  1. @Cameron which saws go out of square? or maybe they all do? How have the Flexvolt done? I know instead of the steel the 20v saws use, the flexvolt use magnesium. Maybe it would keep square better? Have you had experience with both the 575 and the 577? Is there any means to square up the bed plate on any of the saws?
  2. Not always true. I don't want to argue about it but the "Nobody competes with DEWALT", "DeWALT is always the best", or "DeWALT never breaks or have problems" is kinda getting old. DeWALT has good tools that beat other tools and DeWALT has bad tools that don't beat other tools. DeWALT has tools that break and DEWALT has tools that don't break. Period end of story.

    Cyber Truck

Did anyone watch the Cyber Truck unveil? I don't regularly watch vehicle unveils but I thought I would watch this one since it is a truck. Would anyone use this for work or is the design too different? Many seemed on the fence if they liked the truck or not. Some of the features are nice like the ramp built into the tailgate, built in bed cover, places to hook up air/220v/110v, and super tough exoskeleton. I thought at first the back seat wouldn't have much head room but I saw a video of a 6'5" guy say he had plenty of room. The specs are good. 6.5' bed, 500+ mile range, 14,000 lb towing, 3500 lb payload, and a 0-60 in under 3 seconds for the highest tier option. The footprint is roughly that of an f150. The lowest tier option starts at $39,000 but has rwd only, less towing, slower 0-60, and less range. The payload is the same between the three tiers. A couple concerns I had were the lack of side mirrors. For a vehicle designed to tow, you can't just replace a towing mirror with a camera. You wont get the same functionality. Another issue I have is there is no screen in front of the driver meaning to see important vehicle information like your current speed requires you to have to turn your head away from the road to look at the center console.
  4. It is not for sale at the moment. It was one my uncle gave to me when he decided to retire from his cabinet business. I am going to add a router lift kit to it and have it dedicated for router table use.
  5. Due to how the dust bags work, they do filter to an extent because the vac has to be able to pull air through the bag.
  6. The ds150 equivalent 2.0 box no longer has the lid tray. The lids in all the boxes have been thinned down. The box does has some new bins which are different than the ones in the half size organizer. There is one bin on each side instead of two and they now have a clear lid. The new tray system only comes in 2 sizes and sold separate from the boxes. Two of the small trays will equal the height of one large tray. The trays will also be available with or without a clear lid. It sounds like the new tray system won’t be a launch item.
  7. @Moze I don't see why it wouldn't work. It has autoclean and a reasonably good amount of suction. The osha rule of thumb is 25 cfm per diameter of tool. I think there are other rules and exemptions depending on the vac, material being suctioned, and location. I would imagine for a little drywall you will be fine. You could maybe look into osha requirements to figure out if the tasks you will use the vac for are compliant. If there is no information on the flexvolt vac, you could contact osha themselves to see what they say. I regards to the fleece bags are they filter bags or are they for storing material? Some smaller vacs come with a filter bag that covers the opening where a regular rigid filter could go. If they are filters then I would recommend getting a regular rigid filter. they tend to work better in my opinion. if the bag is intended for storing the material you vac up then it is probably disposable unless it specifically says it is reusable. The vac I have has bags that are intended to be disposable/one time use but I can buy a model that can be used more than once. I don't know if the DeWALT is the same way.
  8. @fm2176 I found the gen 1 latches were inconsistent depending on which box you used. Some latches were way too easy to latch and others were a bear to try and latch. The original latch on the gen 1 were easier to latch than the updated version with the metal pin but they didn't hold as well. I think it is hard to tell the holding force on the gen 2 latches. The new latches have the spring loaded feature which may make for a weaker latch but the latches seem beefier which may make the latch stronger so it might be a wash.
  9. the new 2020 model will probably be the XGT 40v max model if it comes in 2020
  10. @FSD I have had my DCS355 omt break. The transmission was shot. To repair the tool was more expensive than to buy one brand new. I have yet to buy a replacement but it would have been unwise to fix my old one. I would not put any more money into yours because one brand new is regularly close to $100 I even saw the new DCS356 omt for close to $100
  11. DeWALT unveiled the Tough System 2.0 at STAFDA 2019. We already knew it was rumored to be coming but it was officially shown off. We are getting a ds150 equivalent, ds300 equivalent, and a ds450 equivalent at the launch. A ds400 and an organizer are coming later. Back when I saw prototype images I wasn't sure what was new besides looks but there has been quite a few improvements. The lid latches now have an automatically locking feature. It is as simple as setting a box on a 2.0 lid and it's already locked. The front latches also got an update. They look to be a hybrid of the 1.0 latches and Packout latches. The gen 2 boxes also have a spot for a label like you get with tstak. The 2.0 lids also have the ability to lock onto a new half width organizer. The organizer locks into a bracket on the center of the lid and the side latch. You can fit 2 half width organizers on one full width lid. The new organizers have updated bins inside which you can instal dividers in a bin for more customizable organization of small parts. 6 bins come in one organizer. I don't have any information on what will come with the ds150 equivalent. If it comes with bins I would like to see the updated organizer bins included instead of the old bins. I don't know if it has a lid tray or not. The lift out tray that normally comes with the 300, 400, and 450 have gotten a significant upgrade. They are now available in at least 2 sizes same length and width but different heights. They are stackable and lockable. They appear to have foam available for them as well. Normally they rest at the very bottom but tabs can be pulled out to allow a tray to rest on the upper part of the box like the 1.0 tray did. The 2.0 boxes have backwards compatibility with the 1.0 boxes but I am not sure how much backwards compatibility. I only saw the 2.0 stuff on top of the 1.0 stuff and did not see the 1.0 on top the 2.0. I also don't know if the new trays are compatible with the 1.0 boxes. I did not see 2.0 version of the drawer unit, cooler, full width organizer, and tote. I did not see an updated wall rack, van rack, or dolley but they are all compatible with 2.0
