  1. I'm not sure but it would make sense. Parts from the flex circ saw could be shared since they run the same size blade.
  2. the tool has a button on it to change presets. Its basically like a dcf887 but a button instead of a switch and a recip saw instead of an impact driver.
  3. If DeWALT is venturing into the electrician world then Milwaukee should dive into woodworking tools like a table saw or track saw.
  4. I wonder if the next step for the 7 1/4in miter is flexvolt or just brushless?
  5. Wouldn't a 4 way chuck only make sense on a compact recip? I own and use the flexvolt recip saw and I like it. It's big and I don't feel like that is a bad thing. A nice solid build designed for demo work. When under load it seems to run well. Vibration isn't anymore noticeable than most other recips. The light is a nice feature but nothing special. It could be better but it does what I need it too so I can't complain.
  6. well with presets you only have to program once. Program the tool one day then the next you don't gotta reprogram the tool because it remembers what you set the day before. If the whole crew is reprograming their tool every day while on the clock then it adds up. I don't really see the average guy reprograming their tool every day. I see guys on their own time unboxing the tool, programing the tool, then closing the app until a new connected tool is purchased.
  7. I don't know much about this new router thing DeWALT announced or the plans for it but I say we shouldn't say its bad until it is actually used. DeWALT is trying something new. Also @Framer joe One key does increase productivity. In the case of the recip saw you select the material to cut and it automatically sets the optimal settings for the particular material you need to cut to increase speed and increase blade life. If you got 4 customizable presets you can set them up once then close the app and forget about the app. Maybe 3 for your most commonly cut materials then 1 that is for misc. materials.
  8. I dont like the rear handle style but I can do sidewider style blade left or right. not sure which I prefer but either way I use the saw with my left hand. I wonder if anyone would use a rear handle blade right saw? Maybe a blade left track saw? Not even sure if those are a thing.
  9. bought a pair of DeWALT double action diagonal cutters and the DeWALT DCL050 light. I was in the area of a home depot today. Was going to pick up a ds400 but they were out of stock so I picked up a light instead.
  10. Maybe a change order was requested and required some blueprints had to be changed. They can be electronically sent from the guys at bottom to the ones at the top. Also you gotta consider emails have small file size limits and the plan files are large. Some can be multiple gigabytes in size.

    Work light

they say flexvolt is a new platform in a way that is true but you can use the same charger and same batteries on 20v or flexvolt tools. Probably the best 2 battery platforms to have if you dont want to carry around extra batteries or chargers.

    Track Saws

someone said something about makita saws with less than 65mm or whatever it was do not have riving knives. I didn't know if larger saws had them.
  13. @Bremon you know that @JimboS1ice is a TTI guy at Hart.
  14. It is going to be part of a whole connected ecosystem that includes tool connect. I see it as a tool used for commercial jobsites. One scenario was the guy at the bottom could send blueprints to the guy at top. I could see the general contractor company would run the system then all the various crews could be connected somehow to get sent information or whatever.
  15. Guess the announcement was something we didn't expect. The internet router may be nice for commercial and maybe large residential but not something my work would use. Especially since we are only half a dozen guys.
  16. I keep my car for construction work cause it gets good mpg which makes running it cheaper than a pickup and allows me to save more money for tools. Around $25 bux a tank every few weeks (ethanol free fuel of course) isn't bad. MORE POWA tm isn't bad either. Makes it more fun to drive right?
  17. @Justin Hernandez I personally stay away from the higher tool kits. Generally the 2 tool kits, 1 tool kits, and bare tools have the best offerings. The larger kits tend to sneak in lower end tools like you mentioned the lights but the cost savings are what make then good.
  18. so you must be a TTI guy. Do you got a Hoover or any Stilleto?

    Track Saws

@Bremon I was talking about normal circular saws. Ones without a track base.

    Track Saws

Is a riving knife solely for helping prevent binding? Does it help with straighter cuts?
  21. I've found using the tip of a recip blade to cut with as being tricky but with shoe pressed against the trunk it didn't have much issue. It can have kickback if you aren't careful.
  22. @DPSElias I used the flexvolt recip saw yesterday to cut out a tree stump. It worked well enough. A chainsaw would have been nice but if a recip is the best you got then you use the recip. Sure people have issues with the flexvolt unit like the size/weight and lack of features they get with other recip saws but I found it does has some good power when under load. It was cutting with a 9in pruning blade with as much blade in the stump as possible. The saw didn't seem to break a sweat. Cut out the roots fairly easy in the midst of all the soil.
  23. I don't find brushless motors to be an issue. my dcf887 spins slow enough
  24. I could see them surprising us again like they did last year with flexvolt.
  25. In school we were told to set drills and impacts on their side and I try to continue to do so. Was one step to help prevent the tools from falling over or off tables and potentially damaging whatever we were working on or things below.
