  1. Exactly. If you can control the trigger properly then it really isn't necessary and you can usually work faster.. just that most people can't feather the trigger very well... my makita xdt09 has 3 speeds and a t-mode (mostly used for steel stud framing but pretty neat) I almost never take it out of speed 3.. it's not a bad feature to have but I wouldn't let it sway your buying decision a huge amount.
  2. Very unexciting... I know this makes the grip more comfortable but I almost always use my m12 tools with a compact battery because when I reach for my compact stuff I want it to be as small as possible. Having an xc battery or slide pack on them makes them too bulky in my opinion.. Im liking the battery charge indicator though!!
  3. Mike, not sure how your response slipped by me but I'm just seeing it now... I knew you dewalt guys must love that song.. how much do you think dewalt paid him to write that!! Haha Good call on getting the 6.5' trailer height!! I ordered mine sight unseen and it was my first trailer so i got the 6' ceiling it's just too low and one of my only regrets about the trailer good luck with the build out, bummer about the workshop but family has gotta come first. Good man I hope the knee is recovering well!
  4. Innovation at its finest!! That thing is a beautie
  5. Any new info on the 18v reciprocating saw? I know some people saw it at WOC anything new or an ETA??
  6. That would be bad ass! I've got the 36v 7 1/4 sidewinder and the brushless 6 1/2 saws and they are both great The new bl saw Islamists powerful as the 36v though I can't imagine what they could do with a brushless 36v saw!!
  7. Just checked the milwaukees.. the old brushed model is around 2750rpm. The new brushless non fuel is about 2800. The current fuel is 2900 and the 2nd Gen fuel not yet released is 3000 not a huge difference in speed in my opinion. The torque is around 1500,1550,1600,1800 respectively. Maybe that 1800 in lbs makes a big difference but I would say that even 1500 is plenty of torque for 99% of what you will be using it for. You might do just fine still using what you have. If your itching to upgrade and see the biggest difference possible I would wait for the 2nd Gen fuel.
  8. Check the rpm's... most all of them will have plenty of power to do what you want but the faster the bit spins the faster your gonna drive a screw.. I use makita but my last impacts were around 2300rpm and my newest xdt09 is 3600rpm. The difference is incredible. This this is crazy fast! That helps me get the job done faster. to me multi speed is unnecessary once you learn good trigger control.
  9. I love me a good cup of coffee.. black is the only way I roll. No sugar or milk to screw with it... a few years ago I got into espresso, I use the nespresso system, same idea as keurig but brews really damn good espresso shots. On the weekend when I have a bit more time in the morning and want a cup to sip I use a chemex pour over coffee maker.. old school style but makes the best cup of coffee you will ever taste in my opinion.. Lazy days or road trips it's usually Starbucks
  10. Congrats man!! Your posts are always a great read!
  11. Once you get a domino you will never look back and wonder how you ever got by without it.. I fund myself using mine for all sorts of stuff. Love that thing. If it was lost or stolen I would replace it in an instant.
  12. That makita will whip up a batch of thin set no problem. Do it all the time. I don't think the drill is over powered at all. It has great delivery of the power.. plenty of clutch settings if you want to tone it down and the extra grunt when you need it. Excellent drill!!
  13. Love that drill. Bad ass man! Get the 6.5 BL circ saw. You won't regret it.. excellent saw
  14. The foldable Fastcap chisels are actually pretty decent.. I keep a 3/4 in my vest all the time.. sturdy as all hell, sharpens nice and holds a pretty good edge.
  15. I would be surprised if there was any difference between the fat max and Dewalt very likely they are just rebranded fatmax
  16. The guy who works for me is a huge Bears fan.. I should get him on here so you have a friend.. they say misery loves company! Haha
  17. Let's assume you have been working seriously since 18. That means you have 14 years of work under your belt. Figuring you might work until your 60, another 28 years. means your only 33% through your working life.. wouldn't you rather spend the other 67% doing something you truly love!! Go for it man!!
  18. I definitely wouldn't have called it a "huge" problem I have been professionally using makita 18v tools for the last 7 or so years and have batteries from 5 years ago that are still working fine. The problem was that when lithium battery tools were frst released, over discharge protection wasn't built into the tools and batteries like they are today.. When lithium ion battery's are allowed to discharge beyond a certain voltage it will permanently damage the battery.. this issue has long since been solved, for like at least 5 or so years. The batteries that have a star on the housing are definitely protected.. I owned old batteries without stars and never once had a battery fail me within less than 3 or so years of hard use.. all my current batteries have been going at least 5 years with no issues. All tools and batteries sold today will have no issues.
  19. We were all noobs at one point. Welcome and looking forward to seeing you around. Great four here with tons of helpful knowledgeable people. You will be graduating from noob level in no time!
  20. Wow..... I don't even know what to say to that!!!! Hit a dear going up hill!! The stupid thing must have heard and seen you coming a mile away. I can believe it didn't move. Your damn lucky he didn't get pissed and lay his rack into you!! I 100% thought you were gonna say you were tearing as downhill and it ran out in front of you. Man, I have never been further from correct. Haha That is a memory you will surely never forget and like c Harris said, would have been a perfect gopro moment! Great story!!
  21. August 1 we will hear about it officially.
  22. also i was doing all that on my phone and to get multi quote i would have needed to switch from mobile to desktop version which isnt as easy to see or navigate on my phone.
  23. haha yeah i know, and i do when i feel like multiple posts all pertain to my one response.. when everyone gets an individual response though i find it a little easier to manage doing it this way and also possibly easier for people to find the response meant for them
  24. "They say money can't buy happiness, but it can definitely buy tools!" That's gotta go on the back of the next TIA shirt! Haha. Perfect! Welcome to the forum man, your gonna fit in just fine around here
  25. "If your into bigger passengers" what the heck is that supposed to mean!?! You saying my wife is a big girl! Lol. I'm just messing with you man! Haha Excellent advice and thank you just yesterday when driving down the highway I was looking at what color cars were the easiest to see coming and black was definitely one of the hardest to see at a distance.. I guess no black bike or gear for me!! I've considered a gopro for that reason but thought of mounting it to the bike somewhere.. should it be on the helmet for any reason? Front or rear facing?
