olibrooks3 Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 can anyone help?brought the DCF-886 impact driver about 12 months ago and stupidly forgot to register the tool on my dewalt account for the warranty. recently when I try to put a bit in the impact driver it does not click in and hold the bit so it always falls. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem and how they resolved it? ive seen that you can buy replacement parts online but im not sure what component I am looking forany help would be appreciated
William S Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 can't you register it now? you have to register it to get the warranty? Did you check on that?
WigWagWorkshop Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 Wish I could help, but I just purchased the DCF885, which is the brushed version. -Steven
Justin Hernandez Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 Is the little steel ball still inside the sleeve? If it fell out that's your problem
dwain Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 Wish I could help, but I just purchased the DCF885, which is the brushed version. The bit holder / chuck of the dcf886 is identical to the dcf885.
ChrisK Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 I'd call Dewalt. Milwaukee date stamps their tools and batteries via the SN. If Dewalt does that, it'll show as under warranty. Never hurts to ask the source!
DR99 Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 Dewalt has a 3 year warranty on their tools. Like ChrisK mentioned they will go off the date of manufacture if you can't find proof of purchase.
William S Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 yeah they do have a date stamp on dewalt.
RickyMcGrath Posted August 18, 2015 Report Posted August 18, 2015 The date stamp should be on the bottom of the tool where the battery would go. Should be something like YYYY XX-XX
