  1. Ya true.....personality I have the 16g cordless ...we use it to tack Trim up and nail off with a different gun.......I'm not getting those new ones for myself but our company has both new ones..........I Love the Dewalt pneumatic Precision Point nailers..16g and the small 18g ,,,the nose is very small and ..does not ..depress at all...it's just place and shoot...it's perfection.......
  2. I hear ya....I was referring to framing houses, general building practices....working with lumber. I wouldn't ask a guy to order steel on a house, obviously expensive to screw up....but we have an in house mechanic for our lulls and lifts...no one touches the machines but a qualified mechanic.... I wouldn't have had that scenario happen. The policy for tools and machines is...." you break it you own it" ....my job as a supervisor is not only to hire and fire , but to inspire people, to make them the best they can be...I'm not a "screaming " type boss...I try to explain why something is done and to inspire greatness and pride in your work... way way of subject...point is ....go out of your comfort zone and ask questions , research and try to do things you haven't done before, people would be surprised at what they actual can accomplish.......rant ova
  3. I'd say this about advice and asking the right people.......I d rather have a guy make mistakes with bad advice and learn from it then to do nothing.......doing nothing changes nothing,,,,bosses want " go getters" ......big money isn't made with your hands, it's with your head...knowledge is powerful...
  4. Don't know about that one ..Jake...I've put up hardy plank clap board but never used a gun on it...usually make a slightly larger hole with a stainless screw..... ....We generally use primed pine, cedar or azek ( which is a plastic / composite product) ....
  5. It always pays off to do your research. I've been running framing crews since I was 20...no one showed me how to read plans, layout rafters, stairs,,complex basterd hips......I stayed after work and measured them,(rafters stairs, etc.) on my own time.. wrote in a notebook,,,read the "little blue book" ...practiced on scrap wood...... @Jronman your a curious , insightful guy...always research.....I think you'll be a great in the construction world... Remember no one gives you anything in this world , if you want it go get it....failure is only in not trying.....asking questions and doing research is always a good practice..... .
  6. @Tug, ,goes back to what I said...learn about a tool ,a trade, a job, a project , before using or doing it...........I'm old school ,and don't have an ego,so I ASK QUESTIONS..I research everything before I buy anything......it may take me a month before I buy a refrigerator. 2 -3 months to buy a truck...it took me 3 years to draw a plan and get quotes to build 2500sq ft house for 70k .........don't just grab a tool and use it, that how you do get hurt.....
  7. Tool connect info is around, ,,yes definitely has ...gps.. not like tick that relies on other people around you to have tick.....it says it will track a tool within 15ft.....thing is if someone just broke into a van to get tools...1st you get a email, ,text and call to alert you that your tools are out of a range you pick,10ft,50ft ,?......next ..alert the cops..I'm sure the thief does not have time will driving to remove the tool connect or battery or tool before he is caught......you can literally follow him...... I'm not a big electronic guy, and I dissed this before on here regarding tool set ups, torque changing blah blah.....but this "gps" thing is worth the 19$ a month if you have thousands in tools in a high crime area....... where I live we can leave are vehicles and houses unlocked mostly,, I don't but you can..........dude truly sucks for you or anyone who gets ripped off..... My tools are all engraved also....in case you do see something out that looks like yours.....
  8. Dewalt tool connect has ..gps ...you pay monthly 19$ and it's gps anywhere through all phone towers...you would have known exactly where your tools were....it's not available yet ,but soon.....sorry to hear about your tools gone...truly sucks ...don't know your circumstances, but my tools stay locked in my truck or in my garage ,in my truck...at work they don't leave my site,if I go to lunch ,I pack em up before I go... ......any video surveillance? Hope it works out.....call Dewalt tell them your story, maybe they will hook you up....
