When we are talking line laser I think it's okay with the small 10,8/12 v battery to maintain the small size on the lasers..And when you are able to change the 10,8/12 in your 18/20v charger I don't see the problem..

but most users, and pros especially, will have 20v(18v) systems.  so it seems odd to design a laser to be used by pros, with a 12v battery.

Right, it's not like the Milwaukee 12 volt line which is more widely used.
