  1. The 240V adapter would probably require an actual adapter with expensive high power electronics whereas the 120V adapter is literally just a power cord. Well hopefully there's some filtering so you don't feed noise from the motor back into the mains but that's not strictly necessary. There's a chance the saw itself is designed to run on up to 240V but that would mean more expensive components built into the saw.
  2. In my opinion no black friday deals are worth (sometimes literally) fighting crowds. It's usually overhyped with one good deal so confused people overpay for everything else. The best deals are on tools released a few months ago that didn't meet expected sales estimates for the first months
  3. It allows a drywall gun style grip which puts your hand inline with the bit while being slim enough to grip it well. That means everything stays aligned even with a lot of pressure on the bit so no stripped screws, no broken bits, and no misaligned parts. Combine that with the centrotec system and it just exudes precision. It's pretty interesting how the L vs T handle designs change how you put pressure on the bit. I just wish L handle was a more common option outside of drywall guns.
  4. Makita 12V isn't that different from 18V as far as tool handling for intricate work whereas the cxs was designed for it.
  5. Careful trying to sharpen the cutters. It's easy to end up with edges that don't meet right or at all and won't cut anything.
  6. There are a lot of compact solar panels with 12V output and most manufacturers make car chargers. Just hook the two together.
  7. I wonder if they ever found out what idiot thought he could get away with substituting those fittings.
  8. You and the thousand others like you are exactly why spline is still around. Hammers aren't the kind of tool you replace before they're kaput.
  9. There is a big cost difference. The rapid chargers require upgraded magnetics that practically double the cost of parts...from $2 to $4 Maybe they hope people will spend extra money on a new charger, but more people I know will cut their losses andspend money on a new brand. If I were Milwaukee I'd start a trade in program for chargers.
  10. Doesn't sound good from the reviews.
  11. Someone around here was saying they were discontinued because they were pretty bad. Unclear if they've fixed the problems or just the marketing.
  12. Time to take a file to those nutsetters so they lock in an impact driver.
  13. The tool doesn't match the title or box in the background. At least that's all I noticed.
  14. How square is a folding square? I've always been too skeptical to try one.
  15. Not to mention any XRP had to survive this long so you know it's good.
  16. Ditto everything about brushless and high capacity batteries. The older cordless circular saws were pretty bad.
  17. Home Depot doesn't pay much attention to pricing on old models unless they're doing a sale so things like this are pretty common during sales. Often a new model of tool will be cheaper than the old model.
  18. OTT: Use the tools for performance analysis TIA: Break the tools for durability tests AVE: Rip apart the tools for failure analysis Can we get a sequence?
  19. With any luck this will be in the US by 2018.
  20. That's a steal plus you don't have to paint it red. Yet it's incredible a tool that was designed decades ago still goes for $200 normally
  21. I don't think I've ever seen one of those that hadn't been through hell let alone pristine new condition like that.
  22. Check if there's still wobble once you start a hole. If there is then it's a problem.
  23. Sounds like something is really wrong with that grinder. Only time I feel vibration is with wire wheels cause those tend to be pretty unbalanced.
  24. Funny. It seems like all those are set up to be grabbed easily with your left hand.