  9. Ya but @Grumpy MSG if the rapid charger was causing batteries to prematurely fail guys wouldn't just buy more batteries they'd get out of that platform pissed off.......anyhow...being a small contractor, I have dozens of batteries. I only use 5ah, both 6ah, 9ah, Each tool has a battery installed and a couple spares....batteries are rotated from tool to tool ...and I haven't thrown any batteries away yet, all are still good.....I'm hoping for, at least 5ah in 60v ...less batteries more runtime, maybe years away from 1 battery for all day in heavy use tools
  10. I know it's out and on Home Depot shelves her in the USA......don't know where you are... we have one for work and so far no problems...but we are just nailing through pine, cedar, composite, poplar, ....good luck
  11. Zinzan..all companies label tools in that way, same as Milwaukee, Makita, Bosch, Dewalt....In Dewalts case they labeled the new line of tools 20v max to differentiate between its older line and the new tools....also it IS labeled 20v MAX ...max as in maximum voltage.............if any customer buys a 20v or 60v tool thinking that is the usable voltage....They Should Not Be Using The Tool......same as a 12v tool is not 12v ........this a very old debate from Dewalt haters when everyone does it...do your due diligence when buying a tool........personally I read everything , watch reviews, and ask for advice on this very forum, before I make a big purchase.....
  12. There is a lifespan of a battery anyway...you get so many uses, so many chargers.....I have just not heard or read that a fast charger hurts the battery. If so please show me the article.....I understand theories and conjecture but...... why would every company have them ? So you have to buy new batteries all the time ? That would just piss people off and stop using that brand....don't know
  13. Will do ....using it this weekend to drill a series of 5/8" x7" for titan lags into a foundation....
  14. Couldn't wait , just got it Thanks @Hugh Jass for the review ,it convinced me to get it.......it fits great in a TStak box with foam insert, some of the bits are underneath stored in the foam ,a nice 9ah ready to go....feels great ! More POWA!
  15. Ya, don't buy that....there is no litterateur I'm aware of from Dewalt stating that using their own rapid charger reduces battery life...I mean they added a fan for heat displacement no ? I'm not an engineer,( although I do spec steel beams at work) .. ....and actually I still have dozens of 4 and 5 ah batteries since they came out still running strong.....besides if it's what I need for my company or the others , ya I replace thousands in batteries every year...bottom line I use tools to make money and make my bosses money,,,..really don't care about longevity, it would be nice if everything lasted but understandably not realistic...... ...I would buy a tool for just 1 use if it made me big bucks......if I said buy this tool for 1k that you need to do the job and you make 4K profit ...wouldn't you..? I do..
  16. Trying to find the gun that works for a certain project can be challenging, once found that setup can be used again in the future ,thus saving time, also finding the max ability of a gun is needed info......a hammer works, for a cave dweller..bikes work also , why drive....? It's about being more efficient....
  17. I went rigid too, had to..needed a trim router and sander,,,got the fan too....but Dewalts fans will be in my garage as soon as released. Even though it's headed for colder weather on the cape......7 hr on high with a 4ah 8 or more with a 5ah ...that is impressive.....
  18. Whining ? I realize that some folks in the U.K.dont actually need chargers because you have 1 battery for your 1 tool, that sits on the shelf.. But. For men that have dozens of cordless tools used everyday and dozens and dozens of batteries to charge ,ya , the fast chargers are needed to keep up and switch out batteries or I suppose you could do ..Hugh's solar farm idea and have a field of ..... Not to mention usually a kit is a great deal for the tool, batteries and charger, and maybe a good case........it's called options, they are great to have
  19. Don't know about Europe......but this compressor is nice, I use it every weekend.....I have the cordless Dewalt nailers,,,use them...but I still prefer the cordless compressor and a small , light, pneumatic nailer........I'm sure the gen 2 compressor will be bigger and more air,,,,,,,and I'm sure the next gen nailers will be smaller and more capable...........electricity is the problem on our jobs,,,,
  20. Hey now, crap battery charger with the 20v chain saw,,,,,,
  21. I'm not on that wagon, Send the 118 for every tool kit...the 115 or 101 are twice or more charging times...fine if your charging 2ah slim packs,,,not for 5ah or higher.....stop being cheap Dewalt and put kits in a damn tstack or tough case like overseas......
  22. Nice description....not for me but glad it's a nice tool for you
  23. Never found out what charger comes with the kit
  24. That 3 drawer looks sweet and I heard it's water resistant dust proof...I'm sure the 2 drawer is as nice....great additions to the tough system line up......I'll be getting some , not nearly as many as @77Ford has. He is the tough system king,, that tower wall of boxes pic , is freaking amazing !
  25. No problem, I'm great at explaining tool purchases....lol......I got the same deal as @Cr8ondt....thanks again for posting bud, that hooked me up, I owe ya....the local store would not give up a free battery but the online store and fulfillment center did give me the same 2 battery deal...also shipped it overnight ,,...lowes did come through for me....
