  1. Nothing at all I guess. It can take eight weeks to get free stuff from Milwaukee, so they may check returns with their authorized dealers (you have to submit a receipt). I'm guessing, but I have no idea.
  2. Probably, but like many specialty tools, if you work in a bucket all the time at night, a dedicated light that does exactly what you need it to do without having to jury rig something is probably worth the the $900.
  3. This. I'm pretty sure this post from Milwaukee is an official "Don't buy from unauthorized dealers or you won't have a warranty" statement and not a practical statement of how they operate. If they said anything else, they would undermine their authorized dealer program. That having been said, I can't imagine them voiding a tool under warranty for this reason unless you specifically go out of your way to tell them that you bought it from an unauthorized dealer / second hand.
  4. Something is definitely not balanced with that saw. It sounds almost like the blade is rubbing as it spins. I'd say bring it back and try a different brand - a Ridgid miter saw isn't in your future. On a positive note, the Ridgid MSU stand is a heck of a steal at $99 still, so you can always pick up one of those to go with whatever you settle on for a saw.
  5. There's one problem with the "it's staged" argument. These people are presumably trying to sell these sanding bands. If they can't even remotely do what they claim, they're not going to build much loyalty and will get outed pretty quickly on social media. I'm not saying that this was hardened steel plate, but I doubt that they went through the trouble to cast a partial piece of copper or aluminum into the piece just to fake a video. Some yahoo that built a custom rig would do that sort of nonsense, but probably not a company selling these.
  6. Need to add an award for most deafening.
  7. The string trimmer is really the only one that has my attention. I imagine I could get the blower for my deck, but the leaves and sticks in my yard proper would laugh at the CFMs and runtime that it pushes.
  8. Not sure if it's a pricing error, but the trimmer is $100 more for a 9.0 and a fast charger. That's a decent deal.
  9. Black is the high performance line. They're faster, run hotter and consume more power. Red is the NAS line that is slower but designed to run 24x7 in a NAS with lots of other drives. It has better error correction and runs cooler so that when you have 8 spinning next to each other, they don't cook themselves. By the way, say hello to 64TB of magnetic storage, never have to delete anything nirvana. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I think you'll have better luck breaking it up into individual pieces rather than looking for one person with $1500 to spend.

    Home Depot

Deal o the Day Just in case you have any money left over from the BF sales, a Dewalt 20v string trimmer with an extra 5.0 battery and the blower thrown in for good measure is a screaming deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I hear that the TIA swap meet board is chock full of buyers that don't give a rat's patootie about original boxes. Just sayin...
  13. The scam goes something like this. First you buy lots of some legitimately priced or high priced item. Then because Amazon let anybody list items for sale, you then have a friend list the same item for super cheap " fulfilled by Amazon". You then contact Amazon and get a price match for the difference between what you paid and what your friend is listed even though your friend didn't have 100 of them to sell. You then pocket the refund, the friend de-lists the other item and you resell the items on eBay for a slight discount so that they sell quickly.
  14. They do. It's "we don't do that and we don't offer price adjustments". They used to do both and I think people abused it so they got rid of it and went with the current policy.

    Tool awards.

They affect my purchasing decision insofar as blogs occasionally give out awards to tools that I've never heard of or have been unaware of. I then can go research all about these spiffy new toys and start coming up with justifications as to why I need to buy them.
  16. Preorder!!! Hahaha, now that's funny (because it's worked out so well for the Flexvolt crowd).
  17. I wanted to see him holding two sawzalls in one hand while taking a picture with the other. Spoilsport...
  18. So I'd like to acknowledge my ignorance up front in this before I start. There, done. Anyway, can you tell me why those power supplies are so expensive? I recently put in some led strips with a hard wired 60w power supply and that only set me back like $45. Now, mine couldn't handle 277v input, but I don't if you run commercial lighting off of 220/240 where that would be necessary. Is this a case of higher quality, commercial grade parts are just more expensive or is there more going on that these things do that my dinky, cheapie power supply can't?
  19. You know, I have no idea. The brick was used to build the central chimney column in my house and it has 3 flues in it for the wood stove and two fireplaces. I suppose it's entirely possible that it is fire retardant brick. How do you tell? Is it extra hard? I've drilled into it before without problem with a Tapcon branded bit.
  20. I am actually leaning towards the magnetic sticker idea. Sanding it down to remove the white, feathering the edge and then trying to get an exact color match sounds like it would be an awful lot of work that could go horribly wrong at any point. I'm also afraid that I'll get tired and it'll end up looking like total crap by the time I'm done doing 13 of them.
  21. I'm definitely in the "excited to get this" group on this one. I love how compact the M12 speaker is, but the sound could definitely be better.
  22. I was super lucky to work for a company that had a really good paternity leave. When my kids were born, I was able to take 16 weeks off with full pay. As much of a pain in the a$$ as it was to work in that soul crushing place, I am eternally grateful that I had the chance to do that. It must be really hard to go back to work right away and I salute your dedication and thank you for your service. Get ready for the sleepless nights (like I'm sure you're sleeping so much now )!
  23. I was taking a look at it while they were unpacking. It comes with the Bluetooth speaker and an organizer as well and is really very nice.
  24. It was a 3/16". I was contemplating using the 5/32, but I didn't have an sds bit that size and I didn't feel like a trip to the depot. From the discussion, it sounds like I should have kept the M12 sds for smaller tapcons. Oh well, back in the wish list it goes.
