  1. A shaper would be fine except they are so big and heavy especially for half a 2 car garage. Also I already had a router to go in it. I needed something that could easily be moved around. I went with the bench dog from rockler. It was on sale at the time. The porter cable router I already had wasn't light. I didn't want to risk having sag by going with a laminate or phenolic option.
  2. @Dan McCartney When you press the trigger do you hear motor noise but no blade movement or nothing at all? If you hear noise then your transmission might be shot. I had my DCS355 omt have its transmission go bad. The gears inside are supposedly plastic. After 2 years of what I would call extreme use (multiple sessions fully draining a flexvolt 2/6 ah battery). It would have been a $200 fix.
  3. The DeWALT cordless nailers are a bit big.
  4. I didn't think about the switch tank. Good idea.
  5. You ideally will want a camera that can see infrared. Also in conjunction with the camera if you want better visibility you could add a light with infrared capabilities. One option would be the LIFX + line of light bulbs.
  6. Many drones can automatically land if the battery drops below a certain threshold.
  7. @RattleSnake I haven't seen much about it. I'm not a big fan of 2 stage. They may have more power and capacity but for a small snow they are just too slow. The lack of wheel motors on the single stage means I can pretty much go as fast as I want. My area gets a bunch of the 1-3 in snows but hardly any that are considered big snows.
  8. I suppose I might just say whatever ideas come to mind Why not go all out and features all the things. An update to the tool connect batteries that allow them to work with tool connect vacs, aws vacs/adapter, and festool vacs. A tough system vac dual flexvolt 150+ cfm 4 gallon container. A premium level miter saw to rival the Kapex, new Metabo HPT, and new Makita's with modern features like dust collection (that isn't garbage), micro adjust, and compact or rail forward design. updated DCF887 with dual bearings, more specialty modes, more refined instead of more powerful Maybe a multi chuck drill driver since they seem to be gaining popularity over here. A better track saw that is at least on par with the Makita Reciprocating saws. Where do we start. For the big full size it needs orbital, dual speed switch or even tool connect model, higher quality trigger, and antivibration features. The compact needs vibration reduction and rafter hook. Backpack flexvolt vac. dual flexvolt premium table saw with a built in slider and 3/4 in dado stack support. An impact wrench large enough and powerful enough to take the lugs off a heavy haul mining dump truck flexvolt drone for jobsite purposes. Maybe it could be used in surveying or building layout, maybe site planning, etc. flexvolt trailer vallet. Can move any class 4 trailer gvwr of 10,000 lbs or less. Basically if your 150/1500 range pickup can move it, this can too. lawn mower that isn't bad. Flexvolt would be ideal. Maybe some lights and self propulsion as well. Flexvolt chop saw. one version for the toothed blades and another for abrasive blades. Lighting solutions that benefit from Flexvolt Lighting solutions in general (they have gotten better in the past few years though) Ultra quiet flexvolt compressor. Maybe tough system compatible redesign the contractor bag and blow mold case factories to make specifically tough system. This will help drive prices down so that every kit, where it makes sense, can come in a Tough System instead of a contractor bag or blow mold case and still be financially feasible. updated power supply with simultaneous 8 amp charging for 4 batteries. Maybe it could have space for 8 batteries for better runtimes and for help to achieve 2000 or even 3000 watts. It would be pure sine as well and have a good quality surge protector. It can run off 4 or 8 batteries and each battery can be hot swappable as long as there are at least 4 batteries in the power supply at all times. gen 2 4 bay fast charger with the 12 ah charge rate of the newer fast chargers. 360 crossline laser but with 20v max support instead of 12v max also comes in tough system instead of tstak. Would have green and red options with plumb markers and tool connect standard. Select a color laser level. would give the user the option to select what color of laser they want so that those who have troubles seeing certain colors will have the best option that works for them. Maybe a flexvolt powered material delivery system which especially good for roofing crews. Whether it be a full blown conveyor or some kind of device that secures to a ladder. 300+ cfm vac that can compete with the new bosch and hilti 300 cfm vacs. quieter, more refined tools that don't sacrificed performance. You gotta be able to hear the radio right? flexvolt fluid transfer pump that will also do oils and flammables. flexvolt engine hoist successor to lithium ion battery tech. impact rated collated attachment for framing screws. It would attach to any of their newer brushless impact drivers or drill/hammer drill drivers. Could withstand the wear, tear, and abuse of a framing site. It has an auto reload feature so that refilling an empty screw strip is fast and easy. Flexvolt concrete grinder Omt with anti vibration, noise reduction and the starlock and universal fit hybrid I saw awhile back that make either connection compatible. Omt with the smoothness and control of a Fein but with the power of flexvolt flexvolt jobsite kitchen essentials flexvolt microwave flexvolt water heater/coffee maker flexvolt minifridge/tough system powered cooler flexvolt grill flexvolt toaster oven x lock grinders prescription saftey glasses that don't fog up with a full seal. 20v max full face respirator that is user friendly, comfortable, and beard compatible. flexvolt toaster oven
  9. Maybe he means feather the trigger? I see some guys do it with their impacts Instead of holding the trigger until the screw is close to being set they alternate between on and off of the trigger until the screw is set. I'm not a fan of this method. It wears out the trigger quicker and takes longer to set a screw in some cases.
