  1. The 780 last a long time..it is a great tool. Finish guys will hang on to it. We have 2 flex mitre at work ,we love em...but we are trying to be all cordless , because power is a tough find......I personally love my cordless Dewalt table saw, I'm waiting for the 10" cordless mitre for myself....
  2. It does say steel in the description......we will see...if it shoots a 2x into steel ,,I'm a buyer
  3. Well well....that's brand loyalty. If you are taking about an entire line up, corded and cordless then ya everyone has that.....I thought we are taking about cordless tools ? ......no you can't complete a house Frame it and trim it with Dewalt cordless tools today.......I hope someday but not today.........one other thing your missing is productivity and profit, just because Dewalt makes a cordless tool doesn't mean it's the most productive to get the job done efficiently....I love Dewalt I have all their tools either in my business or in the companies I run.....
  4. Oh, I thought Milwaukee had a 2nd gen cordless nailers already ?
  5. I plan on using it this winter framing...I can't stand the other kerosene ones ..hate that smell...
  6. Nice ...glad it worked out for you. You convinced me already ,just waiting for the hepa filter
  7. I didn't ditch Dewalt as I said it's a love hate thing.......just wish they would round out one line of tools ...like 20v max ...before moving on to something new.......I mean if they had the 20v max XR circ saw years ago ,I prop wouldn't be in Flexvolt....but that's how they get ya....it's a business thing for them,,but still an ahole thing to do...
  8. Use a 5ah it will run all day....it is actually too hot on high,,,I use my friends last winter building decks outside in very cold weather....warmed the whole area up ..it works great..one twenty lb tank of propane will last all day.......I'm buying it soon as on sale
  9. Is that 2nd gen nailer ?
  10. Politics man.....comes with the territory. But actually keeping your jobsite clean everyday enhances productivity and definitely safety....we clean up twice a day..before lunch and at the end of the day.........you actually get more work by looking clean and organized....
  11. Dewalt .......it's a love ...hate thing......mostly love
  12. Ya I've removed a few nails from guys arms, legs and feet over the years ..never shot myself but been shot 4 times( in the arm,in my head,in the thigh and through my hand nailed to a ridge) ..I hate new guys and guys that learned bad framing habits that I hired...argh!! ......I love the paslode nailers, pneumatic and cordless...but as you say FUEL cost is high....I use the cordless Dewalt dcn692,693 for doing decks..I never had a problem with them.....but recently switched back to the pneumatic hanger gun (strap shot) with the cordless rigid compressor ..it works great and the hanger gun is much smaller and lighter........
  13. I run crews and generally there is no power so we always carry two generators and compressors , dozens of cords and hoses...nothing can compare to a pneumatic framing gun and there are no cordless coil guns to nail plywood, strapping, trim ...so air is a must anyway......my deck company is completely cordless...but framing, No.......I do hope someday years from now probably , a cordless framing crew is possible..
  14. Zip is king....the plywood is coated with a water shield ,tape the seams properly as to shed water and they seams hold up well, like months if needed before shingles go on. Red coating for roof ply and Green coated for walls...the exposed nail head generally don't leak (unless you miss a rafter when nailing) ...it does cost more 25%...but you save money buy not leaving exposed cdx ply to the sun and weather...unless your roofer shingles right away...as you know exposed ply ,buckles and delaminates........
  15. ...They loose money every year, for years to come.beacause a good corded tool can last 10/15 years. ..cordless tools are not necessarily faster, just convenient......problem is no company has a complete line.....and yes many companies I know went back to cords and generators,,..the older system of generators, compressors,, cords,hoses...is a predictable system, tried and true..and easy to plan for work...of course drills and impacts stay on board.......
  16. If I'm laying down ice/ water barrier to protect roof sheathing I'd use a swing stapler,,same if I was shingling a wall.....the convenience of having it hang on your pouch is a time saver, taking off one gun to put on another gun (stapler) then reattaching the siding gun and so on is a money killer...... ........bowever stapling down typar or tyvec on a newly built wall an air stapler is faster because the wall is laying on the deck......of course we don't use typar or tyvec for years...we use Zip Plywood with Zip tape on the seams.... .......now if someone can make a 20v stapler smaller then the Milwaukee and fast ...maybe you got something there...
