  1. I try to clean as I go. Saves time in the long run in my opinion because you don't track dust around.

    Tool Wax

What kind of wax do you guys use to protect your tools and/or reduce friction? I seen this add on Amazon. Anyone ever used it? https://www.amazon.com/Renaissance-Wax-PCRW2-200ml/dp/B0012S1XBO/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_469_bs_tr_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=M9QR4V37E099K3QJ5FEM&dpID=51zBOI5223L&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=detail
  3. Had to sand some floors in a large house. 3 floors plus a basement and walk in attic. Only downside was one of the owners smokes inside and the other guy working with me decides to not use a vac with the sander. Was only one day or so he didn't use the vac but still. Main floor is almost finished. Might have been pre 1900's when it was built.
  4. At GIE+ Expo I seen Ego has a new pole hedge trimmer attachment for the power plus system and a new mower. Makita had the new cart for guys to demo but this time it was the wheelbarrow version and not the flatbed version. They also had various saws and OPE too. STAFDA seems to have a good turnout for exhibitors. Bosch is going, Chervon (owners of Ego, Skil, Skilsaw), DeWALT, Diablo, and many more big brands plus quite a few brands we maybe haven't heard of before. Id expect at least one new Flexvolt item and maybe Makita's battery with 21700 cells to be shown off. Maybe a couple new options in the packout line. Bosch will probably show off some appliances maybe have some connected tools.
  5. Thought we could use one of these. A place to post about currents and upcoming tool events. Your one stop shop about the most current and up to date tool event information. If there is an event you want to talk about just post about it here. I will start. There is 2 worth mentioning. GIE+ Expo 2017 is currently going on. It is heavy on the landscaping trades but there can be a other tools as well. STAFDA 2017 will be coming up in around 20 days. Will be held in Austin Texas this year. I would expect to see quite a few new tools here.
  6. You gonna review your new flex stuff?
  7. @ufvj217 this is maybe more something to compete with other mid torque impact wrenches? I would guess a high torque is in the works?
  8. I have tested a Kreg k5 in a tough system ds130 and it will not fit the main unit on the sides. you would have to remove on the the lid storage deals to have a chance. You can fit the main unit in the middle of the box without box modification but the 2 support wings will not fit.
  9. Maybe this saw has a slightly better take on the "glide" style mechanism? From comparing the 2 saws the Delta has a symmetrical mechanism. Neither look to be direct drive. They seem very similar in many ways. Dust catch seems very similar to the Bosch.
  10. the Mothers kit helped some. Its still a bit noticeable but better than it was.
  11. we are getting better. One of my coworkers ALMOST used a vac on a sander and used a dust mask a few times. I feel the boss and I are making some progress on getting them to use masks and vacs and stuff. We also put up plastic to keep dust in the work area.
  12. far as I know I have never used a barrel jigsaw. @justinkendall could try the corded Festool?
  13. my 887 takes offense to this. It drilled lots of holes.
  14. Both are good units. I like the triple led on the ridgid but I would probably still go with the Milwaukee. Not sure if you have looked into Makita but you can find a similar hydraulic impact driver. Not sure how it compares just thought I'd let you know. LSA is nice but one thing to note is it is a limited warranty.
  15. Another feature is certain models work with beards if you have one.
  16. I have seen some in the $200-$300 range. Still alot vs disposable and non powered but I would think the better seal and more comfort would make it worth the price.
  17. I'd buy 20v respirator. Something like this. Looks more comfortable than a disposable mask or cheap non disposable. No nose soreness and the powered function would seem like it would make breathing easier since air would be flowing in. Also has another benefit that it acts as eye protection too.
  18. Squaring has always been hard for me. Do you guys got any more tips for squaring up a piece of ply? I still can't get this piece to square. I don't understand why. I calibrate my square to ensure it is square. Then I make a cut on a long edge with the 8' rail then I use the 4' guide rail and the square to make a cut like this. I always use clamps to ensure the rail doesn't move. My long rail is a DeWALT and the short is a Festool. After the cut is made I check the corner for square both ways It should be square right? I try to go off the previous cut edge. I have gotten the diagonals to equal but when I check the corners for square not all of them are square. Sometimes when I square the guide rail then make a cut, the cut isn't square to the edge I squared off of but sometimes it is.
  19. Thanks for the help. I take it the 2x option is the best option.
  20. I like the look of packout and the strength is inpressive but not worth switching from what I already have.
  21. I don't mind as much because it isn't being stressed as much as if it was more mobile like the tough cart.
  22. So I got out the user manual for the wall rack and was looking through it so I would kinda get an idea of how to instal it into my garage. Seemed fairly straight forward. Assemble the rack then screw to studs then screw to floor. I checked for installation videos and could not find any but I always looked at how the bottom was tied to the floor. The rack was tied to a 2x then the 2x to the concrete floor. It mentions nothing about how to instal on a concrete floor in the directions. I would think that concrete would be the most common material to fasten the bottom to. So now to my question. Can I skip the 2x method and tie the wall rack directly to the concrete? I haven't even looked at what screws are provided. They might just be wood screws. If I have to do the 2x method what screws would you guys recommend to tie the 2x to the concrete? Would I need to use treated 2x for a garage floor? Do you guys got any other suggestions for rack instal?
  23. @aessu we are supposed to get paid by the 1/4 hour but it tends to be paid by the 1/2 hour.
  24. My closest HD is a hit or miss. Sometimes tough system is on the shelves sometimes it is not. Another store I go to has both tough system and tstak in stock and mostly stock them over other boxes but thats uncommon from what I have seen. I'm not sure modular systems are as popular as one would hope. I feel like the boxes that are not associated with a modular system sell better at least to the average guy. All us tool enthusiasts want toughsystem, packout, etc. provided with our tools instead of bags or blow mold cases but I don't know if the tools would sell as well in the US. It would have to be included without compromises or higher costs for it to work.