  12. STAFDA 2019 is here. There is lots of new products. Makita has a new 2x 9in cutoff saw coming with bind protection and a light. There is also an updated 18v string trimmer coming. Also a new charging radio is coming which is a first for Makita. The 18v planner is getting an update with brushless motor and AWS compatibility. There was also a new cordless metal punch, grease gun, wobble style light, and more. Diablo has some new self feed bits coming. They are noticeably faster than the Milwaukees they went against. There is also a new carbide scroll blade for the recip and a new hvac blade for the recip. Also Diablo updated their blades to fit x-lock. Also there is a new carbide metal recip blade that they used to cut a solid piece of cast iron round stock. Some new "Rebar Demon" full carbid concrete drill bits were unveiled. DeWALT had a new 12 amp fast charger. Charges a 12.0 in about 1 hour. Also there is a new "hackzall" style of recip coming to the 12v line looks like the Atomic but in 12v. The rumored coil nailer has finally be unveiled. It is specifically for roofing. It does not do siding. It has a 3 to 4 nail a second rate of fire. Tough System 2.0 was also there. They had the 130/50 equivalent, the 300 equivalent, 400 equivalent, and the 450 equivalent. The front latches have seen an update. They are similar to Packout now. The side latches auto latch now. Just drop and go. They are also compatible with gen 1. They can at least attach via the top of gen 1. I'm not sure if gen 1 can go on top of gen 2. The Gen 2 stuff also has label spots like with tstak. There is also a new tool tray that fits in boxes which are connectable to each other. There is now a half width organizer with updated bins. The original recip, grinder, and blade right circular saw in the flexvolt line are getting updates with updated motors and electronics. They also seem to be coming with 9.0's and new model names (the recip still lacks a rafter hook). Bosch has a couple new sds max hammers. One is 1-3/8" and the other is 1-3/4". The media said there was other stuff but they have to keep quiet about it for now.
  13. The ideal situation is scrap xgt and just make 21700 lxt batteries but since that is not going to be the case we at the very least need two adapters one to fit an xgt battery on lxt tools and another to fit 2 xgt batteries on x2 tools.
  14. What is the advantage of a pure sine wave? Also if I'm not mistaken the new MX Fuel power supply is pure sine.
  15. It is nice and all but another battery platform from the company who said would use one battery for all your tools. Milwaukee said they wouldn't need higher voltage or tools powered by two batteries. m18/m12 battery chargers.
  16. There was an attempt at something similar to x lock that used sds naming but it did not do well. All I can find is SDS clic but I'm not sure if that was it. Uses a different kind of flange nut. I can't remember where I heard about this previous attempt. Was probably a video somewhere.
  17. Bosch has a cordless plunge saw coming. With a mode traditional form factor and not the track compatible carpentry saw we already saw. The battery appears to be in front of the motor. I can't tell if it uses a dual battery design. I wouldn't be surprised if it only uses one core battery. I don't know if it will be coming to the NA market. The video I watched was at their German headquarters. On another note there is something else that supposedly has lots of power coming but other than that I know nothing else. The man in the video wasn't sure if he could talk about it or not.
  18. @Jjwillac The power supply and light are not coming at launch. The cheapest tool kit is $2000
  19. I got the Flex grinder and recip. I also have a fair bit of Ego. I got their power head system with a few attachments, the 530 cfm blower, brushed hedge trimmer, and commercial grade string trimmer. The Ego stuff is quite nice. Hard to go wrong with Ego. The Ego has enough power for my uses. I do lawn care for a living.
  20. The Multivolt recip is quite good. I can't remember what the Multivolt vs Super Sawzall outcome was but it wasn't far off.
  21. nice. Would at least allow you to stock up on m12 batteries if you don't need all the tools.
  22. Wow that's a nice shop. I've liked the idea of having a dedicated office in a shop. I'm not too familiar with machine/metalworking but the drafting is one thing I like to do. I also did a bit of 3d printing in school. I get to use half of a roughly 24'x24' 2 car garage. It is more like I get 2 quarters of the garage because my side is split into 2 sections: one for my lawn care equipment and one for my wood working. It would be nice to have my own space separate from where I live but I try to make do with my current space.
  23. Makita announced a handful of different lighting solutions at GIE 2019. There is a smaller unit that creates 3000 lumens for roughly $149 and anther that creates 10,000 for $199. Both are hybrid powered:corded or cordless. The 3000 lumen option has one battery slot and the 10,000 lumen light has a dual battery slot that can run off one or 2 batteries. There will be a wide base tripod coming out that will be able to fit up to 2 of the new lights. They are also have Makitas XPT rating. You can leave it outside and not worry about it getting ruined by rain. Also a new handheld spot light is coming.
