  1. I wish there was some parallel clamps. Not sure I would use f style.
  2. @Yannis the 796 is the 2 speed with hammer function. Is the version without hammer a bit shorter? might be something to consider if it is.
  3. Anyone buying tools as gifts this year for Christmas/The holidays? Thinking about helping a guy at work buy a tracksaw. He has been wanting one. He mentioned them being expensive and I expect that to be the reason he hasn't gotten one yet. I'm not planning on any other tool gifts.
  4. @Yannis is the two speed premium brushless DeWALT available? The one with the 3 mode led? It should be more compact than the 996 monster. I'd agree with the Makita statement. I like that it is 12v size with 18v power. For my DeWALT drill and impact driver I like using the smallest batteries because it is less weight and bulk. The 5.0 batteries are good. I haven't owned any but would be handy if you decide to get other tools that are more power hungry. Saws are noticeably weaker with the 2.0 packs vs the 5.0 packs. if I were you I would try and find a kit that includes one 2.0 pack and one 5.0 pack. I seen one kit like this but it included an impact driver as well. Any of those option you listed would be good. I would suggest staying away from Metabo. It may be a really good drill but other tools in the line up can be hit or miss depending on if they are German made or China made. My picks are the Europe equivalent of the Makita Sub-Compact or the Dewalt 2 speed with 3 mode led. I would start with two compact packs then if you need bigger you can get bigger packs later.
  5. nice deal. I guess next up to get is flexiclick?
  6. The new battery nailers/staplers are the best of 2017 and are a game changer. The m12 stapler is one of the first battery nailer/stapler that is not noticeably bigger than the air or manual versions. No hitting, no fatiguing squeezing, and no hoses required. The hitachi framer is also very compact. It has the power of an air framer and is fast enough that any framing guy couldn't realistically frame fast enough to be faster than the gun. DeWALT is coming out with nailers left and right. They may not be the top cordless nailers/staplers but the fact there is so many nailers and staplers plus a couple specialty guns that others guys don't have in one battery platform is huge.
  7. If I were to go a lighter option I would probably use with another jacket. I'm thinking if I go the 3-in-1 rout I may not need another coat. Still not sure if I can remove the outer layer for if I don't need as heavy of a coat. Would be nice to see some options in person but I'm not sure where I could find some in store.
  8. Its that time of year when the days are getting cold. I am considering getting some heated gear. I'm looking at getting a better pair of cold weather work gloves. I am thinking of getting a heated pair so that maybe I wouldn't have to have such a heavy/thick pair of gloves. I have never had anything heated before. Not sure how they will perform. I'm looking at getting a heated jacket to go with. Has anyone tried the Milwaukee 3-in-1 heated jacket? Is each of the 3 parts removable? At times The size of the 3-in-1 would be nice for really cold weather but most of the time Milwaukee's smaller heated jacket would suffice. It would be nice to try out some jackets in person. Would Home Depot or Builders have them in stores? I'm looking at trying the Milwaukee m12 because of the smaller battery but the DeWALT's would be second choice because I already have the batteries. I'm not sure What style I want to go with whether it be 3-in-1, hoodie, or light jacket. I am very sensitive to how something feels and not sure I would like the Carhart like material on the 3-in-1. Does it have a softer material on the inside?
  9. Cool. I didn't know there was one coming. Any other tool connect tools coming out besides the drills?
  10. does the van rack use stronger brackets?
  11. I haven't tried recon tools before but I am looking into Festool Recon. Each recon tool has been certified by Festool to be in working condition. Places like CPO has recon but not sure how good they are. @Wesley S. recon might be a good option to upgrade from a diy brand to a pro brand.
  12. I could understand if this was the early 1900's but common it is 2017 everything should either have a left handed option or be ambidextrous. and ego of all companies should know better. The lock on the top of their string trimmer was an excellent design. Why move it to the side on the power plus system?
  13. I suppose it started with me taking a few years of woods class in high school. I didn't have much interest in tools at that time. A year after high school I kinda got away from the woodworking stuff to try a computer major which was an interest I had at the time. I decided it was not something I wanted to do so I decided to switch to construction major. I had interest in tools but not enough to buy much. The school was using nicd DeWALT stuff a wondered why they hadn't upgraded to 20v max yet. The summer of 2015 a friend comes to my house and hands me a new DeWALT drill/impact kit as a gift I guess. They were the first power tools I had ever owned. A bit later, I don't know when, I found the TIA youtube channel and the videos tended to interest me so I subscribed. I wasn't really buying tools then but my interest kept getting larger and larger. I finally decided to get a TIA forum account and kinda started to become apart of the forum and interact and whatnot. End of summer of 2016 I saw a flexvolt preorder tool deal and it started from there. I bought 2 preorder deals that had tools I could use for work and kept on searching for more deals. End of 2016 I decided to look beyond tools for work and more for tools to use at home. Throughout 2017 I have been picking up a tool here and there. Major tool spending is something I am trying to cut down on. A new home, vehicle, and/or shop could be possibilities in the near future.
  14. is the cooler just an insulated box or does it include powered cooling as well? Puzzled why they came out with the other cooler line earlier this year. Also what does it mean by t-stak radio 3 and 4? Is there 2 models? Also is there no updated 2 drawer unit?
  15. Looks like a nice saw apart from the right handed lock switch which seems to be the trend these days. Ego did it with power plus system. I think Milwaukee has done it.
  16. make sure you don't mistake goo gone for goof off. They look similar and have a similar name but are different.
  17. I volunteer atleast 2 days a year for an organization called be the gift. I bring some of my own tools and other helpers are thankful for them. You could also take into consideration I live in a small town working for a small organization. It may be more accepted here. I'm not for sure though. We don't build houses like habbat but we do more odd jobs, house maintenance, lawn care, etc. for single parents.
  18. @ChrisK you interested in selling to tia? or just local?
  19. Here is a few pictures of what I did with my garage. Might give you some ideas. rebuilt an old workbench and added extra features like a bigger top, casters, and a shelf for more storage. Also added a nicer top to an old dresser and built a base with casters it could sit on. Not much but I was able to repurpose some of what was already in the garage. For lighting I got some cheap clamping work lighting from Menards and some bright bulbs to go with them. Not much but does the job. I designed the work space to be able to stow away against the wall to allow for a vehicle to drive in. Might not be possible in a single car garage though. Haven't done much with the wall space but will try to be efficient with/maximize the wall space. Going to add a couple tough system wall racks too. I repurposed some bracing I took off the old table I rebuilt and made shelves out of them. not much but at least gives me some space to store some smaller items. Might be able to repurpose your old garage door or stove into something more useful?
  20. I prefer the saw cordless and it is mostly used in my garage.
  21. @JimboS1ice how is the rotex? Does it seem to be hard to control/jump around? Mine seems that way.
  22. we have a winner. 3 was the correct guess. @kornomaniac or @comp56 can be up.
  23. Wen did Amazon start delivering on Sundays. I don't know if I have ever seen anything delivered on Sunday.
  24. One thing to note this is limited to 15 amp. Any more amp might not be able to be used.
