Drill press help

Crew ....

thinking about picking up a smallish bench top sized drill press,

any recommendations ? What to stay away from . Would like to stay reasonably priced, However I do realize that you get what you pay for. I don't have a need for anything hard core, 8" maybe ...unless opinion says differently.

lets hear it .... Help a brother out !

I have the Ryobi 10" press and for what I use it for, you can't beat it. Yes I wish it had a little more spindle travel but it works. I have heard good things about the Rikon presses. You may also want to check out Grizzly. They may be a little more expensive but you get what you pay for! Hope this helps a little!

I'm sure everything in my range comes from one of the two factories in China..

liking the Wen 10" so far , and HD is 3 miles from here.

it seems it may be hard to actually get a bad one, with the HF exception ...

Well the spindle sander is IDENTICAL to the woodcraft spindle and it was 50 cheaper so win win! Or rather WEN WEN!!!!

I been looking to replace my HF model, that has served me well, with no issues but is starting to have issues with the chuck falling out. I am looking for one that I can change speeds, without messing with belts, and I believe WEN has one, so I will be interested in what you think of the brand.

I have a small Jet that does all of that for about 299. It has worked very well so far.

I could use a smaller drill press and was thinking about the Wen. This thread may have just inspired me to finally grab one.

you can easily make a cheap bench top drill press have much more travel by reversing the head and longer drill bit in a pinch......the pic is just an example you can clamp what you need drilling anywhere along the 90 degree support.....

That's it. All the little presses come from a couple places, so you're more or less shopping for color and price.

I always try to pay mind to customer service for things like this as well.
