  1. @Bremon Yeah, this isn't something I would ever bring on the site. I don't really think that it is designed for "true commercial" work to be honest. What have your problems been with it?
  2. @Jronman Yeah, I totally agree. I would love to try out the Festool, but I have yet to muster up the $1,400 dollars to buy it. I have heard that it is awesome, but I question if I will ever be a good enough finish carpenter to actually notice the difference on a high performance saw. I guess I will just take my odds that my $450.00 saw is good enough... for now.
  3. I don't have a problem with the DeWalt miter saws, I just think that Makita cuts smoother for doing trim. Plus, unless it's a last resort, you won't catch me using a 12" on any finish work... which is the saw that I feel DeWALT is known for. Their saw is great for a commercial site, they hold up and can take abuse... something I question if my Makita could do.
  4. @Bremon Also, this is kind of a loaded question. I guess when I read it I was thinking about what I would use if I had to trim out someone's house. If I was on site and it was going to be my everyday saw I wouldn't recommend this saw. Probably go with a Bosch or DeWalt 12"
  5. @Bremon LS1016L is the model that I have been using. I don't know that it would be the best for a large commercial site, but for trimming in a controlled area it is my favorite. It cuts really smooth and it doesn't have too many parts.
  6. That's more or less what I am looking for. My current garage isn't too big, so based the on the feedback I have here it looks well worth the investment. Thanks for the input. FB82
  7. I am sure they will come out with something at some point. To be honest, I was surprised that they even made the nail guns... I think it was just something so they could compare to DeWalt. Milwaukee it not known for their wood working tools (my opinion). However, as I type this I now realize that by the end of the year they will have two different cordless miter saws out... so I could be a complete fool in this conversation.
  8. Concur. I have the corded 10" Makita and love it. It actually pains me that they are coming out with this, as I will be tempted to upgrade, if you want to call it that.
  9. Ah yes, the Makita beam saw... total beast in my opinion. We have used it recently on some timber work. Honestly, can't think of anything that is remotely as good for that application.
  10. I can't speak for the traditional cordless tools, however, I have heard that their miter saw and table saw have not sold that well... which slightly makes sense to me because those tools are not your typical tools that move all over... unlike a grinder, recip saw, drill, etc. I saw a live demo on the table saw and I thought it was pretty nice to be honest, plus the miter saw is pretty cutting edge in my opinion ( no pun intended?).
  11. I totally agree with you... but I think that can be said for the other major players too. If you buy the complete lineup (whatever that may be) of Dewalt, Milwaukee, Makita, etc., you will still be able to get your job done. I guess the main question to me is how efficient were you and how is the tool performing? I am all about sticking with one platform, as the common person can't afford to buy the best of each particular brand... however, there are times where that may be necessary depending on what application you are using your tools in. Just my two cents.
  12. I have seen a few of the Canadian guys using this and posting their videos online.... it seems awesome! Such a cool and great idea from Makita. Again, not trying to beat a dead horse... but this would be excellent in finished areas and especially hospital or healthcare work. Keep us posted on how you like it! FB82
  13. I don't disagree with you at all. I love their abailty to come out with new and improved tools, but I wish they would have spent more time with their 20V lineup. Just my opinion.
  14. I flipped a house this past winter where this would have came in handy. We had limited power because of the new electrical system. I don't have any Ridgid tools at the moment, but I have a feeling that is about to change.
  15. This is like the 50th Wera reference I have heard this week. As I posted earlier, I need to bite the bullet and get a set!
  16. Yeah, I think it would be cool for my gaeage in the winter time. Very cool idea from Ridgid.
  17. No, it's still the first one.
  18. Well said. They're just head and shoulders above the rest in that particular department.
  19. Yeah, that's what I have seen too! Let us know how you like it!
  20. I don't necessarily disagree with you, but there are other possible variables as well. One, I don't think that there are as many people in construction, so selling tools to people who don't work in the trades is obviously difficult. However, I feel that cordless tools from the big four (Dewalt, Makita, Milwaukee, Bosch), are still rising in terms of production and their new and improved ideas.
  21. This isn't anything different from what Milwaukee has done recently. It took them forever to come out with cordless nail guns, planer, drywall gun, cutout tool, etc. It happens, it's just unconvienant when it does, unfortunately.
  22. Cool pickups. I love Milwaukee's lights, I think they just about have a solution for every tradesman with their different options. Enjoy!
  23. Have you by chance tried the 36v worm drive? I have seen a few videos on it and it looks awesome.
  24. From the photo ( I have not seen them in person yet), they look very similar to Klein pliers, which was stated above from @BMack37. When I go see them in person I'll post a photo and give you my soft opinion. FB82
  25. Does anyone have the Ridged 18v cordless heater? I just recently read a few reviews from Home Depot and most people seemed to like it a lot. Also, I guess I didn't realize that you can plug it in or run of propane? Or was I misinformed? Any information would be appreciated! Thanks, FB82
