I ran into some really sweet spalted maple a couple months ago at a really good price.  I've been able to make Michigan cutting boards with it.

Here are three that I finished up this weekend.  The one in the middle was made up from scrap strips that I had laying around from when I made glue up cutting boards.

Those cutting boards look awesome!  Although the one in the middle is boarding Buckeye Colors LOL. BTW, just because I am living on OH, does not make me a Buckeye LOL.... I'm a lifelong Badger!

Welcome to the forum.  Those are some sweet cutting boards.  Love the wood grain.  Looks like more of something I would hang on the wall than cut my food on.  Nice job

Here's a cool piece of spalted that's on its way to become another cutting board.eb6851dd6ad371a8f8438cff844ea35b.jpg

Mineral oil.

Have you ever tried using beeswax dissolved in mineral oil? I hear that you can get good results, but have never witnessed it first hand.

I have not, but I have heard the same thing. Mineral oil is just really easy and can be reapplied by anyone.
