Looks kinda like someone made a mess with the stain and had a hard time cleaning it up.

Jimbo, I saw a post on this on the FOG last year maybe? Although not my style that is simply beautiful. It must have literally cost a fortune to do that! I just bought an end piece of black walnut, maybe less than three board feet for about $20. Really nice piece of wood and I got a decent board for some projects I'm working on but it ain't cheap especially for the book matched stuff on this piece of art!

I love when a beautiful grain in wood is enriched, could never live with this as my floor but could you imagine the time and workmanship too?

No doubt Jimbo and same here. Not for me but that is art. Whoever did that job has got some serious talent and a heck of an eye!

It's a shame they couldn't afford to put regular planks down :P Seriously though I agree with others that it might be hard to live with but that's a lot of beautiful wood.
