  1. What exactly do you do? Shop built or site built? Cabentry, general carpentry, misc projects? Want kind of feel are you going for? High end, big sounding business, local small business?? Fill in any other helpful info you can think of I'm not saying I'll be able to come up with the best name for you out of this info but it might also help start others in the right direction.. By wine country do you mean Cali?
  2. Lots of good advice here. I will second on wera, fluke, knipex all being great brands that I use. As another has said, stabila makes great levels As for a hammer, I'm going to go out on a limb and reccomend stiletto but only if it will be hanging off your belt all day.. If not go with whatever. The stiletto fm10c sells for around 75 or 80 compared to 30-40 for a nice steel hammer but that extra $40 gets you a great hammer that you won't even feel hanging on your belt. It has great balance and feel and is just a joy yo use! Don't be fooled because its a 10oz hammer. I replaced my 20oz estwing smooth face with this hammer and never once regretted it.
  3. To save even more money, just one 3.0ah battery will last you all day and you could just charge it at night
  4. If you already have the Makita/Milwaukee. Have you considered just buying a few batteries on eBay? New or used you could probably get 2 batteries for less than the cost of a new radio.. That also give a you the flexibility of buying tools from that manufacturer in the future if you wanted. Older technology Full size 3.0ah or even smaller 1.5ah compacts can be found for pretty cheap and will give plenty of runtime in a radio
  5. Luckily it seems like a Makita has an update right around the corner so they will suck no more!!
  6. Hahaha. You must be right because the Makita definetly does suck!! At least mine does.. I have a feeling that mine actually sucks more than most though. There has to be something wrong with mine. its the first old old serial number model so maybe that has something to do with it
  7. Pretty sweet! Next stop, Hollywood
  8. Not bad actually!! I cracked a good smile on that one!
  9. I agree with you on that. My problem with smoking isn't the time it takes, it's that on a residential site, usually a customer occupied home, I don't think non smoking guys on site and especially my customers should have to deal with smelling the smoke or having butts thrown in their yard.. To solve this I just ask that they walk to the street or to the dumpster, if its far enough from the house, to have their smoke and then properly dispose of the butt. I see it as mostly a respect and courtesy to my customers and also a distinction between my company and all the others.
  10. Nice work Mike!! Priceless memories made with your gramps right there and I'm sure grandma is so much happier and safer now that she doesn't have to climb over the lip of the tub!! You could have very well prevented her from taking a fall by doing this project.. That's gotta make you feel great. Other than that dewalt light, what tools did you get to use on this project?
  11. Welcome to the forum! Have you seen dewalts new 40v max backpack blower? Pretty cool stuff
  12. The cigarette thing is a no no for me on my jobs!! I make any of my sub's go out to the street or to the dumpster (if its far away from the house) to smoke. I don't think my customers should have to be breathing smoke anywhere near their house just because contractors are at their home and personally I don't want to breathe it either.. Definetly no butts thrown on the ground even if its the street!
  13. Excellent work!! What a transformation!!
  14. Coming along nicely! Would you consider boxing in the area above the closet that looks like it is going to end up being a shelf . just frame 2 little walls that connect from the top if the right side of the closet up to the ceiling. Unless you have a use for that space it might make it look neater and it will be one less place for dust to collect!
  15. Same as fletcher, this has been around a bit but it never gets old!! Hey... Maybe the guy on the bottom is a plumbers apprentice and that's how they get their plumbers crack!!

  19. Definetly gotta have a heat gun in the arsenal! Very useful tool that really has no other substitutes in a lot of situations . I use a variable temp makita
