  1. This is where the issue lies. With me being a licensed contractor in Maryland, I have to provide unemployment and workers comp insurance to anyone that is working for me one hour or a lifetime. I also have to make sure they have the right documents if the INS shows up. I can be in more trouble than the person working for me can. The only way to get around it is to have another licensed contractor working with you as your helper. I can chance it and nothing could ever happen but that one time could cost me everything.
  2. looks great keep us posted on how it turns out.
  3. The big thing in Baltimore city when you remodel is a roof top deck. Thursday a friend that I work with sometimes, called and asked if I would go and look at roof top job and give him a hand if he gets it. He picked me up this morning and on the way, we stopped at 7-11 for a coffee. Hardly had the door open and I had 5 or 6 Latinos ask if I need any help. I was nice and told them we really did have any work and we were just stopping for coffee. The leader the one that could speak English looked at me and said you are prejudice because we are Mexican you don’t want to give us any work. Before I could say anything, my friend Rodger says he is free of all prejudice. He hates everyone equally. Now come on old man and buy me a coffee.

  9. We all know how women love to change their minds and my better half is the Queen of let’s do this instead. Sunday she was in the kitchen looking out into the yard and I could tell something was coming. I said what are you looking at. The pool and the tiki bar and was thinking instead of doing the upstairs we should just build something permanent over the bar. Okay by we you mean me and secondly why. We use it from the second week of May until sometime in October and I know you are getting tired of replacing the cover every time a branch falls through it and I think that yard would look nicer. Okay, that is what I’m going to do no more changing your mind and if you want to help you can stay out of the way. Deal.
  10. When I was looking in to 12v tools I like the the feel of the DeWalt in my hand and at the time they had the flat packs and the tool would set up when you sat it down. I didn't like the fat grip of the others. I would like to see Dewalt expand their 12v line.

  20. You are one busy man I don't how you are doing it. I'm taking one class Surveying Instruments on Saturdays 8a to 1p for the next 12 weeks and I'm thinking to myself what in the hell are you doing. Keep up the good work!
  21. Nice review Chris and the fact that you don’t have a table saw is no big deal. My friend that lives across the pond is in town visiting his family and we make it a point to spend time together when he gets back home. We were out last night and got to talking about how woodworking and construction are different here and over in England. He was telling me that hardly anyone uses a table saw it is all track tools. A saw for rips, and cross cuts and a router for dados easy to set up and easy to use and the portability is also nice. “I have received some grief about using these tools because of cost. This set is REALLY expensive. Is it worth it?” Yes they are worth it. The thing about Festool is it has that something extra that makes your job and life easier and that is hard to put a price on. Now that I mainly work by myself, I’m always on the lookout for things too make my life easier.
  22. I hear that it is the place to look for a HOT DATE for idiots and low ballers.
  23. This is not a bad planer but I think if I used mine more then I do I would go for one that has two blades. As for using a shop vac unless you have a large vac they fill up fast.
