connor22
I am looking to buy a tool which will enable me to cut car wheels into eights, in order to melt them in a medium sized crucible. So far the tool of choice has been an oxy propane cutter, however this is very time consuming ! I have been looking at the "HTC Evolution RAGE Twin155 155mm Twin Blade Saw 240 Volt" however I am dubious that it will make the grade.http://www.building-supplies-online.co.uk/htc-evolution-rage-twin155-155mm-twin-blade-saw-240-volt.html?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=datafeed&utm_campaign=google-shopping&gclid=CjwKEAiAxZKmBRD_5cCvs8SbxXsSJADZBCmdeOyxuzq1krDCrW8PwmI2DHtIADPQoFopr9MsTrd2YhoC5sDw_wcBIF anyone can recommend this tool before I commit, or any other tool that will cut through solid metal without going through a blade every 5 minutes,, then please let me know !Cheers.-Con
DR99
I don't know about that specific evolution saw but some of the carbide tipped saw blades are pretty amazing at what they can cut through. This might be your best option I don't know if it will work in your situation though. The big this is let the tool do the work don't force it. http://www.evolutionpowertools.com/uk/steel/evosaw355.php
comp56
if your cutting with any type of blade with aluminum use vinegar for cooling if possible
framer
wouldn't it be easier and faster to break the wheels into pieces? most cast wheels are brittle. use a press, or sledge hammer. lol
woodstockva
A band saw would be my suggestion.....look for a full size floor model on Craigslist.....I got my dad a $50 one about this time last year. Aluminum is much softer than steel, so the teeth should hold up for a long time if you are not forcing the wheels through.
