  1. Has anyone tried the Makita worm drive saw? I have a side winder currently, but I am looking to add a worm drive at some point. I just noticed that Makita has a decent price at HD, so I thought I would ask around. Thanks, FB82
  2. After getting to use the tools for a week I thought I should do a slight review. The hammer drill rocks and I would recommend it to anyone who has small holes to drill in concrete or block. Also, I really like their laser distance measure tool. While it is not something that you are going to use on a daily basis (not me anyways) it is something handy that I can keep in my trailer in case I need just a quick measurement. FB82
  3. Ah, yes, dealing with Lowes... it stinks to be honest. I don't even have a Home Depot where I live, but lucky for me where I work has one! I honestly don't think Lowes compared to HD.... unless you are a Porter Cable fan since I have seen they have lots of that laying around. Also, they carry a decent supply of routers, but nothing in the spectrum of what HD carries or tools of different brands. FB82
  4. Just been messing around with the SDS, it drills with a 3/16" bit pretty easy. I wouldn't say it is as fast as using a corded model, but it is pretty quick considering it is a 12V battery. Also, I will probably stick to smaller holes as I don't want to wear the tool out.
  5. Got a chance to talk to my Milwaukee rep last night and he gave me a few tools to try out. Most of them have been used to show customers how they work, but are still in pretty good shape. Tools: M12 Fuel SDS 5/8" hammer drill Laser Distance Meter (I wasn't even aware they made this) M12 Right Angle Drill (This was awesome since I started a topic earlier on this!) Two pack of vice grips M12 Blue Tooth Radio The top three will be cool to mess around with, I have about five pairs of vice grips, but it never hurts to try a new product. When I get time later I will post a few photos. The hammer drill is the most used, but if I like it I am pretty sure I can get it cheaper because of that fact. Thanks, FB82
  6. Thanks, NER. I am always looking to read new things so I can learn how to build better, while also gaining more experience so I can make more money. The DeWalt books are really not too bad, especially since they're about $20.00 or so on Amazon.
  7. Yikes, sounds fun with.... everyone dealing with the sheetrock... Glad I am on finishing stages, so all I need are drills and a rotary tool. Have fun rocking boys, keep up the good work. FB82
  8. This thing would be awesome to have. Like stated above, I will be curious to see how much it is compared to Bosch's regular table saw. It would definitely be something I would look into if the price is not too outrageous. FB82
  9. NER makes a good point about the stair stringers, I prefer to use a jigsaw myself, however, I have seen others use a recip saw since they say they can keep the blade straighter. Not sure if that is true or not, but to each their own. I don't really think I would ever spend the money on a brushless tool that I won't use too much, but the runtime is enticing. FB82
  10. Thanks, I see it is on amazon for about $75.00 or so!
  11. Geez! I wasn't aware that the cordless jigsaw market was in such a demand! From the looks of it, it seems like a few different companies have came out with some pretty cool cordless jigsaws. Would come in handy for quick cuts and so forth. FB82
  12. Not sure that this really classifies as a "hand tool" but I didn't really know where to start this topic. Anyways, does anyone on here do any reading in terms of construction or DIY books? I have been reading a few DeWalt books and they are actually quite informative and useful. Any other recommendations would be appreciated.
  13. I have used about every type of wheel... and I personally like the Hilti ones the best. Expensive, but seem to last longer than the cheap ones from HD. FB82
  14. Thanks! They are both similar prices... and I am leaning towards the Makita to be honest. However, the trim carpenters that I know swear by the Porter Cable (and of their wood working tools actually). I'm sure I won't go wrong with either, just need to fork over the dough and buy one! FB82
  15. Thanks, NER! Those seem pretty handy
  16. Sweet buy, looks pretty awesome. I got to demo one for a few strikes and it seems to work pretty decent.
  17. Way to go boss, it looks awesome!
  18. ^^^^ hilarious. No need to worry, the money will get spend in one way or another. Most likely some sort of newer belt sander or planer! FB82
  19. Geez! That thing is impressive! Also, I like the size of it, not too bulky or anything. Thanks for the video!! FB82
  20. That might be the better option honestly. You made a good point about not having to buy another tool. Thanks, FB82
  21. Good luck with Milwaukee coming out with more "wood working tools", my understanding was that they are going after the electrician trade really hard. Hence all the backpacks, bags and hand tools. FB82
  22. Nice review, well detailed and thought out! FB82
  23. Ah, yes, I have used an adapter before (DeWalt?) and it did work pretty good. Also, would save me about $50.00 or so. FB82
  24. How do you guys like the cordless jigsaws compared to the corded models?
  25. From what I have seen on our site: Tin snips (G,Y,R) sheet metal hammer, vice grips, flat vice grips, drill, impact, grinder (cordless is better in this case), drill bits, hole saws, speed square, knife, tape measure, markers, pencils, safety glasses, gloves to name a few. Also, congrats on the new job! Sheet metal work doesn't seem too bad! Least you get to work with your hands and learn a new trade. FB82
