  1. Fun Fact brushless motors are actually AC motors (AC=corded power) when used in cordless tools the tool takes the DC current from the battery turns it into AC current and then uses the frequency to control the speed of the tool. Hence the reason why if you look at the inside of a brushless tool the wiring and circuitry takes up a lot more room, and why you cant just buy a brushless motor solder it in and go to town. So turns out corded tools have always been brushless, and brushless motors are very far from new technology.
  2. Well that was already a given with the brad and finishing gun
  3. So ran across the ones you guys made for 2014 a year ago and thought hey lets start one for next year. There worth looking back at some of them were true some never happened, here is the Link. So my 8 predictions for 2015. 1. Tool companies will realize that there are lithium ion cells that will make thin packs that put out over 3 amps and thick packs that have over 6.5 amps. 2. Dewalt will make a push on its 12 volt line with new tools (including a brushless drill and impact) that are included in the already in the M12 line and then realize Milwaukee has established c monopoly on 12 volt power tools. 3. Makita will come out with more 18 volt tools that are really stuff you only kind of need, to try keep there title as the biggest 18 volt lineup, as Milwaukee comes closer and closer to take the title. 4. Dewalt will make a huge push in there 20V line up (most of the tools released will already be featured in the M18 line) and discontinue up to half of the old 18 volt lineup still sitting around. 5. By mid fall all new cordless power tools released by Dewalt, Milwaukee, Makita will be brushless and we will be stuck with Fuel, XR, and BL stamped on tools for the rest of history. 6. Bosch induction charging will be released in stores and no one will care, then about 9 months later Milwaukee will come out with the same principle call it something else and everyone on team Red will Brag like its brand new technology from NASA. 7. There will be boatloads of tool fight videos of the cordless Makita, Milwaukee, and Dewalt Miter Saws when they finally are all available in north america. 8. Dan will cut himself on something during another episode of tool talk.
  4. I think I heard up too 15 hours off a 1.5 amp pack, correct me if i'm wrong. There is one thing I hate about the Dewalt 20V radios are you cant see the battery fuel gauges because the way the battery is orientated.
  5. Yea I need to get a the tamper-proof bit to get inside them look at the chip and see what it does, I will probably run it on an oscilloscope and try to counteract it with some small microcontroller inside the adapter.
  6. Update 2: Good news and Bad news Bad News: The price just to print them is pretty pricey Good news: I have pre-ordered a 3D printer for 100$ and it looks very promising. More Bad News: It might be a few months before I get it because its a start up and is not in full production yet.
  7. I really wish they made a box the size of the one with 2 drawers but make the drawers thinner and have 4 instead or maybe a combination of 1 normal drawer and 2 half size drawers above it, looking at what my experienced coworkers needed when working as a heavy duty mechanic, if they built that into it I think I might finally make the jump and buy the system. Because when we get road calls on school buses I would say a good 10-20 minutes is spent gathering tools and parts. I would love to have a grab and go solution and having shallow drawers for wrenches and sockets would be great.
  8. mine was a 100 piece mastercraft screwdriver set.
  9. I have had the Leatherman Wave for 4 Years still no complaints.
  10. In Canada we got Kijiji its pretty much the same just take out the online "dating" portion of craigslist. But here is one of the best I have seen.
  11. I look at Makitas and I feel like if they develop a cordless one they should have gone through the effort to make it compact. It looks too big with the fact that it has tons of slide.
  12. Makita has one that runs of off 2 18 volt batteries that would destroy.
  13. I would go with Logger Head because I like supporting the Inventor, Because Sears literally screwed them over.
  14. My secret is to never use them before I already have a buyer lined up. The farthest I go is to turn them on to make sure they work.
  15. I would Say go with a 36 volt you get a lot more power and run time than 18 volt, If you are lucky and already have Makita 18V I would have to go with the new 18Vx2 Rotary hammer It has the SDS-Plus style chuck and seems like It fits the application you need pretty darn well. Its only 7.5 lbs without the battery.
  16. Yea Dewalt Max-Fit kits in Canada are 25% full with number 2 Robertson Bits.
  17. Come to Canada we use Robertson (square drive) screws as much as you use Philips head ones in the states. I cant believe you don't have them down there you can use them one handed without needing you bits to be insanely magnetized.
  18. I have heard these are ok if you just want a multly purpose wrench. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BYSMCS/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944687702&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B009XMFYKC&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1H52GA7PPQH8V8HSCPCV
  19. Heck I can Buy the absolute top of the line Mac tools Service Cart for 300$ more.
  20. So I had a few people say I should do this and post about what I have bought from pawn shops or the classified adds, and sold for some cash to spend. To date. Dewalt Kit DCD771 and DCF885 Paid 100$ keeping it for now. Dewalt DCR18 Compact Radio Paid 40$ keeping it. Dewalt XR kit DCD790 and DCF886 Paid 120$ keeping it. Milwaukee Super Hawg Paid 260$ Sold it for 320$. Dewalt/Simpson Quick Drive Auto Screw gun Paid 190$ sold for 250$ Dewalt 36 Volt SDS Hammer and dust extraction kit Paid 525$ sold for 600$
  21. I actually do it a lot to make some money while i'm in my last year of high school. Sometimes I keep them because there good to have around or for going back to being a heavy duty mechanic when i'm done school. Sometimes I consider making a topic about my buying and selling.
  22. I have a DCD985 but I thought do I want to spend an hour and have my arms want to fall off.
  23. Yea last week I got a hold of a almost brand new Dewalt 36 volt SDS Rotatory hammer kit with the attached cordless dust extraction unit the from my local pawn shop for 525$. I used it to drill some holes in the foundation of my aunts house for a reno they had to do. I feel like 36 volt batteries are more suited to that kind of tool, I used 1 battery drilling 20 holes and then spending 45 minutes destroying some extra patio stones in there back yard with my cousin, and after all that the thing didn't show any signs of significant power drain. It was probably one of the funnest tools I have used in a while. I then sold it to a guy for 600$, witch is crazy because to get it new It costs 1000$.
  24. After holding my drill beside my screen for 2 minutes I 99% sure your right. Yea it has all the same gaps and everything. The 2 wider Copper plates with the 2 metallic plates between them. It looks like it has a 6 inch slide capacity witch is great, I feel like at that size its going to be compact enough to tote around and not have tons of slide hanging out the back.
  25. That driver right there is for my generation a bunch of internet loving teenage boys who are single because they don't know how to talk to a girl.
