can anyone help?

brought the DCF-886 impact driver about 12 months ago and stupidly forgot to register the tool on my dewalt account for the warranty. recently when I try to put a bit in the impact driver it does not click in and hold the bit so it always falls. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem and how they resolved it? ive seen that you can buy replacement parts online but im not sure what component I am looking for

any help would be appreciated

Wish I could help, but I just purchased the DCF885, which is the brushed version.

The bit holder / chuck of the dcf886 is identical to the dcf885.

I'd call Dewalt. Milwaukee date stamps their tools and batteries via the SN. If Dewalt does that, it'll show as under warranty. Never hurts to ask the source!

Dewalt has a 3 year warranty on their tools. Like ChrisK mentioned they will go off the date of manufacture if you can't find proof of purchase.
