PeteW
he did say tho that the milwaukee m18 is a 10in saw so i cant wait for that to come out!
NERemodeling
Unfortunatly it's not a 10inch I'm not too bummed about that actually. The beauty of a cordless saw is portability and ease of setup. A 7 1/4 or 8" saw will do 95% of what most people need and it is just that much lighter to carry around all the time. I think I just got a bit more excited about it actually!
kornomaniac
True that most people will but this as a second mitre saw for 95 % of their task like you said Ner!

kornomaniac
http://www.makita.biz/product/category/cordless/dls714/index_f.html Product information is up. I think runtime and the better then corded speed in a compact light weight package are going to be it's strong points. Ideal as a second saw next to you 10 or 12 inch compound mitre which is overkill for alot of jobs.
mtnkid85
Can anyone tell what its max cutting capacity against the fence is? Is it only 2 1/16?
Hugh Jass
I thought this might blow Dewalt's miter away, I'm thinking no.
kornomaniac
It's easily going to outperform dewalt in runtime / cutting speed/ cutting power. But it does not have extra capacity. Price w'll have to see

regopit
Very excited! This thing looks bad to the bone!! Can it de-throne my kapex though?!?! That's gonna be a tough one. Maybe get it for a second saw I picked up the DeWalt 18V miter saw the other day and it is so handy. I sat it on the floor next to me and ran base and shoe and never had to get up. knocked that room out in no time. it had plenty of power and it made nice clean cuts.
Andrull
A bit dissapointing they couldn't get it to cut a 2-inch (48mm) thick board at 45 degree cut.Which in fact, makitas own 36V circular saw can with the same 190mm blade.(the US version is the exception, which uses the smaller 7-1/4, I don't know why they did that?) But yeah, the weight looks pretty low, especially considering it has two heavy batteries.
Bigmikez
That Makita looks pretty cool!

NERemodeling
I agree. What's up with that blurry background! The saw looked nice though.. sounded good, seemed plenty touquie and had a nice blade brake... I would love to see a full review of the saw by itself..Thanks for posting the video bee-man
kornomaniac
James Mason had a periscope video on the saw. Very powerfull and 400+ cuts in 2 by 5 .Batteries/motor barely warmed up ( which was a probleem with metabos cordless chip saw )
NERemodeling
Is there anyway to still see that video or is is gone. I'm not up on this periscope stuff..
NERemodeling
Korno, I think you made a post about makita 6ah batteries but when I try to open it it takes me to the TIA homepage.. not sure if there is something messed up with the post or if it's only me having problems. kornomaniac
Something messed up with the post. For some reason it links back to an old 2013 post. I've asked jasonC moderator to remove it again ( the same thing happened this morning ) Very strange forum f*ckup All the post did was showing some info from makita australia . the 6 amp battery was announced
