khariV Posted December 9, 2016 Report Posted December 9, 2016 Wow. I know those things are built like tanks, but I have to believe that having this much sawdust inside can't be good for the motor. 1 Quote

comp56 Posted December 9, 2016 Report Posted December 9, 2016 ya there is always going to be some debris left in the bottom of a table saw regardless of how good your dust collection is but that looks as if something stopped prior to cleaning it. My saw has cut many things now and after a few weeks I checked to see how well the dust control was working 6.5HP shop vac direct to dust deputy and all is fine .....very little on the very bottom of chute 1 Quote
Conductor562 Posted December 9, 2016 Report Posted December 9, 2016 Good lord that's a lot of dust in the bottom! 1 Quote

pancing Posted December 16, 2016 Report Posted December 16, 2016 Holy shit is that your schools Shop? My highschool was lucky enough to have a goddamn cordless drill when I was in school, let alone a saw-stop, dust collection and anything powermatic. 1 Quote

Jronman Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 We didn't have top of the line anything in my high school shop but we were blessed to have a Timesaver wide belt sander. Was an old enough model to where it had no depth guide but it still worked great. Back when Timesavers were green. When I was in high school we had problems with tools going missing. Particularly drills. The new Timesaver wide belts are a dream to use. Computerized depth adjustment and can automatically determine material thickness 1 Quote

I got no idea where they ended up. I don't even know if they were ever recovered. I have used a new Timesaver in college. They got it the year before I arrived and as I stated in the message above its great. One of the computerized models. Probably something I would want in my dream shop. 1 Quote
Jronman Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 a 2300 would be nice. Use one belt for a high grit sanding pad the second for a low grit sanding pad and the third for planer blades. 1 Quote

Maybe a wide belt orbital would be better than a wide belt planer. Wouldn't want to see the price on it though. The one college got was $20k and I think it was a 1300 model and not a 2300. the 2300 is probably $30k or more haha. 1 Quote
CATERPILLAR Posted February 1, 2017 Author Report Posted February 1, 2017 Damn think of all the cordless tools u could get for $30k or tools in that matter Quote
Jronman Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 @CATERPILLAR You could buy a lot of tools with it but would they be as good as a wide belt? Could replace or partially replace a few tools with it haha. 1 Quote
