  1. These look really cool, though I admit I'd probably be too self-conscious to climb into one at the office to chill, especially as they're probably installed in full view of the entire room. Now if there were a bank of them off in a side hallway, I'd be all about some lounging pods.
  2. This is actually an amazing deal if you're in the market for a circular saw. The saw itself sells for almost that much and you get a 9.0 battery out of the mix. I've got the same saw and you can do an amazing amount of work with a 4.0 or 5.0 battery. I can only imagine what a 9.0 will do.
  3. Not to be picky, but what exactly is it that you're offering?
  4. Very cool, though I'm not sure how many drills will do 5000 rpm that they have to warn you about the top speed of the bit.
  5. I wonder if they can make an M12 version of the surge or if the 12v platform doesn't produce sufficient power to run the oil impeller.
  6. "That's why I'm going back to Milwaukee even though they have a little bit of a battery problem." Classic.
  7. That's really cool looking. The frame doesn't quite look inward sloping like the drawing though. Do you get "build exactly this" plans or do you get some latitude in the details?

Actually I have had Amazon ship things in the original boxes with just a shipping label slapped on the outside. When you check out with a large item, there's a checkbox that says something to the effect of "this item will be identifiable by the packaging. If you don't want this, check here for gift boxing". Then again, I've also gotten idiotically giant boxes from Amazon with one small thing in them, so perhaps it's up to the person on shipping duty.

A lot of bigger tools ship in their retail boxes, which is to say that the retail boxes are designed and built sturdy enough to be shipped by truck. So, if you order big, heavy tools like a miter saw, jobsite table saw, etc. it doesn't come packaged in a 2nd box because A. a bigger cardboard box would be really hard to find and would have to be custom built - i.e. expensive and time consuming. B. unless the custom box was a LOT larger, you wouldn't be able to add sufficient padding material to make a difference and then you're adding ~20" of extra shipping dimension - i.e. more expensive to ship C. The manufacturer's boxes are designed to ship bare because of A & B So, from how I see it, UPS trashed your compressor. I've had them mess up quite a few boxes and it's rarely the fault of the sender.

Bosch makes good quality tools, but the 1 year warranty really feels skimpy in today's market.

That's a heck of a deal on that saw, but since when is that saw $948?
  12. is it really cost effective to build an MDF door rather that buying a cheap builder grade door?
  13. It's back up to $249. Oh well. Thanks for the heads up.
  14. Bare tools from the 9.0 starter kit promo have really tanked the resale price on the Fuel sawzall and circular saw.
  15. It looks like the sander comes with an adapter for a round dust collection hose. No idea the diameter, but there are plenty of converters from rockler, etc. that can connect with just about everything.
  16. As far as I can tell, the auger is the same one that came out last year that I've got sitting in a bucket in my garage. The pump was always dual power. I think the marketing email was just that - marketing to say "hey, we're making cool stuff for plumbers"
  17. Something to consider when building things with plywood is that most plywood is made with a formaldehyde based glue. For a garage shelf, it doesn't matter. However for something that kids are going to be playing with / around, you'll probably want to avoid the stuff. I even asked at my local high end lumber yard and they couldn't guarantee that any of their plywood didn't have formaldehyde. The sanded oak and maple plywood at HD is specifically made without formaldehyde and is labeled as such. So, even though I can get nicer plywood (more layers) from my lumber yard, stuff I build for little people only uses the plywood from HD.

Toolbarn had the exact same deal running but it looks like they're out of stock. http://www.toolbarn.com/milwaukee-2763-21xc.html?utm_campaign=02+24+17+Milwaukee+276321XC+One+Day+Sale
  19. Each of the individual pieces that they've come out with are generally well made and functional, but none of them work or even really fit together. It boggles the mind that the toolboxes, rolling bags, parts organizers are all different sizes and shapes and aren't part of a RedBOXX (tm) system.
  20. I found a couple of new One+ tools from Ryobi that are mentioned on their site and on HD.com. I love that the sander has an included vacuum attachment, though without holes in the paper, I wonder how much dust it can really collect. ONE+ 18V Quarter Sheet Sander https://www.ryobitools.com/power-tools/products/details/one-18v-quarter-sheet-sander ONE+ 18V High Volume Power Inflator https://www.ryobitools.com/power-tools/products/details/one-18v-high-volume-power-inflator RYOBI ONE+ HYBRID LED CABLE LIGHTS https://www.ryobitools.com/power-tools/products/details/ryobi-one-hybrid-led-cable-lights There's also an entry for a new SDS-Plus rotary hammer that appears almost the same as the existing one in specs, but the new one has a side handle and looks just a bit more substantial. 18V ONE+™ SDS-plus® Rotary Hammer https://www.ryobitools.com/power-tools/products/details/18v-one-plus-sds-plus-rotary-hammer http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-ONE-18-Volt-1-2-in-SDS-Plus-Cordless-Rotary-Hammer-Drill-Tool-Only-P221/202347155
  21. I switched over to using a marking knife anywhere I need to be more precise than the width of a pencil point and had the same problem of "how do you keep it handy without stabbing yourself." I found that Blue Spruce Toolworks makes an excellent sheath for marking knives (and really nice knives too, if you're in the market. I bought one and can attest to the quality and usefulness in keeping the blade of my marking knife out of my leg http://www.bluesprucetools.com/cgi/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=SLSH

Actually the sale was in 2005, so split the difference at 12 years https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milwaukee_Electric_Tool_Corporation
  23. I like how you used the vertical space to store the clamps pointing up instead of the traditional, downward pointing clamp racks. However, I'm pretty sure that I couldn't do the same because A. I'm probably not tall enough to reach over the top of the shelf and around / behind the clamps to undo the screws and B. sooner rather than later, I'd bonk myself on the head with one of those clamps putting it away or taking it down.
  24. The M12 Fuel tools are quite nice. I suppose strong enough depends heavily on the question "strong enough for what?" The rotary tool is stronger than any cordless Dremel I've used and I've built decks and driven 5" lag screws with my M12, so there's plenty of power for that sort of task. What do you plan to use that tools for? Don't get me wrong, I love my M18s, but they're a lot larger and heavier than their M12 counterparts.
  25. So I apparently don't really understand the concept of a propane heater. The power comes from the propane tank. You might get a spark from the battery to light it, but why else would you need a battery? Perhaps there's a fan involved?
