  1. Not sure when the prank happened or if the guy was told it was a prank. I'm sure the bio teacher has been in on the board streching solution prank probably since it was started by the woods teacher.
  2. @BMack37 it works great on Amazon. Saved around $80 total on 2 items then various amounts under $10 on some other items. Even takes into account prime which may or may not be the cheapest option. I'll have to check that out.
  3. Board stretching solution haha reminds me of story I heard about my high school shop teacher doing. Kids cuts board short and teacher tells kid to get board stretching solution from the science lab. kid comes back and they apply the board streching solution which was really water to work over night. The kid didn't know it was water so he believed it. After the kid leaves the teacher takes the time to make a brand new board and puts it wherever it was supposed to go. Next day the kid comes to class and he was amazed that the board streching solution actually worked.
  4. only the new one that came out with flexvolt and the 24v charger have fans right?
  5. DeWALT chargers have a hot cold light on rhem so I would guess they would let battery cool down before charging.
  6. would a minimum post count before being able to make a post in this thread help?
  7. Anyone ever used the browser extension called Honey? It is kinda like a Kayak or Priceline but instead of being for travel it is for buying stuff. It doesn't search multiple sites but it finds the best particular deal on the current site. It will also detect promo codes and apply them. For places like Amazon it will search all the different sellers of the item you are going to buy. I recently made an Amazon tool order and it showed me I could save $40 something if I go with a different seller. There is also a rewards feature but I haven't looked much into it. The nice thing is Honey is all free. https://www.joinhoney.com I checked and it works on many popular tool sites. I did find it does not work on Factory Authorized Outlet
  8. @rrich1 you gonna create your own custom attachments for the rail thingy or just use the ones Marc built?
  9. Would it be nice to have a section for posting recalls, defects, etc. on tools? To inform others with the same tool of the issue. Maybe could include problems/issues with tools that you have fixed yourself? One in particular that comes in mind is the DeWALT tile saw. A guy at work has one and is having motor issues. He checked in with where he got the saw and was informed that model of saw has been having motor issues. In this case might be something good for those who have said saw just so they can know their motor might be having issues in the future.
  10. I need to learn to ask more questions haha.
  11. I'm similar and only 22 years old. I tend to spend a fair bit of time researching before making purchases. Sometimes it doesn't feel like it pays off but I continue to do it cause I know in many cases it does.
  12. even in my town of around 3000 we have stealing it's not common but does happen. It wouldn't be worth it for me because I don't bring much to work and if I do it is either locked in my car which has an alarm, stored at home, or within sight. I also have some property coverage which should cover stolen tools. It hasn't happened to me but our plumber got a couple thousand in Milwaukee tools stolen from his truck last year.
  13. @fm2176 Builders is nice for what it is. I haven't been to the drive through lumberyard thingy but it looks nice from the outside. It is a whole separate building. I do notice a heavy emphasis on DeWALT products but you can also get Milwaukee too. There is also a section for Diablo and Freud. The DeWALT and Milwaukee selection seem bigger than Home Depot. Builders might be the closest thing to a pro guys dream store that Nebraska offers. There doesn't seem to be any brand that would be associated with as being "DIY".
  14. Ima just get a slider. Safer than a SawStop because you don't need to be near the blade.
  15. really? I heard about this but wasn't sure if it was true. Didn't see anything about this at DeWALT Experience. Unless I missed it.
  16. Maybe a smart watch could work or well be less of a hassle than a phone.
  17. Depends on what you want to include for big box. If you only include going to a physical location I would have to choose for my top choice Builders because it has a heavy focus on pro brands and is only 20 minutes away from where I live. Also you walk in and the tool section is right there basically front and center. I have seen some discount bins or something there but I haven't looked into them. The store could be bigger but I won't complain. My second choice would be Home Depot because it feels like it has a good selection of tools. My third choice would be Ace Hardware. There may not be the largest selection or the latest and greatest but seems like you can find more oddball things that the bigger stores don't sell. For online I like Acme tool because of the deals and Amazon is good as well for having prime shipping and a good selection of tools.
  18. My dad got one within the past few years and we haven't really needed to use it haha. The past 4-5 years have been lacking in much snow for Nebraska. Lately we have gotten small amounts of snow that turns into ice.
  19. One Key and Tool Connect tools have locking features. Bosch might but I'm not sure. Not sure if anyone uses these features. Would seem cumbersome to open up an app just to set how the tool locks. I think the locking options are either schedule based which is tool is unlocked for x amount of time then auto locks, instant lock which is tool locks cause you told it to lock, and finally an out of range lock which locks the tool when the app loses contact with the tool. If there was a more convenient way to lock the tool or set other settings of the tool other than phones, I would think connected tools would take off better.
  20. @Wesley S. if you are interested in a pro brand I got some extra new in box tools that I've been trying to sell and if you are interested I would give ya a deal on them. It is a DeWALT DCD996B (bare tool hammerdrill/driver), DCF887B (bare tool impact driver), and DCS575T2 (flexvolt circular saw 2 battery kit) I got a listing in the for sale section of the forum if you are interested
  21. @Roasty I could hook you up with a dcf887b (bare drill), dcd996b (bare impact), and dcs575t2 (2 battery flexvolt circ saw) everything is brand new still in box. If you don't have specific tool insurance you might be able to use property insurance if you have it.
