  1. Thanks all. I do ok but don't compare to some of you pros. The bottom fit is a little loose intentionally by the corbels, I made it removeable with a few screws to be able to remove the wooden frame to service the oven if need be without destroying the whole thing.
  2. Thank you that's kind of you to say. BTW - that brick was a major PITA to strip. There were like 15 coats of paint, my favorite being SILVER METALLIC SPRAY PAINT!?! I got a Milwaukee diamond grout blade for my sawzall that worked great on the mortar and put a rough skim coat of mortar on the concrete lintel across the top to make it more rustic looking.
  3. Yeah prob should work as long as your A6 has fold down rear seat, standard I think, and space above the armrest to let the box sit on between the front seats. The 6 is obviously significantly bigger so I don't see a problem. They are just four 8 foot boxes, a couple inches longer actually, tapped together to make it easy to slide the lumber in and out and not have to fiddle with blankets that might shift or fall off causing things to get scratched... That being said I bet I can still beat you home. 3.6 0-60 with updated ecu

Hd has a two for one deal on the new Diablo 24 tooth 7-1/4 framing blades with the new tracking point teeth. I saw a brochure by the pro desk, might need a pro account, and was looking for for a two pack and couldn't find one but the cashier just rang them up solo and it worked fine. $10 for two great blades and you can even get them in your favorite color... As long as it's red!
  5. Lol, yeah it's a Milwaukee box. I LOVE this oven. It's microwave/convection top and convection on the bottom too so you get the best of both worlds and lots of versatility. The microwave is stainless inside too it looks as quality as the outside and it's pretty big too. Also the huge advantage of having an oven wall mounted away from the main work area and cooktop is twofold. 1) you can be baking something and have the heat away from your range top so you aren't getting double blasted with heat and 2) you can get a range base cabinet with two massive drawers for all your pots that you actually use on the cooktop. It's a win win - also no microwave wasting cabinet space or counter space and you can go with a more decorative and powerful hood hat actually works instead of the microwave/exhaust fan combos which don't work as well.
  6. My S3 wasn't made for HD runs so I decided to help it out a little I made a 2x4 carrier out of four boxes my kitchen crown boards came in and taped them all together and put foam padding to protect the dash. I can get about eight 2x4x8's in there and no worries about scuffing the interior and with the four compartments they slide right in and out. I had twelve boxes of 12x24 wall tile in there as you can see its riding a it low too lol...
  7. Thanks for all the input. I decided to avoid mdf and go with poplar but it got warped a bit sitting in my garage for a few weeks and decided to just go with maple like the cabs. I got nearly a perfect match to the cabinet color and sheen. I'm pretty happy with the outcome, I'm just a DIY hack, and it cleans up the oven surround greatly:
  8. Well until the 3.0 slim is out the 2.0 is still the biggest slim pack you can get. The old 3.0 and 4.0 are the larger variety. 1.5's for some devices is still workable but yeah Milwaukee's a little odd with their battery tiers; they still have m18 3.0 and 4.0 packs at original pricing which doesn't make sense to a consumer when the 5.0's are basically the same price too. I suspect the 6.0's will continue the tradition...
  9. Also the 3.0 is now the top dog slim pack, they probably want to cash in on its newness and sell them a la carte. When they introduce new batteries it seems to take some time for them to show up in kits. It hasn't been too long since they even started adding 5.0's to the M18 kits. Also the 3.0's might not even be ready to roll yet...
  10. Yeah the new slim 3.0's are prob great on that flashlight but I already have a bunch of 2.0's and it should work well, if not look a little funky, with the pair of big 3.0's i have so I wouldn't be buying a kit anyway.
  11. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M12-12-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-LED-High-Performance-Flashlight-Tool-Only-2355-20/207021879 $99 for tool only. They have a kit too with a 1.5 battery too and decent photos to get a better idea of it. Looks nice but not in stock yet. update: Here is the retail packaging and what one looks like with big battery on it. It actually looks better than I thought with the bigger pack and it stands up more stably and lights up the room like a lantern shooting off the ceiling. The sliding mechanism for the beam is super slick and it does have a nice quality feel overall.
  12. What about a wired adapter to keep the the battery on a belt clip or something. You could make handheld power tools powered by big packs, like 40+v outdoor lawn equipment packs, and not have the resultant imbalance and fatigue associated with adding all that weight to the tool itself...
