    Tire Ramps

I spent about 10 years in the automotive service equipment business installing lifts. You never see pits being installed anymore around here unless its a quick lube. It takes as long to load a car on a lift as it does to change the oil. That and there is there is less chance of damage although I have seen people drive cars in the pit.
  2. Great info. I have the Milwaukee currently and although its a nicely built unit I agree with your comments. The layout is awful and I end up digging tools out of the bottom. Poor pocket layout for sure. I never use it as an actual backpack except for one strapping it over a shoulder to carry it inside when my hands are full.
  3. I have tossed two of them that failed. One was bad out of box. The 12v side always worked but the 18 volt side did not.
  4. So are you going to have a secondary adjustment to zero the 1/4" to 3/4" cam? I would think it might be hard to tighten the bit into the router at the exact height.
  5. Over the years I have bought a 6" combination square and a 12" combination. I have the 45 and protractor head for the 12" but that is all I own. Oh, I did buy a pair of dial vernier calipers with fractions that were oddly cheap for Starrett. I have had a pair of mitutoyo digitals for years but for woodworking I prefer dial. I did not even know Grizzly had calipers. Is it Grizzly brand?
  6. You guys must do more than I thought. Keeping 7 table saws busy is a lot of cutting.
  7. I bet that works well. What kind of chop saw to make the second cut? Must be some kind of sliding miter saw? Seems that just doing a crosscut on table saw would be simple? Always amazed that the stuff you guys build.
  8. Without a doubt the best tool I have ever bought. Never missed a beat and it gets used a lot. I love all Festool products but this really is their crown jewel of tools.
  9. Yea I do, but cant afford much ! New video out. You need a cold one to watch this as its an hour long but very cool video. Love the old plant and patina that goes along with it.
  10. That is becoming less of an issue for me. As I build tool storage that fits only a specific tool I find it easy to put it back. All my struggles over the years of putting stuff back is because I am wandering around trying to figure out where to put it.
  11. I will say I almost bought a table saw with granite top to stop rust but could not give up using magswitch stuff.
  12. But with Chris it might be Pizza Toppings.
  13. Probably pressure treated. I had to think about it too.
  14. I recently put this together. After my Dad passed away I was selling off a bunch of his tools for my Mom. He wanted me to have his stuff but I had everything he has and more. Some of the old tools really had no value so I made garage art out of it. All this was tools that was around from my youth.
  15. That might be a little work The bad part is that I have 1100 SF of tall attic above my garage and if I had half a brain when I designed the house I would have used attic trusses. Currently I have nothing but unusable space up there.
  16. I had a super nice charger for over 20 years and it worked great but it got some corrosion in the diode assembly and burned out. I should have fixed it but tossed it. I bought a nice Schumacher for about $225 that has plenty of amps and timer to replace it. What it does not have is microprocessor automatic controller. I miss that enough I will probably replace it with a more expensive Schumacher this summer. Without the automatic control you are somewhat guessing at your charge with the timer.
  17. Very nice Tony. That will be hard not to pile stuff on
  18. I try to keep tractor in the shop side of garage for snow duty, but the last few years we have not had that much snow. So I kept it my 15x24' shed where it stays the rest of the year and just bring it around when snow is in the forecast. I doubt it has spent a total of two weeks in the garage over the last two years. Snow in the forecast but should not be over 4". If I had it to do over again I think I would have built the shed closer to the driveway so its never in my shop ! Course if I had it to do over again and had more of that thing they call money I would have built a bigger garage
  19. Yes, I guess when I said the only advantage, I was talking about how it clamps for angle cuts. Most track saws require you to manually set your angle. The Festool cuts right up to a rubber strip under the track even if you are cutting at an angle so there is no tear-out on the top towards the saw and minimal on the outside if I am running the outer splinter guard. Of course its also locked to the track so you cant mess up and drift away from the track. I am sure what you have will work great. You can always build a sled for your saw and have zero clearance with the base of the actual sled.
  20. Two C clamps and it cuts any angle and is as accurate as the two marks you put on the wood Same method as even the most expensive tracksaw. Even my Festool works with way. The only advantage to the Festool is you have extrusion slots under the track to us with proper clamps.
  21. Looks great. Once you get used it having it you will wonder how you got by without it. I use mine more and more every day.
  22. Its good you get to build some stuff that is a keeper. I would think it would be frustrating to know things get used for a quick shoot and then end up in the Hollywood boneyard or dumpster! Looks fantastic. As all your stuff does.
  23. I started with something similar before buying the Festool many years ago. I ended up buying some phenolic plate and made a guide for router and skilsaw and attached them to base of each tool. Worked great. I tried 1/2" thick UHMW but found for the router it would not work because even 1/2 thick pulls. Was fine for the saw. I need to get busy as I have plans to build a track for my Fein metal cutting saw. Thanks for reminder !
  24. Models change rapidly. They might just be deleting stock to make what for the newer version which may be better or worse. You rarely see a model without changes last very long.
