  1. I agree with all of this. As for powder or impact it would be a colossal waste of space for it to run off powder, that thing is massive. My ramset is 1/5th the size, and what else purpose would the battery have? That said I have no idea how they could produce enough force to drive a nail through 1/4in steel i beam either. And we all know Dewalt didn't just come up with something new as far as drive mechanisms go or else we wouldn't get this nailer until Elon Musk finishes boring a tunnel from my house to Anchorage, Alaska.
  2. Here's a pic of the 890. https://imgrum.me/tag/dcn890
  3. Anyone hear of new lights coming down the pipeline soon?
  4. Wiss. I've had a set for 10 years that still cut like new, and I have been less than kind.
  5. But for whatever reason not in cordless form factor. I'm guessing that they can't get both enough RPM and enough torque for good performance on anything less than 120v, having to pick one or the other.
  6. I was referring to either a 7 1/4" or 10".
  7. Yea hopefully on the next versions of everyone's saws they find a way to invert the motor so we can have cordless dual bevel.
  8. Makes me wonder what the other brands are doing to accomplish the smaller form factors though? The flexvolt sitting there is enormous compared to everyone else.
  9. Thanks for the confirmation, I haven't seen a size comparison anywhere yet but figured with less gizmo it would be smaller. Oh well.
  10. You sound like I need to get off your lawn, lol.
  11. Wonderful comparison, thank you for that and I'm glad to see yellow on top, and that all of the drills had a least decent performance regardless of brand. However (I know I'm that guy always with that one stupid gripe!) the only thing that bothered me was that your biggest complaint against the Dewalt is entirely on your end. You could have gone with the 6ah 20v and had a much more equal and fair comparison. I'm not certain but I'm inclined to believe it would be more compact and have the newer upgraded cells that probably would have provided a slight power boost over the flexvolt's 6ah older cells. Either way the end result wouldn't have really changed I don't think, maybe just a boost in numbers for this or that. I also find it interesting how you guys talk up the Metabo so much but it doesn't show in testing, have you changed your mind about the things said in previous video's on that unit now that the head to head is done?
  12. I believe that Europe will get the newest iteration of the flexvolt in the same form factor and stats, 1 1/8in, same impact and RPM. Don't ask me why they've done this, I have no idea. Model DCH333.
  13. So far it's what I would expect from a high energy tool. I'll need more testing to be sure, but even if it's not the best in runtime to swap a battery is easy as long as it's doing all the work. I'm a proponent of more power in sacrifice of runtime in certain tools. Many disagree, but it depends on the tool as well. For anyone who has flexvolt 9ah to drop on this thing would be very satisfied I think (I only have 5's right now). I'm sure there'd be a performance boost from the bigger batteries with updated cells over the 5ah as well.
  14. I still haven't had the opportunity to test the SDS more guys sorry, wrapping up two large projects that are in the finish stage. I did run about 15 tapcons with the 5/32" bits. This thing will sink that 6.5" Makita drill bit (bought a box on Amazon for dirt cheap) in roughly 3-4 seconds in old hard concrete. The thing is a monster guys. I gave it to my partner to run a few himself and he was thoroughly impressed from a short test too, I didn't even mention how fast I thought it was and it was the first thing he said after drilling a few holes so there's another subjective account. Bad. Ass.
  15. For me Dewalt wins because I think they have the best grips on the market, and the 887 is a shining example. I'd keep the 887 even if a competitor produced twice the torque simply because I enjoy the ergonomics that much. These things are already getting so powerful and fast they're snapping 1/4in tapcons out here like they're plastic. I'm good with that personally. If I want more, I'm grabbing the 1/2in impact.
  16. I have the impact version of this set and I love them.
  17. Well who's got the bigger dick aside, here's my initial review of this sweet little monster. Up first: Out of the box the weight of this thing surprised me. It's like a full 4lbs heavier than my outgoing Bulldog Extreme SDS. That doesn't sound like a lot, but dropping a 5ah on the end and yes it's not a small lightweight unit while using it for one hand operation overhead. It's right at the limit of weight for that, which is fine for me I think. But it hits...and it hits hard. I used it today for chipping a small spalling repair job with a bull point chipping bit, and it would just bury that thing in a hurry, flaking off hard concrete with ease as I worked on exposing all the compromised steel. On an efficiency scale I'd put it around 30-40% more effective than the Bulldog Extreme in my preliminary test, and on par with my coworkers larger corded Bosch unit. I need a side by side for comparison for this though, and I don't know the model number for his unit so more on this later. On to comfort, I'm a big fan of Dewalt's grips (and that's why I don't use any Makita, I always feel like they come up short on this point), and at first I won't lie this one had me concerned, it has a bit of a bulge in the center of the grip. Carrying it around just hanging by hand it's really noticeable to me, but once I put it into practice I didn't notice it at all after that. I ran about 9ah's worth of chipping for this task and I have to say it was very, very comfortable in use. The AVT is fantastic, zero punishment on my end and you can really see it working as you push and release with pressure even when not operating the tool, they did a great job here. After about an hours worth of giving it hell I felt great with it in hand, little to no body fatigue. Fit and finish. All parts of this unit seem to be well in order, the SDS chuck has a tight fitting sleeve at the end to help keep the grease in the gun, the LED is a nice touch, especially on giving you warning that the battery is nearly depleted, even in bright daylight it was very obvious my first battery was close to done which is awesome. Mode selection feels good, switches effortlessly. That said, I do have a gripe here. The trigger for me is a little too heavy, and I caught myself at times letting go inadvertently after prolonged use with the resistance. I understand the industry is sliding away from trigger locks, but if you can't lock it should be very easy to hold. Even if the initial breakover was difficult but holding was effortless it would be A-Ok to me. I mean this is a minor gripe here but in the light of honest and through reviewing, it's important for the basic function of the tool to be comfy and not give me trigger finger. Maybe with time this will lighten up as well as the spring ages. Preliminary summary: This thing rocks at chipping, even surpassing my expectations. I need to test drilling soon and I'll get back to you all once I've done more testing but overall I think this thing is going to give me years of service and do precisely what I aimed to use it for while smoking the performance of the old SDS. It was soo, sooooo nice not stepping on my cord while in operation, and not having to roll one out and roll it up once I was done put a smile on my face. I look forward to retiring my old Bulldog SDS. Good riddance, fuck cords. I also will be ordering the HEPA attachment once that releases as well so I'll be able to give some insight into how that performs as well. So far it's a solid buy in my opinion, if you're on the fence rest assured it's not a weak piece. More to come.
  18. I've never had that problem. I've even installed 3/4" hardie board trim with it and that shit is hard as hell.
  19. If you think the 16g is weak you have a defective unit.
  20. I picked up a set of Swanson Savage straight edges on Amazon that came today. I grabbed lengths 2ft, 4ft, and 8ft. Since it looks like the track saw is blade right I said screw it and bought these instead for a fraction of the price. They seem to be great quality and highly accurate holding them up together in front of a light gives nearly 0 bleed through which is impressive. I used the 4ft scoring drywall today and it worked beautifully. No more checking 2x4's for a straight one to guide me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0083SGRT4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  21. New forum redesign sounds interesting. Mostly aesthetic or functional changes?
  22. So basically it took them like a year and 4 months to redesign a magazine they already have had on 18v tools for like 10 years. Swell.
  23. Hey if they make that strut look better I'd be okay with the delay, lmao.
