The kit is listed for $299. None of the other sites are offering the same deal. Their eBay site also has the bare light for $199 so it shouldn’t be a misprint. I was going to get the tripod because I couldn’t justify $400 for a light, but if they’re the same price and one has over twice as much output...
  3. I would bring a microwave to the job site. But more importantly, a battery-powered tough system compatible single serve coffee maker. Like the Oxx Coffeeboxx with FlexVolt.
  4. I’ve been waiting for these! When is the release date?
  5. Be nice if they upgrade the tough system radio to a type 2 for flexvolt 9ah. That cooler though... definitely getting one. Fingers crossed that there’s a powered cooling version.
  6. Maybe I’m not remembering correctly, but I thought that the press release had them at $159 bare tool?
  7. Just called for the $299 deal at Acme. No dice. Might have been an error in their system that they corrected. Guess I’ll get the extra battery.
  8. GIE+Expo 2017 was last week. Aren’t there usually updates by pro tool reviewers day-to-day during these events? Dewalt was on the exhibitor list. I’m pretty heavily invested in 40V and ready to spend more money!
  9. 40V OPE: Power washer, self propelled lawn mower, and telescoping pole saw OR a system like Ego has where you can change out the heads on your pole equipment. Maybe it’ll all come out in the GIE+Expo. Flexvolt: 120V 10” table saw and a 120V tile bridge saw with collapsible rolling stand. Lastly, multi-battery charging power packs that incorporate with the Tough System for all platforms!
  10. Yes to all of that. But also a roofing nailer. Not sure why that wasn’t one of the first guns. High battery turnover rate maybe?
  11. Hm. I took too superficial of a look at it. It looks like a worm drive, but I see now that it's still a direct drive saw with a rear handle added. Maybe I'll get one and add a beam saw attachment anyway.
  12. I thought of a the Prazi Beam Saw when I saw this. With the cordless planer, a timber framer could go completely cordless on a remote job site.
  13. A little ridiculous that this isn't 40V like the rest of their OPE line. Hopefully, Dewalt comes out with a parallel offering that uses either single or dual 40V batteries. There are places that just aren't practical for my riding mower to go. I am starting to get worried that I invested heavily in a platform that won't get developed well.
  14. I definitely eyed all of those releases, but they were tools which I already had. I would have bought the custom inserts had they been sold separately. Which is another missed opportunity that's been beaten up in a previous thread. I'm actually a little surprised that there aren't any aftermarket options being offered by some entrepreneurial spirits since releases take so long. Like inserts for Tough Systems or a pole saw end for the 40V string trimmer. At the very least, the wall rack system would have been easy to produce even for a home business.
  15. Dewalt frustrates me with these releases. It seems like I'm more invested in Team Yellow OPE and storage (ToughSystem) than Dewalt is. Why are they still producing unique tool cases, instead of making it all nesting or modular? This charger is a perfect example: Could have really used it during Matthew, but I'm not half as tempted to get a random box that won't stack with the rest of them.

    Planer Advice

I'm a big fan of the DW735. Get the in/out feed tables and use the collapsible miter/planer stand to save your back. Unless you've got space for a permanent set up. When your tired of changing steel knives, Byrd has an helical indexable carbide cutter head.
  17. I've never joined tracks before. However, when making cabinets, I could have gotten away with just the 59" track but I found it useful to cut my dados on the sides and back of the cabinets before I cut them apart. That way the dados were guaranteed to line up. That did require the long piece, though perhaps joining sections might've worked too.
  18. I'm always using my 102" track. Well worth the cost.
  19. At the Navy's Machinery Repairman school house there was an awesome photo from the 40's of ship's main reduction gear being milled. Double helical and 30' tall; the machinist was standing on scaffolding while at the controls. Not many chances to work at thAT scale anymore in the US.
  20. The 40V chainsaw is already out. I've been using it for several months.
  21. I saw that case on the Dewalt site. It looks like it's got the build and features of a tough case but isn't listed as one... Are the structural foam walls of a similar durability to the tough cases? I could use one for my track saw or worm drive...
  22. Is the clock something that Dewalt can even flash the computer to fix or will we need to wait for a Type 2? Though I already have the radio and love it with or without a clock.
