DR99 Posted January 4, 2015 Report Posted January 4, 2015 Look at some of the awesome wood he was able to recover! http://imgur.com/a/b6oVuToo bad its not worth it around here. They planted a lot of garbage trees around here not really that useful for wood working mostly ash and silver maple trees. Lots of fast growing softwood trees. Quote
chadlanthier Posted January 4, 2015 Report Posted January 4, 2015 Wow beautiful wood. I got a bunch red heart cedar logs for dirt cheap. My brother in law owns a huge saw mill on a a trailer and said he would cut it up for me. Quote
ChrisK Posted January 4, 2015 Report Posted January 4, 2015 That's some pretty beautiful lumber rough milled with an Alaskan milling machine! Quote
BK13 Posted January 4, 2015 Report Posted January 4, 2015 What the heck is a silver maple? I hear 'maple' and I think it's got a decent chance to be a decent stick... Quote
regopit Posted January 4, 2015 Report Posted January 4, 2015 I would love to be able to get slabs like that. Quote

He has a Woodmizer trailer mounted sawmill. He is getting quite a collection going. Quote

ChrisK Posted January 4, 2015 Report Posted January 4, 2015 They sell the set up on Northerntool?. I saw it listed a couple of years ago. If I had the money and lived in an area where I could make use of it I would but alas....south east NH doesn't have too much to make me even come close to wanting to spend on it. Quote
DR99 Posted January 4, 2015 Author Report Posted January 4, 2015 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acer_saccharinumSome info on silver maples they do use it for furniture which I'm surprised as the tree we had in the back yard snapped all the time. It was just a dirty tree it had those darn helicopter seeds that got all over too Quote
