  1. The root issue on the sled was a hanging choke plunger on the magneto side carb. It was pulling excess gas into the mix and causing it to choke itself off. Fixed that and slapped everything back together and it's running like a champ again. Now all we need now is some snow! Check engine light went off on the car today too. Well what a difference 24 hours make.
  2. Welcome to the forum. You're in good hands.
  3. I believe that either the choke plunger or the needle and seat is hanging up. All signs point to that the cylinder was suffering from flooding. I just removed the magneto side drain plug from the case and a bunch of fuel came out. I pulled the pipe and plugs and I'm going to let it dry out and then try it again with the fuel shut off and see if it clears up.
  4. After thinking about it. I have a theory on what may be causing the dropped cylinder on the sled. Going out to the garage to check it out.
  5. Typically if you see a product at 2:00 AM on a infomercial and you can't find it in a store to purchase anywhere. There's a very good reason for it.
  6. Me too. Love the show, hate the channel. They play the same 4 commercials that promote upcoming new segments. It's very maddening
  7. Looks great. My father has a big "Z" door on his barn. I think it's about 14' across.
  8. I just walked away from it and crashed on the couch and fell asleep to the ongoing Mythbusters marathon. lol
  9. Good to know, Mine definitely fall into this scenario.
  10. It's been bad for me in the world of mechanics over the past 24 hours. Some of it self inflicted with the remaining just bad luck I guess. Actually it started on Thursday but continuing into the New Year. Started the day yesterday with needing to change the oil in my car. Had everything ready to go and I've changed the oil on this car since I've bought it. Crawl underneath the car and the drain plug strips the head off. This is a known issue with the Chevy Cruze. GM uses a 10MM drain plug on the pan and is known for stripping. So I had to use vice grips to get it off. I'm home by myself with my daughter with no means of getting a new plug so I had to reinstall the stripped bolt. I fill it and put the fill cap back on the valve cover. My daughter and I go down to the Polaris dealer to grab some parts for her sled. As I'm on the highway, I can smell burning oil and then the check engine light comes on. I pull over and open the hood to find the majority of the engine compartment covered in oil. The fill cap didn't seal correctly and oil spewed everywhere. So we had to find a self serve car wash bay to clean it up before we both choked to death on fumes. Check engine light is still on from it registering a massive vacuum leak. I get the parts for her sled and we then head home. Spend the rest of the day installing the parts. Once done, I go and start her sled only to find out that it's low on compression on the magneto side and running on one cylinder. Somehow the sled went from running absolutely great in August when I moved it around in the garage to being on life support in 4 months. I need a beer.
  11. Little late in posting. It was a busy week and lot of things going on. So much that I haven't had a chance to open and play around with them. At this point, I'm just about complete on the whole Porter and Cable series. Still deciding on whether I'm going to pull the trigger on the nailers. I already have the Bostich Framing and Finishing nailer.
  12. Here you go. Shop stuff by humeb, on Flickr
  13. Spent Sunday and Monday night finishing the painting on all of the trim. Just have some minor touch up work on the ceiling too do. I also need to pull the bathroom door off and paint that white. Once that's done, I'll start devoting time on the floor and installing the light fixture. We even started to decorate a little bit
  14. Back in my late 20's, I was very irresponsible with using my credit cards. They were all maxed out and I was making the minimum payments. After about 4 years, I just cut them up and worked my butt of to pay them off and get out of debt. It was a tough road, essentially not really doing anything for a long time. In the end, it was well worth it. Now if we see something we want we just save up for it and buy it when the funds are available.
  15. Thanks Mike. With the oddballs in the middle on the socket rails. It helps to create separate spaces for metric and SAE. You'll like the Hansens. They're pretty slick
  16. It's been in the 50's up here for the past for 4 weeks. Some people have had dandelions pop up. Lol
  17. I'm going to do it either Thursday or Friday of this week. I've been lucky enough that the ground is still soft, but I know my time is limited and if I don't do it now the ground is going to freeze and then more than likely the house will be listed before the springtime. Either way I'm texting the owner this week to let him know and if he has any objections to come over,
  18. Figure I would post some pics of the fence. Just so everyone can see what I'm dealing with. I'm all for taking the section that is on my side of property line down however that would leave the ends of the fence still up since they are not the issue at hand. At this point, I think I'm just going to move the long section back the 20" onto the property line and just be done with it. It's going to cost me about $100 in line and terminal posts and a day of my time.
  19. Figure I would pose this question out to the crew and see what their take is on it. On the left hand side of my lot, there is a chain link fence that runs parallel to my drive way and they makes a 90* turn and runs back to the neighbors garage, The problem is that when the neighbor put the fence up it was discovered that it was installed over the property line by about 20" about a year after. After we found the issue, The neighbor and I talked about it and we both looked at the lot survey and agreed that it was over and if it ever became as issue that he would move the fence. At the time it wasn't a big deal because we got along pretty well and I didn't feel like making it an issue since essentially the section of land borders the driveway and is just a grass strip. As you know, one of the projects I worked on over the summer was filling in my backyard. (The Big Fill). Since I've built the retaining wall and leveled everything out, I no longer have access to the back of the garage from the right hand side. I have to access it from the left hand side. With the fence being over the property line, I essentially have about 36" from the corner of my garage to the fence. As I was working on the project, I talked to the owner and mentioned that I now needed the fence moved because of access issues. He said that he would move it. Here is were it get's interesting, in the past 7 years he had divorced and moved out.The property became a rental and he had various tenants living there. In the last 6 months, he became divorced again and the tenant who was there was not paying and essentially left in the middle of the night. The house has been abandoned for the last 4 months and last week the owner sent me a text message saying to do what ever I wanted to do with the fence and that the house was going into foreclosure. So essentially, I'm being left holding the bag on this stupid fence. Knowing the owner has no intentions of moving it on his own, It's now up to me to deal with it. So what are my options? 1.Cut it down. 2.Move the fence myself. 3.Talk to the town and have them pursue it? 4. Contact the bank that owns the property and file a "lean" or some other type of complaint. The section is about 60' long and if I had to buy some new line and terminal posts it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but I have enough stuff to do than have to worry about moving someone else's fence..
  20. WTF. I guess the guy never saw a 90 elbow before or a tape measure. The stud on the left is about 6" too short as well.
  21. I have the Harbor Freight knock off's of the Hansen's. They work pretty well, however you always have sockets and adapters (Hex, Torx, E-Socket) that don't necessarily fall into the the same organizational grouping of everything else. To get around it, I've purchased some of the cheap socket rails and I then fastened the rails to a strip of wood. Doing this I can then organize the oddballs pretty well. I'll take some pictures on Sunday morning on how I have my socket drawer organized,
  22. You're going to love it. I have the Keter version and as this point it's my favorite tool in the garage.