  17. I don't think it's a lack of construction. The economy is ok and housing has been up, you know when building is good because the Brazilian framers with no license, workmans comp, or insurance all come out and try to undercut legit framers bids..........I don't think these companies (Dewalt,Milwaukee ,Makita) are getting there biggest sales from DIY guys buying at Home Depot and lowes...I believe it's from guys in the trades... We have been building houses and working in the trades for decades without cordless tools, so if a company is going to invest heavily in a brand there needs to be a complete line...that's the problem...pieces from this brand and that brand is aggravating to owners...one or two tools from another brand is fine but not on a large scale......disrespect of preorders....all the large companies I know hate not having a complete line of tools...the bottom line is productivity and profit for a trade. ........while I appreciate Flexvolt. I still would rather have a complete line of 20v max tools,lights,ope,etc...then do specialty tools or another line of tools or batteries....these big tool makers make Billions, it's time to give a shit about your customers or pay the consequences of a dissatisfied buyer...
  18. I'm a Dewalt guy as you know,,,.i have physically tried most of the tools from every brand through work or friends...except Festool....I'd say Milwaukee,Dewalt,Makita are all good,,splitting hairs on runtime,cuts,power,,etc.....I choose Dewalt because they have an incredible grip....framing nailers,etc.....and the batteries where always good on the older 18v line (XRP) ........but Dewalt didnt make everything I need....cordless,trim router, sander, fan, planer,,,I went to Ryobi because until recently no one had a cordless trim router or sander.etc.. ..I'd love to be one platform....but I do like Milwaukee sawzalls, and I love the new rigid cordless trim router, sander, heater, compressor so I bought them.... .....I CANT WAIT for Dewalt to make what I need and want,..I have deadlines and contracts to meet......what I do is buy enough batteries for each tool for the job at hand and charge all the batteries at home after work, expensive yes, maybe , (it's a write off) I find deals...but I don't have to carry multiple chargers everyday.......
  19. That carbon fiber stapler is great. ...we have a couple. Yes the air staplers are small , lighter( maybe,) faster ? Depends who is using them..roofers are not going to carry a roofing gun and an air stapler ...they swing baby...and that carbon fiber is strong, built well and ridiculously light..........

    Interesting....long term ? I don't know
  21. Interesting ..I figured the hard core tool guys on here , would have a majority of 1 brand, then add fillers. I know my bud is a mechanic and he says a lot of guys get the top of the line for show.....other brands would work well ,but there's a "name brand" ego thing at work. I could see that in a shop setting working around other mechanics, but not if you work alone. Myself , I think SnapOn may make certain tools that are the best...but a lot of other companies make some nice tools too.....personally I have no idea if "A" company makes the best screwdrivers and "B" company makes the best wrenches ..Iin the past I would grab whatever I had,,,,usually it was a Craftsman and if it didn't break I figured it was a good tool...... This forum is a helpful ,informative place for ideas and info, I for one appreciate it...thanks
  22. Tried putting something decent together without buying all snap on or matco or other high end mechanics tools.....Dewalt and Milwaukee are decent for work...
  23. I like that FUEL set up above ,as Dewalt does also...seems like a good set up for overhead vs a hose hanging down
  24. So just wondering what other guys have for the home garage,,,,I'm no mechanic, but I pieced together a chest of tools (Dewalt tool chest, definitely not a pro chest) just from advice on YT ,blogs, forums.... ....Klein screwdrivers (cushion grip) and electrical stuff ....Bahco adjustable wrenches ...Tekton impact sockets (deep/shallow) 3/8 and 1/2, breaker bar, torque wrench, misc ...Channellock pliers ...Craftsman floor jack, creeper Just curious if guys use Milwaukee ,Dewalt or other brand hand tools for mechanical work, I use those brands and husky at work..
  25. No Luke, don't join the Dark (red) Side ...let the force guide you to Flexvolt and 20v max......lol
