  1. Proto 1-1/4" 500 series combo? Used once or twice. I ordered satin but was sent a full polish by mistake. $50 new.
  2. Just skin. Not wide, but pretty deep. Thought it might need a stitch, but the liquid bandage seems to be working.
  3. I watched part of a hold'em tournament in Vegas. I watched long enough to realize most of those people were far more skilled and dedicated far more time to it than I. Ill stick to video poker and blackjack
  4. The Dewalt mechanics tools are good quality and share a lot of DNA with the Expert and Blackhawk brands also sold by SBD, but those ratchets! Smooth, good feel, but man you could anchor a jon boat with them.
  5. I don't have any trouble remembering where I put shit, but I still like my labels. I have every drawer and bin labeled with the exception of my roll cab. A label maker is an essential tool IMO. Here's what I was doing last week
  6. Hold the accolades until he moves it up a flight of stairs ? Are those 2x6 cross beams? As for me, with the forecast calling for rain and snow, I went ahead and mowed for the first time this year. If I'd waited until next week I'd have had to borrow my neighbor's bailer. I waited too long really. Most people have already mowed twice ?. I was using a 3 cylinder diesel Tractor, but it might have been a struggle for a mere mortal mowing apparatus. Odd too because I'm typically the first one to mow and firmly believe the two most important days of the year are the first time you mow and the last time you mow.
  7. If your brother is well enough off and wants to do something nice for you, let him. Make it clear he doesn't have to, but let him be a brother. I'm more excited about the tool of choice. Jesus, I get excited when other people get tools. What went wrong with my life? Hi, my name is Conductor and I have a problem ☹️
  8. I took a chunk out of the knuckle on my index finger today with a pair of side cutters. What kind of dumbass does that? ? First side cutter related injury I've ever had.
  9. It means buy all the tools you can immediately! Your budget is getting ready to dry up ? But seriously, congratulations! Your first?
  10. FYI: With Grizzly, the purple bits are the higher end while the ugly green are the lower end.
  11. When I got into routing a few years ago before my forum days, I had no idea what I needed to start out. I wanted to cover all bases, but I didn't want shitty bits either. I ended up buying this 36 piece carbide set from Grizzly: http://www.grizzly.com/products/Router-Bit-36-pc-Set-1-4-Shank/H3426?utm_campaign=zPage&utm_source=grizzly.com IIRC I gave $99 for it, but keep in mind this has been 8-10 years ago. I figured this set would get me started, then I could replace them as needed with higher end stuff. I've yet to replace one and if I did, I'd probably buy theses again. They've been great bits for the price I paid. They aren't the quality of Freud bits, but I'll say I've probably used them at least once a month. I keep them clean and keep check on the bearings, but they've honestly been great.
  12. I messaged the seller. We'll see what happens
  13. Damn this place! This thread peaked my interest in a new router again and I went and ordered the 2-1/4 HP DW618PK: http://www.cpopowertools.com/dewalt-dw618pk-2-1-4-hp-evs-fixed-base-and-plunge-router-combo-kit-with-hard-case/dewndw618pk,default,pd.html 2-1/4 is a nice size. It's got the power to do anything I need it to do, without the bulk of a 3+ beast.
  14. I've always said Knip-ex. I always knew that probably wasn't "up to snuff" kraut speak, but I went with it. I'm from West "By God", so I usually get a pass on mis-speaking complex and foreign words.
  15. +1 I have the Makita compact router and I use my full size router ONLY when the compact won't work. I do wish I'd have bought the kit with the plunge base though. The plunge base by itself is almost as much as the router, so I just never pulled the trigger.
  16. My next router will be the Dewalt DW618PK. 2-1/4 HP, ccepts 1/2" collet, soft start, fixed and plunge base, and I like the adjustment on it. Can be had for ~$150 The only way I'd want a 3+ HP monster is if I were dedicating it to a table. They are a bitch to freehand with. If I needed that kind of capacity on a regular basis I'd bite the bullet and get a shaper.
  17. Today I rolled the dice a little. Last tile project I did (6-8 months ago) I burnt up the older 1/2" B&D drill I used as a mixer. It was a plain 11 amp hammer drill, beat to shit, and not worth saving. I chucked it and decided to replace it when needed. Mom has been wanting her bathroom redone, so I figured I'd go ahead and get one. Laying tile 3-4 times a year, I really don't need a good mixing drill, which probably explains why the old one lasted as long as it did, but at the same time, I hate cheap tools. I thought about a used one, but most that I found were WELL used and had enough thin set on them to tile a closet, so I decided against that. While looking on eBay I found a Dewalt DW130V for $99. Seeing how this is a $180 drill, I was a little suspicious. The listing stated it was New and not a recon'd tool, and showed more than 10 available. US Seller (California), but also mentioned something about a stapler. All other details were correct. https://www.ebay.com/itm/122426463883 My biggest concern is that the seller has a zero feedback score. Ultimately I decided to give it a shot. I have enough faith in PayPal to take a $99 gamble. I'll give it a good look see when it arrives and let you know. Well, if it arrives ?
  18. Probably not, but I would like to devise some sort of drawer based organization
  19. I have the same gun. It's the previous rendition without the rafter hook though. 2 drops of oil for each use and it's shot thousands of brads over 10 years or so. I had to order a replacement rubber tips and wrap the handle in duct tapes because the old ones deteriorated, but can't complain about that. I would like something with a more precision tip, but as long as this one is still doing the job, I'll stick with it I suppose.
  20. Not much excitement today. Went to HD to pick up a 12'x24' roll of lenolium for Mrs. Conductor's grandpa's house and grabbed a Dewalt chalk line and some red chalk. My other one is one of the very few tools I have that belonged to my grandfather, so I never take it anywhere on a project for fear of losing it. There were some fancier options, but I liked this one for it's classic look, all metal construction, and thin profile.
  21. Exciting times for sure. Good luck Jimbo!
  22. This is about as organized as I'm going to get until I redo my shop. Believe it or not, this is a drastic improvement over what it used to be. There's a lot more in there than you can see.
  23. Ka-Knee-pex ? I've been saying it wrong my whole life.
  24. I haven't seen a hard case for the Hawg, but I have seen them for the bandsaw. If ebay doesn't yield anything, you might order one through Milwaukee