  13. Nah I have NYC water where I am and it's some of the best in the country so I'm not that worried about build up to be honest but hopefully it will be fine the next few decades before the next major Reno
  14. Sorry for the late reply but was away for the weekend down in MD. Thanks for the kind words and I agree the stone backsplash has no grout lines to get crud in them and a nice clean look. The only real downside is the loss of an inch of counter depth but I have a decent amount to begin with.
  15. Also with plastic is helps to have a blade with lots of teeth. You can get away with a nice finish blade but def don't use a framing saw etc.
  16. Those rubber bumpers on the side are as much to protect your work pieces as the tool. They bump against everything and even take some abrasions from getting put in and out of your tool bag. They are soft for this purpose and are going to wear out. You should see the rubber overmould on my hackzall after some heavy abuse ?
  17. I was wondering why the battery compartment for the Garage Door opener looks way bigger than the 4.0 battery. It makes a great trickle charger to keep your batteries topped off and useful in a power outage as well.
  18. Yeah halogens have a big downside wrt heat and electrical use. Maybe even a nice floor lamp somewhere in the kitchen with a high lumenLED bulb might do you a lot of good if doing something permanent is a ways off...
  19. Just FYI if you have an M18 battery and want to know if it takes full advantage of the rapid charger look on the top for a lighting bolt near the connector. If it has one it will charge at a faster pace than if not:
  20. I really like those step bits. They drill a fast clean hole in wood, metal or plastic. They seem to stay sharp pretty well too so while not cheap they do seem quality. I used them to drill dozens of holes in my kitchen base cab toe kicks for levelers and a few holes in some self made metal brackets to secure a range top and every hole was clean and easy...
  21. How big a lawn we talking? If you have a small area like I do I highly recommend the Ryobi 40v - you can get a weed wacker and mower that uses the same 40v platform. I love being able to pop a battery in and no starting issues just turn it on and go. I have the 40v blower, weed wacker, mower and hedge trimmer and have a total of 3 batteries and two chargers. I got the wacker for like $100 with a charger and battery and the mower came with two so I have plenty of runtime and ability to swap around batteries and never run out.
  22. Lol, yeah the light prob isn't as bright but it's nice having the motion sensor so I don't have to walk over to the switch if I'm going to be in and out of the garage. Overall it's a nice unit, it's heavy and everything you see that's green on the main unit is heavy gauge metal. The track seem quality and heavy too. It weighs like 60 lbs in the box. They didn't skimp on the build quality at all which I was concerned about at this price point with wifi, LED lights, a 2 HP motor, battery backup capability and the whole accessory add-on system and wifi app/control. I also love being able to keep an old Ryobi 5 3/8" saw in the garage for a quick cut and use the gdo as a charger and swap the battery when needed. Maybe they figure they can sell the main unit cheaper and make it back on the accessories. Either way it's a good deal in my book and for a first foray into a new market they did a great job. Props to Ryobi.
  23. I have zero use for something like that but for some strange reason I kinda still want one ?
  24. I removed the loud clackety old craftsman opener and put in the Ryobi. The asshats who installed the old opener put it about 2 feet off center, I think you can actually install them a foot or so off center but it's not ideal and the door never closed evenly so I moved the old ceiling bracket over a few feet to center it. It looks way more robust than the old craftsman and is way heavier: The cord reell snaps right on the side, only trouble was my old style angle iron bracket protruded and didn't allow me to slap the reel on without unbolting the opener on that side because it needs to be tilted inward to get it on the unit. One thing I haven't seen mentioned is it has an integral GFCI that you can see in the control panel on the left with the red led and a reset and test button. Nice touch. Overall installation was pretty straight forward and setup not bad at all. It's cool having wifi access and a nice led down light with a built in motion sensor to turn the light on without having to hit the button is cool. It is super quiet and very smooth, not to mention nearly twice as fast as the old 1/2 hp craftsman, but it does have a warning beep when closing due to the liabliy of remote wifi access to warn people in the vicinity. Also the battery backup is super nice to have an it'll charge your battery and display status on the app: It's a great deal and feature packed for the price. I like it quite a bit more than I even thought I would. It'll be cool to see what other add-ons they think of for the future.
