That was the first one to sell out.
  2. ding ding ding! Now that I've got two accessories for a Festool track saw, I imagine I'll have to take the plunge (ha ha, I get it now). I just need to finish up my current shelving project (seen in the background of the pic) before I can buy any more tools.
  3. Newp - those don't come in systainers and each of the segments are 32" or so. These are much shorter.
  4. Another piece for the Woodpeckers collection. Bonus points if someone recognizes what it is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Police escort home! Awesome news.
  6. I see a 3 year battery warranty in the string trimmer but I can't find anything on the tool warranty. The blower and hedge trimmer both show a 3 year tool warranty. Odd.
  7. Ok so I know I'm going to be in the minority on this but this story is a prime example of what's wrong with our legal system. Going to prison for three YEARS for stealing $500 worth of anything is idiotic. By the time he gets out, he most certainly is going to be a hardened criminal and the person (actually the company) he stole from is no better off and no actual restitution has been made. Meanwhile, its cost the taxpayers almost $100,000 to keep this moron locked up. This is a lose / lose proposition all around. What we need is some sort of supervised work program. Make this SOB build houses for the needy for three years. His work and his wages go to help the community he harmed. He pays back his victims and the community. I obviously have no idea what drove this man to steal a couple of tools and pawn them, but I do know that there are very, very few people that can go straight again after a stint in prison.
  8. Nice. My water heater was installed with an overflow drain pipe stretched across the floor 4" up from the floor and the romex pulled TIGHT across the attic because they were too cheap to put in an extra 10' of wiring to staple it up properly.
  9. My worst FedEx delivery experience happened last year around this time of year when I ordered a wood kitchen and table for my kids. FedEx (ground) had hired morons to deliver to my town. They tried every single day for three weeks to deliver the boxes. Every day there was a new delivery exception and a new excuse. Here's a quick rundown: 1. Couldn't find address (I sent them a printout from google maps to the supervisor to print out) 2. Couldn't get into driveway - fence locked. (We have no fence) 3. Couldn't delver - dog in yard (no dogs live here) 4. Couldn't find subdivision (don't live in a subdivision) 5. Couldn't find street in subdivision (see #4) 6. No room on front porch (Deck is 9' x 35' - wtf?) 7. No secure location to leave package (we live in the woods down a 350' driveway - NO ONE is going to steal anything down here) 8. Address incorrect (this one was a classic as it was trotted out several times) Eventually, the FedEx supervisor put the boxes into the back of his pick up and drove them to my house on his way home. FedEx regular delivery guys are great. The seasonal contractors that they hire in December are idiots.
  10. So, because I'm a masochist, I put together a spreadsheet with systainer prices and dimensions to play with different configurations and to see how much it would cost to convert my wall o' red boxes to systainers. Well... lets just say that I've got better things to spend $3000 on right now. I think systainers might be one of those things that you buy one or two of a month and build up your collection. I do confess to wanting to buy some anthracite boxes and putting red latches and handles on them because if you're going to spend that kind of $$$ on storage, you might as well have it look bada$$.
  11. Wow. I know those things are built like tanks, but I have to believe that having this much sawdust inside can't be good for the motor.
  12. Newborns look for one and one thing only. Actually, come to think of it, that probably won't change as he gets older, though for different reasons...
  13. Oh, don't worry. It'll be back. It always comes back.
  14. That's awesome news. Here's hoping that the little bugger can be home for Christmas!
  15. My depot doesn't really take competitors coupons. I can sometimes get them to take a physical Lowes 10% off, but it's a real hassle and no way will they ever take a HF20.
  16. I've thought about cutting up the insides to reuse them, but the biggest problem I've got with them is that they're ALL different sizes. The chaos that is created when you try to stack them or even sit them on a shelf isn't worth the savings. I'm not quite to the point where I'm willing to shell out the $3,000 for a wall of systainers, but it's very appealing, I'm not going to lie. Anyway, right now, the boxes that hold rarely used tools hold the tools to protect them and keep them out of the way. The boxes for regularly used tools get stacked on a shelf. I should probably do something with them, but I can't quite get to the point where I'll throw the into recycling.
  17. Great purchase. I'd like to add that the M12 Fuel tools are a lot more powerful than you might think. I built an entire deck using my M12 impact driver and drill. I got out the M18 to sink the 6" lags, but for the endless screws attaching the decking, the M12 was a lot easier to pick up and use. I suspect that it could even have done the lags as well.
  18. Haha me too. I've been on a quest to backfill my catalog. So far, the only ones that I'm missing and that I really hope they relaunch are the MFT Square and maybe the DF 500 Offset system (though I don't have a DF500 yet).
  19. Bare tool with the 120v power adapter. I guess you could just use it as a replacement for the 780 and add batteries later if you wanted to go on the road.
  20. I'm a sucker for woodpeckers stuff. I'll have to line it all up one day to take a family portrait.
  21. No one other than my four year old and my two year old ever touches my tools, so I don't have to worry about them going home with someone els but I do occasionally have to worry about them going missing. I write the purchase date in black sharpie on the top of my batteries. That way, in can easily tell when they were bought for warranty purposes and it's covered by the tool when in use so I'm not having to stare at an ugly blotch of marker when I'm using them. Black sharpie on black plastic is pretty subtle.

  23. You are killing me ... must not buy ...
  24. I don't think factory location really has much to do with ownership. While a Chinese company may be pre-disposed to use Chinese factories, most international companies locate their production facilities in a country for other reasons - mainly cost but also availability of skilled workforce, marketing, tax advantages, etc. For example, SBD is an American company that only recently started moving some of their assembly back to the US, but still uses factories all over the world, including in China to build most of their products. Bosch builds in Europe and in China. Apple builds in China. It boils down to one thing - if a company can make money and employ local workers, then they might decide to, but making a profit is more important that just about all other factors.
  25. I personally wouldn't use pvc to hang a miter saw from the wall. It just doesn't seem like it would be strong enough and when plastic fails, I don't know how much advance notice you get. If you want to hang it on the wall with the stand brackets, hardwood closet rods would provide more strength. A webbed strap with a ratchet or a buckle will also keep it secure even in an earthquake.