  10. I attached the top to the base.
  11. Base is mostly built. Just needs two pieces of plywood cut then it will be done.
  12. I was about to ask "Isn't the Tough System Vac already out?" then I realized it's Tstak not Tough System.
  13. Last I knew the Festool attachments only fit the 18v Festool. If you want to go with Fein, may I suggest going with the Supercut over the Multimaster? It is a more versatile offering and has better performance. The price tag may be higher but with the better performance may bring time savings that might save money in the long run especially if you go with the cordless option. Also the fact you can fit Starlock, Starlock Plus, and Starlock Max with one unit is nice. The Multimaster does not fit Starlock Max. The 18v Festool is basically an 18v Supercut with a few Festool design tweaks so you will get similar performance as the Supercut and it is compatible with all 3 Starlock blade types.
  14. Ordered a Bench Dog cast iron router table from Rockler. Comes with a metal stand and a fence. Should arrive Tuesday. I also got a 6 in Diablo carbide blade for thick metal and two DeWALT 24 in trigger clamps with the 600 lb rating from Home Depot. I also got the Ego snowblower with the 2 5.0’s, a Knipex pliers wrench, a new towball/hitch from Menards. The final thing I got is my most expensive tool purchase ever. I got a 2013 f-150 fx4. It was a single owner with 109,000 mostly road miles. I didn’t have a preference on brand. This one just happened to meet my criteria with flying colors.
  15. I got the old bench taken apart. No pictures of the progress since it is mostly me making the shop slightly less clean. I am going to reuse some of the pieces. Maybe a 50/50 split between new and reused pieces. The old legs, some screws, the wheels, and some 2x material can be reused. The rest will half to be new.

You shouldn't have any problems except warranty. 20v max and 18v are basically one in the same. 18v is actual voltage under load and 20v is basically a nominal voltage essentially the equivalent of a 2x4 board and a 1-1/2 in x 3-1/2 in board.
  17. Got the top assembled. I just have to work on the base now.
  18. Worked on routing out the holes with the lr-32. seemed to work alright.
  19. I'm on the fence about Milwaukees warranty. 5 years is more than most, but the catch is it is only a limited warranty.
  20. @paulengr I was talking specifically the gen 3 drill and impact. Their thermal issues are more than just a wrong battery in my opinion.
  21. @Fireguy116 one reason to stick with Makita is reliability/thermals. I have heard the Gen 3 Milwaukee drill and impact tend to overheat quite easily. I haven't used them personally. Also you should be able to get Makita at Home Depot since you have one nearby. Also online retailers like Acme tools, Toolnut, etc. sell Makita and you tend to find pretty good deals on pretty much any of the major brands and new deals tend to arrive at the beginning of the month. I don't know if you like online shopping but it may be something to consider.
  22. I am on the fence about universal batteries. On the one hand, I don't want the big companies like DeWALT, Makita, Milwaukee, etc. to standardize. It may be more convenient but less room for innovation. On the other hand, for the smaller companies like Greenlee, Graco, Mac, etc. it makes a lot of sense to not have to make their own battery. They just use someone else's to save cost and whatnot.
  23. Seems like you guys get Ego stuff we don't as well. I'm still waiting on a brush cutter to be available for where I live. Many European Ego products aren't available in North America. I did see that Europe is getting the gen 3 though. Wow your guys prices are a lot higher. I heard the gen 3 over here will only cost around $600-$700 with the 7.5 ah. Over $1000 would be commercial grade territory.
  24. Many European Ego aren't available in North America. I did see that Europe is getting the gen 3.
  25. They may be behind in the battery cell game but they are ahead in terms of vac activation via the battery. I don't know of any other company that activates their vacs via the battery. Some batteries like the DeWALT tool connect battery have the potential to wirelessly connect to vacs but don't because DeWALT decided to go in a different direction. I would rather buy a couple bluetooth batteries than upgrade all my tools that need dust collection.
