firefighter4187
I was at Home Depot this morning and it seems like things have gone down hill, especially the tool selection. Has anyone else noticed this?
Conductor562
My HD actually expanded their tool section over the last couple months.
firefighter4187
Haha Here it is down to an aisle and a half.
Conductor562
They can remove all Husky items from the shelf and it won't hurt my feelings.
firefighter4187
Same here, Husky takes up half an aisle and every piece of it looks like junk!
FerTheHandyman
The one by my house has about three aisles and it seems like their tool selection is pretty up to date.
firefighter4187
It seemed like a lot of things were missing, for example i was looking at the Dewalt hand tools and all they had were a 25Ft tape, framing hammer, fence/end cutters and box cutters. The funniest part is when the power tool counter employee told me that hammers on a hammer drill and impacts on an impact gun meant the same thing...Haha
Conductor562
Husky is shitty. It's sad too, Husky is an old name and used to make good stuff. It was passed around a few times over the 80 years or so it was around before HD ended up with it in the early 90's.
Eric - TIA
The service and wood selection at my home depot suck. Wont even go to home depot for wood. Cant even find a straight 2x4. Now I go to Menards
firefighter4187
In florida we don't have any menards, just lowes and home depot.
wayneburgess
Is Home Depot a bit like our B&Q stores?
Conductor562
Don't know what B&Q is. HD is a giant lumber/hardware/home improvement store. The stores are very large and I'm guessing they employ close to 100 people each.
Joe M
B&Q is an example of a European Home Depot/Lowes/Menards.
DR99
There is a difference in the quality between different Home Depot stores and what they stock. It seems to mostly deal with the age of the store with newer stores having a larger selection of tools. One HD by me carries a full line of Bosch tools the other 2 might just have a few random bosch tools like the rotohammers, jigsaws, routers, and grinders mostly their corded tools nothing cordless at the older stores. While lowes is pretty consistent on what tools they stock in each store
firefighter4187
Yeah lowes is my favorite store.
DR99
I think the Lowes that is the closest to me is done once the menards they are building right now opens up. Menards has started to open stores in the metro detroit area they were previously in the rural areas of michigan.
Conductor562
Still no Menard's here in WV
crazyandy
I hope Menards comes to you because it is a nice place to change things up!
firefighter4187
Do you guys have ACE
FerTheHandyman
Menards is great for selection but I don,t like the power tool selection. Seems like they only carry Bosch, Masterforce and their line of Tool Shop.
Conductor562
Do you guys have ACEWe have a few Ace's here and there. Selection is usually good for the size, but prices are usually a tad on the high side.
firefighter4187
Prices on tools in Ace are More expensive here but hardware and some other items are cheaper then lowes.

Ryobi and Rigid were not bad as exclusives to them, but they pretty much have a good chuck of the power tool market with all the brands that are exclusive to the HD now. Conductor562
To be perfectly honest, I buy my power tools almost exclusively online unless I find a really good deal or need it NOW.
