Milwaukeh Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 Checked out a local pawn shop today for the first time. I was really surprised at their selection of hand and power tools. The staff was friendly and we talked tools for almost an hour. Traded in my old dewalt corded sawzall for credit and walked out with all this for about 100 bucks. Anyone else have some pawn shop deals to show off? Quote
kruton Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 Now I want to run to the pawn shop tomorrow. I have never really found any great deals. Most of the shops around here think if they have tools they have to be worth almost new prices. Not sure if they don't know anything about tools and over pay for them or if enough people just think since it is a pawnshop they are getting a deal so they price things high. Where are Chumlee and Big Hoss when you need em!Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Bigmikez Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Same here kruton my pawn shops are full of beat up overpriced tools so I stopped going. 2 Quote
Justin Hernandez Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 It looks like all new stuff, my pawn shops suck I don't even know where the thieves go to cash in there stuff..lol Quote
DR99 Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Just from the stuff the local pawn shops advertise on Craigslist they must think the tools are made out of gold. I never see any good deals from them. Quote
Milwaukeh Posted July 28, 2015 Author Report Posted July 28, 2015 It looks like all new stuff, my pawn shops suck I don't even know where the thieves go to cash in there stuff..lolLol ya the guy I spoke too said he hates buying tools from people cause they almost always come back stolen. He said he gets most of his deals from buying damaged boxes, like tho knipex needle nose. 1 Quote
Justin Hernandez Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Some shops are asking the same price as new items when the tool is ten tears old. Get it together people Quote
petersmith Posted March 24, 2016 Report Posted March 24, 2016 The one time I went into the local Pawnshop here in town, they sell used tools for new prices. I don't think I'll be back. Pretty sure the rest of the stuff in the store was marked the same way. Quote
WigWagWorkshop Posted March 24, 2016 Report Posted March 24, 2016 Yeah, the pawn shops around here are like what others have said, price is almost has much has new, and it's not just tools. I wanted a stereo for the workshop, and the prices were crazy for beat up, missing buttons crap. There was one decent model, and when I tried to negotiate a price, the guy got pissed off. I do plan on stopping in some of the other ones around. -Steven Quote
BMack37 Posted March 24, 2016 Report Posted March 24, 2016 Nice score! I actually just got another pawn shop deal but this time on eBay! Still waiting on it but it appears to be a brand new Klein clamp meter with case and original leads/temp lead for half price. If this proves to be a good deal that's 3 pawn shop scores in the past month! Only walked into a pawn shop three times this year so I think I'm doing pretty well! 2 Quote
Bigmikez Posted March 24, 2016 Report Posted March 24, 2016 Yea my local pawn shops suck around here... Quote
Justin Hernandez Posted March 24, 2016 Report Posted March 24, 2016 Yea pawn shops are way over priced here, I told the guy working there that all this stuff is stolen. He told me to leave..lol Quote
WigWagWorkshop Posted March 24, 2016 Report Posted March 24, 2016 Yeah, I think a lot of folks think pawn shops are like Pawn Stars, but my guess most of them are like Hardcore Pawn shops. The majority of the pawn shops in my area, are all owned be they same company. Quote
99_XC600 Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Screw the pawnshops. I'll just go to estate sales if I want to look for used tools. 2 Quote
BMack37 Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Posted this in the "What tools did you buy" thread but since this thread inspired my stop: $20 1 Quote
