  1. In my book compressors are closely followed by tools run on compressors.
  2. I get the appeal, but internationally ryobi is priced close to other brands. I'd rather have a dirt cheap option for occasional use tools since other brands have more quality tools than dirt cheap tools.
  3. That's pretty nifty. Kinda like the rubber overmolding on M18 batteries. Not that any of it is necessary since I've never had impacts damage a major brand's battery.
  4. I use a drywall square. Just cut the T end shorter with the circular saw you plan to use with it and you can line that up with your mark. Saves a ton of trouble squaring your guide and any errors from measuring 3" or whatever off of the desired mark.
  5. I bet some stockholders are really happy about them cutting costs.
  6. Each jaw in the chuck has two little carbide inserts that grip the bit so one of those probably chipped or shifted. It's not something you can fix so just go for the warranty. This is strange because I've heard a lot about new M18 drills having wobble but never one developing it after a while.
  7. That's why you never tighten a chuck by hand. Always hold the chuck and run the drill so it catches on the flats.
  8. Sometimes a ratcheting chuck can get stuck from rust or crud so itll start ratcheting without closing on a bit. In your case a burr from manufacturing might have caused that.
  9. I think a sawzall might be faster. With the blades being more than 10x the price of a sawzall blade I wouldn't touch wood with one of those.
  10. That chainsaw is a beast. I'm afraid to see the price tag (or release date) though. Hard to justify their 18X2 stuff when a bare tool costs more then EGO with a battery though.
  11. I've never had M18 thermal overload even discharging a 5.0 in under ten minutes, but the Makita batteries do thermal shutdown occasionally if I'm not paying attention. That might have more to do with my abuse of angle grinders though .
  12. Can't you get a ryobi drill with two batteries for less than $100?
  13. Those relay adjusting pliers are incredible. They look thinner than almost any needle nose but I guess that's easier with flat jaws.
  14. I havent had the two side by side in a while but i think they were almost exactly the same length with M12 fuel being a bit slimmer. From the trigger up the only real distinguishing feature is the belt clip. M12 is by no means a compact line. Edit: M18 is 7.60" and M12 is 7.75" on milwaukees website. Its ridiculous theyve ignored compact in favor of power in their 12V line. That said I will probably never buy into M12 because the base of my hand grips the batteries which are loose enough to vibrate separately from the tool which gets really uncomfortable.
  15. It seems like those torque are just marketing gimmicks and we've seen how little Makita cares about marketing in the US. They change the anvil design to it transmits a higher impulse which is great for breaking a bolt loose but makes no difference in wood. Think of it like punching vs. shoving.
  16. I'm a big fan of a tough speed selector. The soft ones tend to slip in hammer mode.
  17. Americans seem to be a big fan of table saws over tracksaws. The other thing you never see here are alligator saws.
  18. Nice review. Seems like compact just means slightly less power and cheaper but not by much.
  19. https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B003BEE12U/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used Judging by the number of listings someone crashed a forklift with a whole crate of these. The real question is how they come up with these prices.
  20. Remember its usually not 500 charge cycles and the battery just stops working and you warranty it. The performance slowly decreases and you start to think youre crazy or theres black magic because sometimes a battery dies faster than you expect until finally you number the batteries and pay attention and realize one isn't holding a charge as well but its not really broken so you can't warranty it so you just use it less and eventually it goes out of warranty and later bricks when you forget to charge it cause you never use it. Then the manufacturer increases the warranty length but by then its even older and also out of that warranty.
  21. And probably down to $50 by thanksgiving.
  22. Any idea if they have an autofeed attachment coming? It really sucks that the one drywall gun with push drive can't use screw strips. This is pretty nice though. No reason for drywall guns to be so long. Not like two inches is gonna help reach the ceiling.
  23. A tooled blade change is so backwards when other companies are pushing a one handed blade change.
  24. Great review. I bet what that rep said about high power of the SDS was just the impact energy since it sounded like heavy blows at a particularly slow rate. That would also explain why it was so comfortable. This sort of platform seems better suited to 12V. In fact I'd consider individual 12V tools first for the intended application but that's just me.
  25. You're overthinking it. Just take the blade out and run the shoe along a form for smaller pours. The vibration does all the work for you.
