99_XC600
I had more fun working on this though. It gives a chance to think and use my brain Sometime sitting at my desk in my office dealing with IT issues all days can drive you insane.
99_XC600
Finished off the filling and sanded this morning and slapped some primer on the walls. In the past I used the oil based KILZ for drywall and the stuff really stinks up the house. This time I used their water based PVA for new drywall. It went on pretty easily and I had pretty good coverage and best of all no stink! Anyway, the walls are done until we decide on the final color. Going to paint the ceiling next weekend and try to start working on the installing the trim. Not sure how much I'm going to get done. We're supposed to go cut our Christmas tree down.

Justin Hernandez
Its coming along quite nice, yea you should stay away from oil based products. Water based latex products are so far advanced now theirs no reason to use anything else, you might need to use an old based primer on walls with permanent marker all over it. Also on certain outdoor decks might require an oil base but thats about it.

99_XC600
Thanks everyone. Now all of the fun stuff starts and of course as always this project is turning into something bigger. As we were looking at tile this past weekend my wife now wants to continue the tile floor into the kitchen. We will see what happens. With Christmas, the heating season and snowmobiling starting. Time and money are going to be limited and I really don't want to tear the kitchen apart.
99_XC600
Not too much progress this weekend due to having to work on Saturday morning and then going to cut the Christmas tree down. On Sunday I painted the ceiling and then put the heating register back together and fastened it to the wall. Once that was done I went around the room cleaning up the window casings and door jambs of old layers of paint so the finish trim will sit flat. Have some time off from work coming up. Plan on finalizing the wall color and then start putting the trim up.

99_XC600
Broke out the finish nailer today and made a lot of progress on the windows, doors and installing the shelf. I also decided to replace the window sills on both. Originally I was going to try to save them, but even after trying to clean them up for a couple of hours. It didn't make sense on not replacing it when all of the other mill work was going to be new,. Originally on the shelf I was going to use a couple of rubbed bronze metal brackets for the end. We changed our minds and I'm going to continue with the trim on for the returns for either side. So that will need to be redone since I originally left an allowance for the brackets on the ends. Going to hold off on the baseboards until we get the floor in.
