  1. They were all open box items that people buy and return. They just take up space on their floor. My approach is always "do you want to get rid of your clearance merchandise?" Im pitching that I'm helping THEM out. Did I need TWO radios? No. But the more I take off the more discount I get.
  2. lol. Ok... I lied. It was $108.25 with tax.
  3. Just walked in a local lowes a picked up: Gyroscopic Screwdriver 20V Drill/Impact Set Lam Trimmer TWO Jobsite Radios Spent $100 Original Retail: $555.00
  4. The one by my house is the best but this process works everywhere around here. I have 5 Lowes within a 20 mile radius and I sometimes make rounds of stopping by all the Lowes on a weekend or rainy day just to search for deals.
  5. Wow.... All three of mine are true all the way around. My Johnson level was only true horizontally one way. If it was flipped, it was off.
  6. Here's the best method to getting the BEST deals on NEW tools. It works best at Lowes. Most important step is to make friends with the staff. Bring donuts or something to the Pro-Desk staff on occasion. The zone manager covers the pro deal, Lumber, building materials, tools & hardware. Strike up conversations and learn how that manager likes to run things. Act as if you're genuinely interested in the business processes and you'll build rapport and get whatever you want. Learn their margins and know when their inventory is along with major merchandise resets. this REALLY helps when you need an occasional favor. A colleague needed a shop compressor immediately and we got 20% off an IR 80 gallon. *Lowes stickers: On Non-Stock items, the price stickers print a tiny little "N" on the bottom of the larger stickers, to the right of the smaller stickers. Non-stock are your BEST deals as they want to get rid of that stuff. *Zone managers have the ability to mark products down to 10% of the original retail value without flagging the system. *Keep an eye out for returned tools that were most likely bought for single use jobs and returned. Most department managers don't like that stuff taking up precious room. I bought THREE $1100 compressors that were repaired, taking up room in the store for $450 each. Sold two for $750 each making mine FREE. *Everything Is negotiable. It takes some time but becoming friends is key. I've bought thousands of dollars in merchandise for a few hundred bucks. DeWalt Hammer/Impact Combo: $50, Was returned open. Last week I bought $900 worth of random clearance & non stock odds and ends, display tools, packages missing parts, etc, for $20. A whole cart FULL. Earlier this year I bought three shopping carts full of electrical clearance stuff for $65. Dimmers, receptions, wire, tools, etc. This works at HD too but the deals aren't as great. They have a progressive markdown system and lots of mgrs don't venture away from that.
  7. The question is, since it's German made, does it hold a U.S. patent?
  8. Mine finally arrived yesterday with a bent 102" track. Kind of pissed. Of course Lowes' only solution is to return the package and re-order.
  9. I definitely see a need for this to go with the UTBG.

  11. By the time they're no good for anything, the carbide teeth are beginning to break off. I show them the missing teeth and voila.
  12. Found this.... http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=tnlvau40o8u19h71nkkf9b0083&action=dlattach;topic=25152.0;attach=176174;image
  13. Can't compare them to Diablo. HD usually runs BOGO deals this time of year and I pick up 4-6 12" & 10" for miter saw & table saw. Our local HD also takes Diablo blades in on warranty as their package states "lifetime warranty."
  14. I found three commercial grade air blowers for flood dryouts. All about 50 yards apart. I saw some pretty sweet plastic tubs the other day but was on the toll road and it would have taken me 25 minutes to make the loop and probably $10.00 in tolls.
  15. Eff that.... That thing costs about $75 to make. It's neat though. Just no where near $1600. $300 would be my threshold for something like that.
  16. I have the Dewalt rolling miter stand for smaller cuts but when doing criwn and long stock, 12' or more, I break out the folding stand as the rnd extend out further and have stops on them.
  17. I like Kobalt hand tools because of the "lifetime hassle free warranty." It's the best warranty to mimic Craftsman's original warranty. Take it in, swap it out. Done.
  18. I love Kreg. Lowes just started stocking the pocket hole machine. Might need to get it eventually.
  19. I love my DeWalt 204 piece set. Only issue I have is there are 2 sockets that will not lock in. When I close the case, they fall out. EVERYTIME.
  20. I love the levels. I have the 2,4 & 6'6" ones. Real high quality and built very well.
  21. Hard to imagine they're only rated at 1,000 lbs. the plastic saw horses are rated at 1,000 lbs.
